I said this before, I'll say it again. I absolutely love these 100 miles reviews. I feel like a lot of shoes take up to 50 miles to break them in, even with modern shoes that allow us to take them out of the box and race in them. The 100 miles is in my opinion what differentiates the first impression from a more informed more valuable review. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but just wanted to voice my appreciation. It's very refreshing to see, particularly in a bigger channel like yours.
I've been running with these endorphin speed since june, i bought it for speed work, but i love them so much i decided to run the marathon i was preparing with. They are over 800 kilometers now but they are still felling brand new. I have a pair of Novablast 4 that have half the mileage and they feel done already. I wish the endorphin speed has a lower drop but overall great choice for someone who want one to do it all (at least it works for me that way) :)
Just bought these for my tempos and intervals. Couldn’t be happier! Thanks for the initial review, it made me more confident to pull the trigger on purchasing these.
Oh man full circle 💯! I found out about this shoe through you and actually how I discovered your channel. SE4 and you have been my favorite ever since. I hope it never changes! But. Just in case; I bought a few pairs 😅
Good review! Interesting take on the MX2. Mach x2 is fire. So easy to pick up pace in that for me personally (5:30-6:30/mile). I find it to be more versatile and much faster the ES3 or 4 which didn’t feel as protective or as fast as my speed 2. Thanks for the video.
ok maybe there is a little hyperbole there, as I don't think the Mach X2 is a bad shoe. but, I feel like there is a disconnect from the name of the shoe and the performance of the shoe. maybe I'm splitting hairs
@@kofuzi Of course no worries. I didn't get that you thought it was a bad shoe at all. Appreciate the review. I just find the X2 so much faster than the regular mach, and the Speed 4 so I was suprised by the comparisons. Always appreciate the commentary and reviews. =)
I still often choose the ES as a do it all running shoe when traveling but the one trip I tried to use it as my casual shoe as well it just left my feet aching all day every day.
I just have 30 miles in my first super shoe..the pro 4 and I’m starting to understand why you shouldn’t run in them to often. I really noticed the slightest camber in the road on my 13 mile long run this morning…
I love the Adidas Boston 12 .With every ride this shoes gets better and better. There is so much variation in the way we run that one shoe is soooo good for one runner while it is exactly the opposite to the other runner. Same is the case of Asics Superblast 2. What amazing ride I get in it and as it has no plate it may be better option for runners who get issues with plated trainers.
When I first got the ES4 I initially disliked it. 40 miles in, they became my favourite shoe in 2024, so versatile, light and snappy. I'm still not a fan of them for my slower paces 5:45-5:30, but fantastic for anything faster. It's a great Half marathon shoe in my opinion, and its very durable, still feeling fresh around 400km with just regular wear like you showed as well.
Very interesting. I froth my ES3’s still, and they’re very close to being done sadly. I’ve tried on the ES4 and was sorely disappointed, bought a Mach 6 instead which has become a gym shoe, just too dead in the foam personally, thinking I’ve made the wrong choice. How does it feel compared to the ES3 later on? Very similar or good but quite different? Thinking I’ll have to re look at the ES5 or an es4 on sale shortly.
@@jordanmcgaw5591 Initially I didn’t like the ES4 as much as the ES3 but they have grown on me and I like them alot now. The ES4 are softer than the 3’s. The 3’s stayed much the same until one day, I felt like they needed to be replaced. I will buy another pair when they go on sale.
@@kerry_runs is the super blast comfortable for a forefoot striker? That’s a big reason I liked the speed so much because it felt light in the heel for me
I have 220 miles on my pair. I love running in them, but I haven't had the same outsole durability as you. I'm a shuffling heel striker, so the outside heel wears down quickly in shoes and this was a little bit quicker than other shoes. Still a fantastic shoe that I should get another 150 or so miles out of. Another alternative might be the Zoomfly 6. I am using both shoes pretty much interchangeably.
