Great video. Those of us who are dedicated Onewheel trail riders make serious upgrades to our boards which might level the playing field a bit with the mountain board. Treaded tires, WTF rails, reinforced bumpers and upgraded batteries add way more torque, range, speed and traction.
@@UNPAVEDTV Can actually be more power with certain rounder tires. Less surface area = more power to the ground. Add a softer compound to the mix and it'll eat up dirt trails.
Quality production and great analysis of the riding capabilities of each board! As a Onewheeler, I'm biased, but other ridable EVs each have their fun aspects too...and all that matters is that you're having fun!!
I was trying to decide between the two a few months back for road use and went with the eboard, mostly because the cost/performance value in terms of power speed and range. Also the familiarity with using a skateboard that you can still balance on and move with no power.
Amazing comparison. I've been riding my onewheel for a while now on dirt, pavement and snow but the mountain board is awesome. I would love to see a second part where you try the boards on groomed snow trails.
I looked this video up because I wanted to try something on the trails by my house. I clicked your video and thought its perfect because it looks just like the trails I go to. Then I realized you parked under the same tree that I do. and it actually is the trails that I planned on going to haha (Agua tibia temecula)
Get a plus xr, CBXR mod (chip if required and go to a stoke shop to do it for ya if later than 4210/4144), techrails, crazy hubs axle block carriers, air pad, front grip tape, fishbones (barracudas), tfl Enduro tire, float life savers, bang bumpers, tfl bearings. It's a godsend. Also recommend badger
Hey i know you we´re comparing the eletric capabilities of the one wheel and the mountainboard but you should feel a regular mountainboard. Without the battery and the motors you can feel the dirt even better, try going down a small hill with it. train your slides and you´ll see the similarities to snowboarding! Hug from Portugal and the portuguese mountainboard scene!! :D
I'm sure the bindings make you FEEL much more secured om the Mountainbord, but I've done my share of off-roading and never really wished I had those. I certainly prefer being able to jump off, rather than being able to push it a little harder, but then fall on my face / (silicone) butt.
Look into hillbilly impact shorts hip and tailbone guards. I use them with my mountain board and kitesurfing kites. Way smaller than that butt pad you got.
you will get better in cornering a mountainboard when you learn to drift it or hop the front around, but i guess you already know by now :D really enjoyed the video :)
I think that the Onewheel can make those tight turns because it is inherently unstable. Although this is great for turning it's not so good for cruising. The wide 4 wheel footprint of the skateboard just makes it more stable, faster and makes it easily track in a straight line.
Let's face it. It all comes down to the trail your on. Me I'm glad I choose the onewheel. However I've been on some wide open fire roads a mountain board would be awesome on
Aside from this being non biased and concise and obviously there's a lot of new one wheels available that are far more powerful. I found this very hilarious and refreshing. And the twerking part made me Nearly choke on my coffee
I could slalom those bales on my trampa bro just gotta loosen the trucks and lean hard/ride wide af. You gotta close up and lower your stance a bit on that board bro. Will feel better and more balanced. What ratio and kvs did you got for?
Great video ! Where is this trail? few few mtb tips, try and keep the shoulders as parallel to the board as much as possible, especially when jumping as the board will want to rotate if they are not. 70% body weight the the rear of the board helps traction especially when cornering. Check out Trampa’s channel for some awesome videos 😁
The new Onewheel GT would have killed that hill unlike the XR, and it's a lot faster as well if that matters to you. I personally don't care to go much faster than 20
My first real unicycle!(first one was a cheap plastic one as a kid ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI I never learned to ride)So, this is a true learner, and for a C note, exactly what was needed. After a few weeks, I'm able to easily ride up and down the street. The Good: Solid frame. Has absorbed numerous spills through learning and still solid. Look - great looks, after 6 weeks of bashing Weight - it's really all tire, but as I fall I can easily grab the seat so it doesn't slam the ground. Size - Very adjustable. I'm 6', 33" inseam. I put it mostly up, but could go a bit higher if I needed to. The Bad: Not sure if it's out of the norm, but seat got scraped up quickly. Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Seat is on a round pole, you just turn it and it's straight. Either of the bad I expected to replace once I improved. I'd recommend to anyone else in the learning phase.
Man you look like your having a blast, but I’ve got to say Onewheels feel amazing and the experience is nothing like a e skate. And no offense to your friend, but he’s not the greatest Onewheeler, I could of smoked him on those trails! But still great vid.
Now do the comparison with an electric unicycle with suspension (or even a recent model without suspension) and get completely owned in every single category....
true (I have a Sherman OG and CPro etc) but its still fun to experience other sensations, sold my XR onewheel (also had an XR650R recently) since even the mten4 at half price is far more capable in every way, but now getting esk8 too.. :)
There are cheaper, more powerful boards as well. U could save 600- instead of a GT, u could get a board that goes 35-40mph with full suspension with huge range. That's the thing about competition. It makes the product better, drives prices down. With no direct competitor, Onewheel stays crazy expensive but underpowered. For instance, an electric unicycle with GT specs only cost $850. At GT price- an electric unicycle is 50+mph capable, with full suspension.
O dude, my EUC woulda destroyed both of yous on those trails (& likely any trail). You guys look so slow. Get into a wheel & I guarantee you'll love it.
I’m gonna guess that mountain boards are better in everyway. My experience on the onewheel is that the battery life SUCKS. My friends and I rode some trails in oregon and the battery’s could barely support a BASIC trail with a 1.2 mile loop. Going uphill at all completely destroys the battery life. I have not rode a Mountain board but from what I’ve seen in the videos they are far superior to the onewheel this includes the GT.
Hi Hoody, thank you for the comment. I would say its really personal preference. I love the MB because you are strapped in and can really maneuver. I like the raw power, and the battery life is WAY better. Give it a try you will love it too. That being said the One Wheel certainly has its place, I have seen some people really rip on them! Stay tuned here as we are going to release some awesome new segments on this sport soon!

I told Mike to rock the treaded tires, but he said the power isn't the same. I think they look badass!
agreed! cool idea regardless! Skill plays a huge part in getting the true high speeds Onewheels can get

thanks G
Would be great to have a re-shoot of this but with a GT, that thing has more of everything over the XR
I think we’re gonna do that now that the GT is more readily available. The GT wasn’t out when we filmed this.
or might go for an XR VESC if you can gwt your feet on one :)
Definitely thinking about this live my XR but first thing I noticed when I got it was it needed more torque
Great video. For me, it's mountainboard all the way. Mine is the Ecomobl Telum BA 4WD model. It tears up the tracks like a beast.

The dood on the OneWheel had skills. I secretly hate my OneWheel but I want to love it. I tend to take my Esk8 boards way more.
I'm with you bro I gotta love hate relationship with her. Got me an atlas pro. Tired of riding scared now I go 25 mph chillin
Amazing comparison. I've been riding my onewheel for a while now on dirt, pavement and snow but the mountain board is awesome. I would love to see a second part where you try the boards on groomed snow trails.
I really want to try and e-mountain board. The one wheels are fun playing around with but I feel that the e-boards will be way more capable
Great video. I thought for sure you had at least 200000 subs. You will grow fast I bet.
I’ve been watching your videos and they’re AMAZING I just want to say one more time it was great meeting you in Tahoe with my dad!
I like both, but I dunno if I would feel good with a board strapped top me feet
These look so wild to ride! Must take some serious getting used to!
