I bought mine and watched your tutorial to install on my Lexus. Thank you! The instructions that came with it were garbage and this is one of the best videos explaining it.
Thank you so much for making this video. Installed mines for a weekend trip. No bungee cords needed. The rack is solid. Without the video I would have lost my patience😎👍👍
best instruction video i have seen on any accessory really well detailed and good quality! waiting for my bike rack to get delivered today for my 19' Forester!
What a wonderful video Nelson! You went above and beyond and I mean that! From tools needed, to mistakes made, how to pick the bike up for more ease, how the straps work. Thank you very much for this brother! ❤️👌🏻✌🏻
I'm so glad you enjoyed the details! I'm not an expert reviewer and just try to show the things I personally would have wanted to know. Thanks so much for sharing!
Seems like a really good product that's not at all expensive. I tried using the instructions that came with it and they are possibly the worst! I should have watched your video as I was doing the installation lol-thanks for making this!!
Very informative. Do you know the exact inside width of the u-bolts? It says 3 inches on Amazon but my crossbars are 3 1/8 inches wide. Hoping they come a little wider than advertised so it will fit my cross bars.
Hi Nelson, I just got it installed and noticed it makes some uncomfortable sound and looks unstable when going over bumps. Did that ever happen to you? Any suggestions?
What is your longest trip? how is it doing. i am putting this on my trailer, to keep from having to lay my bike down. Ordered new U bolts, since the ones that came are not long enough. Good video. Thx, Rod
The longest would probably be 4 hours away with two bikes, and we have gone on many 3-4 hour trips over the past two seasons. Good idea to use on your trailer.
i have a similar upright bike rack that is bolted to my roof rack...but how would you LOCK the bike rack to the roof rack. if someone wants to steal the bike and bike rack, all they have to do is loosen the bolts. any ideas?
I have not tried one...but, I would think it would work. Like on the bigger bikes the holder attaches down farther, so on a smaller bike it would just attach up farther (I think).
I’ve lost key and im from the Philippines swagman website locking knob out of stock already. Is swagman upright has universal key for all or one key for each upright? Help me. Thank you.
I just bought the same roof rack and there’s an issue with the rear part of the bike rack. After I attach the bike rack to my cross bars, I’m noticing when I put the U bolt into the rack, the bolt is touching the top of my roof and scratching the paint. The U bolt is too long and I have a hard time putting the nuts on. Is there anything I can do? Thxs!
Hey Andy, I'm surprised it would be hitting it. The U bolt points up so the only distance would be the thickness of the bolt. I don't understand how that would touch the car with the roof racks there?
Could you install these so the bike faces the back? I'd like to install 4 on my van and they'd fit better if I alternate the direction they face. Thoughts?
@@nelsonleemiller was just a question. Thank you for the reply.. was curious because if they wanted to steal the bike even though it locks where it clamps on, they would just have to unscrew the screw and pretty much steal the bike and the rack together
Or just use a bolt cutter and leave the screwdriver at home. You cannot prevent theft, but you can deter it. Maybe put a bike lock around the bike and roof racks.

Thanks so much! Instructions vague, but you were spot on! Keep doing what you’re doing ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Hey guys update on this rack. Works perfect went on a trip to Flushing Meadow Park and no worries at all. It's is safe to go through car wash also.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Awesome video!! Thanks for mentioning the size wrenches I’ll need. You rock!!!!
Happy to help!

Thank you for the video Nelson, I got swagman upright roof bike rack.
Awesome, mine are still going strong after lots of use!
@@nelsonleemiller I drove from Pittsburgh to Greensboro,NC and driving to Oklahoma Saturday. Thank you again.
@@JayGoonetilleke I've definitely used mine on at least a dozen trips all over 3 hours each.

nice video great explanation im looking for an inexpensive rack for my car this seems like a good pick
Yes it is about the only one on the market I could find and it works great.
Great tutorial. Question, after a year, are you still happy with it? I’m thinking to buy one. Thanks.
Yes, we have continued to use them and are very happy with them, they work very well for such an affordable price.
Thank you so much for your review...

Hi Nelson, I just got it installed and noticed it makes some uncomfortable sound and looks unstable when going over bumps. Did that ever happen to you? Any suggestions?
Oh, I never noticed any issue at all with mine.
Dude, you made my day!
Thank you a lot!
Awesome, glad it was helpful!👍
Nice video! How about long distance performance ? Will it get loose after driving 100+ miles?
I have driven much farther than that 20 times, no issues.
Also what state are you in? Looks beautiful, I’m from SW Wa State.
I'm near Gettysburg in Pennsylvania and I enjoy my state's beautiful scenery very much.
My locking clamp knob just keeps spinning loosely. Does it need the bike in the rack to spin right
Hmm I don't know about that issue, but no it doesn't need the bike in it to work.
What is your longest trip? how is it doing. i am putting this on my trailer, to keep from having to lay my bike down. Ordered new U bolts, since the ones that came are not long enough. Good video. Thx, Rod

i have a similar upright bike rack that is bolted to my roof rack...but how would you LOCK the bike rack to the roof rack. if someone wants to steal the bike and bike rack, all they have to do is loosen the bolts. any ideas?
I think for that you would simply add a bike lock cable around your rooftop bars, but then they could unscrew that too...
Is the kids bike like 16" could fit on that? Wondering about that middle thing, the main part that hold the bike...
I have not tried one...but, I would think it would work. Like on the bigger bikes the holder attaches down farther, so on a smaller bike it would just attach up farther (I think).
Does the carriage bolt fit for you ?
I don't have any trouble with any bolts.
Hey brother just wanted to ask if I can go through the car wash with my bike rack. Or do you recommend hand washing instead? Thanks a million
I'm not sure, I have never done a car wash. I wouldn't see why not though.
@@nelsonleemiller Thanks Nelson 🙌
does it holds the bike pretty good when youre on the road?
Yes, we have traveled on 3-4 trips across the state with 2 bikes and they do excellent. No issues at all, I'm very happy with them.
now im decided to get this one on amazon, thank you for the info you shared
@@jamesdelarosa7814 You are welcome, hopefully I can do a review soon too.
Good video. Thanks.
I dont understand how the plastic tipped nuts even fit the bolt. I cant even get them past like 3 twists on. What am I doing wrong man??
I'm not sure, I don't recall having any issue like that.
I’ve lost key and im from the Philippines swagman website locking knob out of stock already. Is swagman upright has universal key for all or one key for each upright? Help me. Thank you.
I'm not sure about that, I assume the key is different otherwise anyone could buy one and use it to steal.
What is the maximum wheel base length this bike rack holds? I have a 29 in. wheel bike with a wheel base of 45 in.
Hi David, I am not sure but my bike has 29" tires and is one of the larger frames, and it is fine.

Nelson Miller The rear section of the rack has the U bolt facing down and the front U bolts are facing up.
@@andysuh7479 Oh yeah, I guess you'd have to hacksaw the bolts shorter. I have plenty of room on my car.

Good question. I don't see why not. It seems like that would work, but I haven't tried it
Hii did you alternate the direction ? How did that go?
@@adrianasanchez8065 I ended up not purchasing them as they were sold out everywhere this spring.
When you open your trunk does it hit the rails on the roof?
No definitely not.

Do these fit any style of roof rack?
I don't see why not.
@@nelsonleemiller thanks for replying back. 👍🏾
There's noway to lock the rack itself?
Not sure what you mean. You can lock the part where it clamps the bike on. Now sure how you would lock the rack in, it's screws...