The rocker is insane on this shoe, it just pushes you to run fast. Perfect speed work shoe. Can be used for easy/recovery runs, but is merely average at that. Still - very versatile.
ES4 is my current 2nd fave (after last year's DN2)! I actually have more than one pair! Especially love my Fleet Feet exclusive colorway but am kicking myself that I didn't grab the REI exclusive before it sold out. The ES4 beats DN2/3 it in at least one way, and you even touched on it: they work better as streets. So they could absolutely be your one-shoe rotation.
The Speed 4 is a good shoe for anyone who does any Hyrox training, by the way. I've been using the Speed 3 and 4 for workouts, and like to think they compare similarly to the Nitro 3, which is a go-to shoe for Hyrox.
being a not so wealthy man I was looking for a one shoe does all and the endorphin speed line has been that shoe started with the 2 and haven't owned another shoe brand since due to affordability really if I'm gonna spend over £150 on a shoe I want my moneys worth and this definitely delivers 100%my shoe of the year 2 years running lol but ive just been bought pro 4's and omg there great too

I think it's a great time to be a runner. There are so many options available to so many different sets of preferences
Your comment about Mach X was interesting. I don’t have it. But most reviewers believe is a better speed shoe only with a heel issue that has caused some people heel to be cut.
Like the Boston, if the Mach X2 were called something different, I think I wouldn't have such a negative reaction to it. overall, It's a fine shoe, but I consider it way too motion controlled to be fun at fast paces. but that's the great thing about running in 2025. there are a lot of different types of shoes for different types of paces. what works for me may not work for someone else and vice versa. I think that's good for us runners.
I just bought a pair. I don't plan on reviewing it, but I have no idea when the next version might come out, but I wanted to have it to get familiar with what Saucony has been doing with it in the meantime and plus, I'd be able to answer your question then
For fast runners, Endorphin Pro 4 could be the training partner for Endorphin Elite. I demo tested Mach X and Mach X2. Mach X felt meh, but Mach X2 is pretty bouncy which is similar to what I used to feel with Speed 1 and 2. What I didn't like about X2 is the heel counter or rather lack of it. The heel hold was not good. I have put my feet in X3 sample and liked the feel. That said, I think Endorphin Speed is still carrying that versatility which is good but less fun vs the OG. I am hopeful for Speed 5. Good luck at Houston. I am also running HM. I will try to say hello if I get a chance.
I believe brands use the tempo shoe category to give runners a preview of their racing shoes. That could explain the big difference between brands in this category (Saucony-hoka-Adidas)
I don't think it will be a regularly recurring segment. mainly, it will be used whenever there's a tempo shoe I like and I feel like complaining about the changes to the Boston
Something about version 4 hurt my hips. so I sold it. But when running in it , it felt extremely effective and good at marathon pace. But not especially good at treshold or 5-10 K pace. Version 1 was good at all paces, and is my all time favorite running shoe.
Yessir! Just got a pair for speed workouts and just put a tempo run in it, fantastic shoe! I'm thinking of taking it to a 10k race, is that a good idea?
Couldn't agree more when it comes to the Boston 12, I found it most suitable for daily running and recovery runs. That being said, it still is a great shoe for those purposes (don't recommend it for tempo sessions or speed workouts).
After I bought the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 and hit the road at both slow and fast paces, I felt like it caused a heel drag feeling. I thought of resolving this issue by buying a custom insole; however, it's not practical to buy another custom insole. Hence, what I did was sell them to other runners who were looking for and loved this shoe, based on their liking from the reviews of RUclips runner bloggers. Yes, I was able to sell it successfully with a 5 percent discount since it was slightly used
Ive been through 4 pairs of ES4s. I love them, but take issue with the durability, finding they start to feel dead around 350 miles where I would expect to get closer to 400-450 in my tempo shoe. Ive moved on to try a couple options, testing out the Mach x2 (didnt get along with it) and the zoom fly 6 (which Ive found very similar to the saucony).
