@@guilhermegamper9844 The reason non-caged go karts do not have a seat belt is because if it flips and god forbid a fire were to spark out, he would be trapped head in the ground on fire. Orlando kart center is probably the most high risk kart place I've ever been to. The rental karts are fast, the workers are slow, and they let anyone wheel them without ensuring they're safe drivers. It's great fun, but I've had multiple events with crazy aggressive people on track who don't have any regard for the safety of others. Glad to see you're alright though!
For people asking why there are no seatbelts. If karts had seatbelts I would be dead or seriously injured and that probably goes the same for many kart racers around the world. It’s like having seatbelts on a bike. You don’t really want to be attached to a flipping, out of control, potentially on fire machine where your head is literally the roof. You’re much better off being thrown from the machine. Thing’s like neck braces, rib protectors and good quality racewear and helmets will do a lot more good than a seatbelt would in karting. Also better run off, I don’t know the context or layout of the track but not having a sandpit/gravel and instead just a rigid barrier seems weird.
Exactly, flipped my cart and it wasnt that serious but it would had taken ages to climb out with a seatbelt, if it then would had been on fire id be fucking dead or hospitalized
This is the same reason why kart racing suits and auto racing suits (or firesuits) are different and should be used accordingly. The primary dangers when involved in a crash are very different between the two racing disciplines. In karting, the suit is abrasion resist to protect the driver if thrown from the kart. In Auto racing ( where harnesses are used), the suit is not designed to protect against abrasion since the risk of being ejected from the race vehicle is much lower. They are primarily designed to protect against fire risks and buy time for the racer to get themselves out or be extracted from a burning car.

People who are worried about the barrier: the barrier is not solid, at least not in impact zones like this one. They're mounted on ~18in springs in areas like these, and can absorb a lot of energy. You can see it reveal itself when the red barrier cover comes off after it gets hit, which is probably there to protect track workers from banging their shin on the spring mount.

No tyre barrier at the end of a straight
Better to check the back, hope you are fine
A solid barrier right after the main straight. What a great idea...
that barrier has absolutely no business being at the end of a straight
I had a similar accident but thank god I went through two plastic barriers before coming to a stop. OKC’s barriers there make no sense to me. Needs more run off
not the best place you want to park
nah, hope you are ok and soon back on the track!
I was back on track an hour later
Glad you're ok. Also glad the impact barriers did their job, coulda been a lot worse. I wonder if they'll consider putting in gravel or sand and moving the wall back
That was huge and really painful hopefully your ok
Hi Eric,
What a big hit! Luckily you're okay. I would like to ask if it's possible to use this video for a "Motorsport crash compilation 2023". Obviously I will add you channel name on the video and with link in description. Let me know if it's okay for you ;)
I cringed so hard watching that in .25x
The willwood brakes ad on the arm of the race suit makes this just a little bit funny
haha, I wish. it says "Goodwood"
@@erickunzracing ah! I was trying to think of if there were other motor sports sponsors who would be there and couldn’t think of any.
Big shout to the helmet. It saved your life big time.
you can see the moment he pressed the brakes and the kart didnt break, it must be a horrible feeling. Thanks for sharing
Gotta love how brakes can be like,
"Now. Now. Now. Ooh, butterfly. Oh."
Hope you’re okay man that looked so bad
Damn did you lose brakes. That was a BRUTAL slow down.
Still, that barrier is damn stupid. At least give some run off into some tires, especially after the main straight
I thought you for sure snapped your right leg. Very glad you are OK.
Damn dude I bet you were sore for at least a couple months Jesus glad you're ok man
My back is still sore
Bro??? His leg just bent like 90 degrees sideways LMAO. This looks so fucking painful. But it also looks so funny in 0.25 speed 😂😂😭😭. Glad you're okay bro, shitttt. I used to work at a go-kart track, but never crashed this hard
Are you ok? That was a big one, confirm that you're ok please.
how the hell you did not brake your leg man omg im so glad you are ok but man, that was wild
Uhhhh That must have been very painful. I hope you are fine in the next race mate🙂
damn that was harsh, i lost my breath just watching, hope you got back asap and didn't let this crash scare you
I flew off a moto once doing only about 20 mph, and I could barely walk for a week without pain meds. Can't imagine this. Ouch!
Drive fast, take chances…and you my friend did both. 🤙🏽 glad you survived that.
no way you walked off that shit! :O damn that was a rough one!!
Ouch! Seems like a few cracked ribs, maybe dislocated shoulder at least, it's amazing you walked away from that unscathed lol
Nah just a bit bruised. I have no clue how I got so lucky
One thing I’m surprised is that there is a lack of run off, I would’ve understood if it was a corner without incidents but to me it doesn’t make sense that there is a barrier right on the edge, I’m just glad you were ok
wow! thank god your ok man
Are you ok? That was a big one, confirm you are ok
Dang that was violent and so fast! Glad you were ok!
I used to race shifter karts as a teenager and one of the things my father and I always talked about was the fact that they should revise them to fit proper seats with proper monocoques and a HANS device.
damn to just walk of track after a crash like that. man you are built of steel. hope you are doing well
Thank goodness for the protection you were wearing. That was a hard hit
I did that in Doswell Virginia 1994 went into the chain link fence. My brake pad hit the back of my helmet when I hit the brakes. Bent my steering shaft. I kept it for a souvenir for a reminder for a long time
This happened to me about about 3 years ago. Broken arm / leg got thrown out the kart 30ft as it was after a long straight on a hairpin. 125 Rotax max
Was horrible in hospital for over a month at height of Covid, was having scans for months after just to check I was ok. After watching the CCTV and the damage to the track kart the specialist has no idea how I didn’t break my neck / back.
Turns out the Bengio Carbon saved my life basically!
Year later did some 4 stoke just to get myself gong again won the second event.
But I lost the love for karting and not been since. I want a life and kids and it’s to risky. Karting was my life loved everything about it, but the risk to get badly hurt is way to high.
The dude just obliterated the entire safety barrier cushion.
Holy crap man. I hope your ok. Thank god I’ve never experienced that in my time in racing(so far)