The Boston has become a long run shoe with the ability to handle speedier efforts mixed in. It lacks the flexibility that the Speeds brings but it does what it’s supposed to do quite nicely. Adidas does seem to lack a viable option in that same space as the Speeds but frankly they really don’t need it.
Seems weird that they took a speedwork shoe (Boston) and turned it into a long run shoe. And then they took their former marathon racer (the Adios), and turned it into a track flat. Seems like we could have maybe flipped that around.
I'm not sure I have the ability to move the needle that much, but I'd love to hear feedback from either retailers or brands if my videos do have that kind of sway
I may be in the minority here, but I was extremely disappointed by the ES4. I found them to be extremely firm, and lacked the versatility that previous models had. It's great for extremely hard efforts though which I believe is what this is more geared toward. However, at the price point there are better options.
I can understand that there are some for whom this shoe doesn't match their preferences. Can you let me know some examples of soft yet speedy shoes that you do enjoy?
In Adidas, Boston 12 is a shoe I use for my long runs because it is able to carry all sort of paces well. I don't need to change shoe for my MRP block in my long runs. Don't quite want to wear Adios Pro in my long run and SL2 become stiff for anything above 90minutes. Considering Evo SL in the future to use for my long run. Good video Ko, as always. Any news on Boston 13?
I have about 200km in my speed 4's and for me personally i wouldn't say i really love them. I am 6'4, 205 lbs so i am a bit of a heavier runner and have never really loved the shoes. Not to say they aren't a great option for someone lighter than myself but they have never given me any real excitement while running. Also have never found them the most comfortable shoe for me but i do tend to lean towards more cushioning as of late.
When v4 of both came out I heard about many runners favoring the Speed over the Pro this time around. I’m another big fan of the Pro3 but didn’t love the Speed3. I stocked up for this year’s marathon season on late-manufactured Pro3’s but will have to figure out what marathon shoe to consider after that.
@@Martha-fluterunner I have 1 more pair of Pro 3's I'm going save for Boston. I'll unbox them for a few races prior. In the mean time, I tried a pair of New Balance Elites and they are much more snappy than the Pro 4's. The funny thing about the Pro 4 is it's a very comfortable shoe, I just don't feel fast in them.
With the tongue, I think it might be a reaction to the tongue on the Endorphin Speed 3 - I have that shoe now and the tongue is so thin it always slips down on my right foot which causes some discomfort from the laces on the top of my foot. So from my perspective an extra visual bit of tongue isn't an issue 😂
Any thoughts on how the Nike Zoom Fly 6 and Adidias Evo SL compare to the ES4? Both seem like they're the Tempo + light daily alt for each brand (and at a lower price point).
Glad you are enjoying this shoe Kofuzi. I was excited to try these on but after inspecting the heel area I decided not to make the purchase because of how delicate the foam inside the heal area is. It would be destroyed within 5 runs no doubt. Do you have a recommendations for a similar plated shoe with better durability?
Speed 4 is a great shoe and I enjoyed running in it for months. However, it gave me black toes when it just started bottoming out. Never happened with other shoes before.
Per my question on yesterday's LS about an alternative to Mach6 to rotate with Hyp Max2 for LR's (some of which have GMP miles), I don’t want the MachX but forgot about the Speed4 bc I didn’t like v3. I also want some flexibility which is why I went thru 2 pairs of Mach6 mostly on LR's. What do you think about Speed4 vs another Mach6 for LR cushion? I know both are up to faster paces.
@@laalaa99stlThanks-Ko did mention the Kinvara Pro but he knows the others wouldn’t work for me. I don’t like very soft midsoles which would exclude the Neo Vista and Balos, and the SuperBlast is way too chonky for me at 101 lbs 5’3”, very fast cadence. Even the NovaBlast -of which I went through 2 pairs-didn’t ultimately agree with my mechanics and gave me niggles. I will check out the Kinvara Pro and still consider the Speed4 or just another Mach6.
Now I want some Totino’s Pizza Rolls 😅 Been looking for a beginner’s training shoe that I can use to start training for my first half marathon. Sometimes I experience metatarsalgia. Any recommendations?
I love the speed 4 and the Boston 12. I know everyone is different but I find the Boston12 so much better and tempo / speed work outs compared to the speed 4. To me - The Boston 12 has a better forefoot feeling and pop , which I love for fast paces . The speed 4 has the better soft heel sensation which is nice at daily training and not race paces. I’m writing all this to say. It’s so interesting how we all have different opinions, experiences, etc with shoes
For me, particularly as a big runner 511 200 Running about 35 to 40 miles per week This is my primary shoe and actually held up better than the speed three
300 km’s in mine. Don’t love it as much as Endo 2 but great for versatility and also taking it on holiday. Prefer it for long runs over speed workouts.
this is only kind of related to your post, but something that I was just thinking about today is that so many people tell me about how much they loved the Endorphin Speed 2. but no one ever mentions that they loved the Endorphin Speed 1. But when the Endorphin Speed 2 came out, I don't remember being able to find any meaningful differences between the two shoes.
@@kofuziI came to the party late so never tried version 1 Mike. It’s interesting because it seems as if the 4s are going to last a lot longer than my 2s so durability has improved, at least for me.
the boston 12 is heads above saucony come on. the endorphin speed 4 is not responsive enough. and mediorce at best when compared to lighting strike pro. also the zoom fly 6 isa better shoe than this. the love saucony gets fort his shoe since is ridiculous.
it makes complete sense to me that a person that loves the Boston 12 exactly the way it is would not enjoy the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 as much as I do. and fwiw, I'm not saying the Boston 12 is bad. it's just a bad Boston. I have strong opinions on what a shoe named after the Boston Marathon shoe be like. and I would like the Boston 12 a lot more under a different name. Don't quite want to wear Adios Pro in my long run and SL2 become stiff for anything above 90minutes. Considering Evo SL in the future to use for my long run. Good video Ko, as always. Any news on Boston 13?
Way good review!
thanks for watching!
Is the adidas evo sl a good replacement for the saucony ES 4? As an easy run/training shoe I use the nike peg 41
the evo SL is a bit closer to the Peg Plus, but there's a lot of overlap
Think I prefer the speed 3 but still a great buy.
I have the speed 3 and 2, 2 is my fav
But i find the endo 3 as a daily shoe and dont opt for it for tempo and prefer the peg plus for speed
How is the speed 4 compared to the zf6?
I have not tested the zoom fly 6
@kofuzi hope you can test it soon and let us know how is it comparing to the speed 4. Cheers. :)
Speed 4 is by far my least favourite version. I loved version 1-3 but this one just doesn't feel right on my foot.
I LOVE the Speed 4! To me the Speed 4 is FASTER than the Pro 4. The Pro 4 was such a disappointment over the Pro 3.
Nice Hyrox shoe there. Tbh I don’t like the smell when they come out of the box
interesting. I've never done hyrox
@@kofuzi either they go with puma deviate or saucony endorphin. Hyrox is pretty big here in europe.
Sick!
What's your thoughts on comparison with the Mizuno flash 2? Mainly for 5 and 10k races and fast tempo runs (1k repeats etc)?
I don't love the wave rebellion flash 2, but that is due to a strong dislike of Mizuno wave plates. So I would personally prefer the Endorphin Speed 4
With the tongue, I think it might be a reaction to the tongue on the Endorphin Speed 3 - I have that shoe now and the tongue is so thin it always slips down on my right foot which causes some discomfort from the laces on the top of my foot. So from my perspective an extra visual bit of tongue isn't an issue 😂
that was a strange tongue on v3. totally forgot about that
Any thoughts on how the Nike Zoom Fly 6 and Adidias Evo SL compare to the ES4? Both seem like they're the Tempo + light daily alt for each brand (and at a lower price point).
I'd say the Evo SL is closer to a Peg Plus than it is the Endorphin Speed 4
I have not tested the Zoom Fly 6
Glad you are enjoying this shoe Kofuzi. I was excited to try these on but after inspecting the heel area I decided not to make the purchase because of how delicate the foam inside the heal area is. It would be destroyed within 5 runs no doubt. Do you have a recommendations for a similar plated shoe with better durability?
Zoom Fly 6
I'm sorry but how can it be destroyed in 5 runs if you're watching a video of him doing 100 mile in them and saying they feel like brand new?
@@neagah13 Kofuzi is a forefoot striker and I'm a heel striker
how about the boston 12 after a 100 miles?
Anyone know the song in the beginning? Absolute banger ❤
Speed 4 is a great shoe and I enjoyed running in it for months. However, it gave me black toes when it just started bottoming out. Never happened with other shoes before.
hmmm. that's an interesting observation
Sounds like PWR RUN foams just don't break down. I've got 500+ in the PWR RUN+ Rides and they just won't die.
Yo! will the "sniff test" now be part of all reviews going forward?😄
for reviews, only if a shoe is smelly
but I smell test all shoes when I unbox them on the livestreams
Per my question on yesterday's LS about an alternative to Mach6 to rotate with Hyp Max2 for LR's (some of which have GMP miles), I don’t want the MachX but forgot about the Speed4 bc I didn’t like v3. I also want some flexibility which is why I went thru 2 pairs of Mach6 mostly on LR's. What do you think about Speed4 vs another Mach6 for LR cushion? I know both are up to faster paces.
For LR cushion the short list would be SB1/SB2, Neo Vista, Kinvara Pro, and maybe Balos.
Now I want some Totino’s Pizza Rolls 😅
Been looking for a beginner’s training shoe that I can use to start training for my first half marathon. Sometimes I experience metatarsalgia. Any recommendations?
I'm afraid I don't have the knowledge to make a recommendation regarding metatarsalgia
For me, particularly as a big runner
511 200
Running about 35 to 40 miles per week
This is my primary shoe and actually held up better than the speed three
glad to hear it's working for you!
I had speed 3..I know the look of that shoe it’s no good! Superblast 2 on way..can’t wait!! I’m all about the forefoot
Are there similar models ? My ES 4 were great but I‘m looking for sth new
yes. see the two "vs" chapters in this video to see the shoes that I consider the closest alternatives
Can't you wash the shoes to get rid of the stains?
I suppose one could. I tend to think of the stains on running shoes as hard earned patina
@kofuzi ah, I see 🙂👍🏻🤣
After I bought the brooks glycerin max i am now not interested anymore in shoes reviews anymore and i have 20+ shoes just saying
I couldn't agree more!
Yo, what’s going on!!
yo Luis!
@@kofuziAlso. Maybe more people bought the 2s because of the hype created by the original and that’s why you hear more about it? Who knows.
They don't feel like they have 100 miles on them because you only weigh 130 pounds!😂
the boston 12 is heads above saucony come on. the endorphin speed 4 is not responsive enough. and mediorce at best when compared to lighting strike pro. also the zoom fly 6 isa better shoe than this. the love saucony gets fort his shoe since is ridiculous.
The fit of the B12 is rough. Even after downsizing the slippage in the heel is rough. Mine are just sitting 😢
So you're listing Carbon plated shoes that will last half the mileage to a nylon shoe? Ok
Sorry. Misread. Boston isn't plated is it? I have the speed 4 and love it. Wanted something that'll last a couple marathons minimum
The shoe not working for you does not change the fact that it does work well for lots of people. People can love shoes you do not like.
it makes complete sense to me that a person that loves the Boston 12 exactly the way it is would not enjoy the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 as much as I do.
and fwiw, I'm not saying the Boston 12 is bad. it's just a bad Boston. I have strong opinions on what a shoe named after the Boston Marathon shoe be like. and I would like the Boston 12 a lot more under a different name. I could probably also say the same for the Mach X2.
