Una aclaración fué José Luis Moreno el locutor de radio mil que al escuchar junto a José José QEPD la canción el Príncipe al terminar la pieza dijo acaban de escuchar el príncipe con el príncipe de la canción José José y desde ahí se le quedó ese epíteto al maestro José José QEPD, todo esto dicho por el propio José José,lo que si es que Sinatra quiso grabar con él y las disqueras no se pusieron de acuerdo y por eso no se hizo ese dueto, saludos.

Yeah José José is one of the greats, I am 23 years old but I grew up listening to this type of music thanks to my grandparents, and he is one of the best.

First time I heard Jose Jose I knew he would be a legend in the world of music. I was only 23 same age as Jose Jose in '70. El Principe de la cancion.
Don't know if you can understand what Jose Jose is singing, but just in case you're not. Here's the lyrics in English. This was a song he composed for his recently deceased mother at that moment, and this performance is why he became a legend in Mexico. Obtaining the nickname "The Prince of the song". A nickname he used his entire career.

José José, the Prince of the Song, performing El Triste, WOW. This is excellence.
The video corresponds to the Second Latin Song Festival in 1970, he came in third place but the public did not agree and asked him to sing again, they threw flowers at him (as a symbol that the public declared him a winner) and he obtained a standing ovation from the assistants. The images that passed from attendees were of famous singers in Mexico at that time who were impressed.
It became an icon in Mexico and in Latin America.
There are many covers of this song but since it is not a simple song to sing, not all of them achieve a good interpretation.
This amazing voice is still a legend, when he passed away all of Mexico celebrated this man. It is sad that at the end of his life he lost his voice. Drugs played a big roll. Jose Jose for me will be one of the greatest balladeers that ever lived.. May you rest in peace sweet prince.

I remember my parents listening to José José while I was growing up. He is a classic timeless voice, like Juan Gabriel. I'm happy to see you're tapping into this culture. We have some pretty cool music lol.

José is simply the best, I mean my God, now that is a singer, no joke, just all around masterful, majestic, magical, powerful beautiful voice and interpretation skills unmatched by anyone past or present, you should hear these three songs, but with subtitles so you get the whole emotion of them, I recommend them in this order, first would be “Quémame los ojos” then “Un poco más” and the last one,”Gotas de fuego” Thank you God for bringing José José to the world, a couple of beers, a cigarette and Jose singing, what a joy to be alive 😊

That was an incredible night and even though I was a little kid, I still remember watching it live on tv. The man shown dropping his jaw very surprised was at the time, an already well-known and recognized Mexican singer nicknamed "the luxury of Mexico." That´s the size of the impact Jose Jose caused in the entire Hispanic world with his disrupting incursion in the music scene. And, yes, he met all blue eyes and sang a song for him at Sinatra´s birthday party in 1980 I believe. Great reaction, thank you.
i fell in love with his songs at 14 years. I'm 52 years, and his songs still captivate me.
I recall my parents saying this was like American Idol of Mexico and he just got a standing ovation for this performance and won. I still practice this song. And learned the mese de voce from him. Such a powerful voice.
He was called El Principe de las Canciones. The Prince of Songs. Jose Jose was indeed one of the best. My whole family loves him.

I was lucky enough to meet that drummer once! He told me about the huge bass and snare drums he must use: there were no stage nor side field monitors back then, so he had to SLAM those drums! In fact, because of this very fact, he was the first mexican drummer in use an electric, amplified drumset.

Jose Jose was one of the greatest singers in Spanish. This video is one example of his work. He is amazing in this song but i want to bring attention to the beautiful lyrics of this song. A true romantic to the core. BTW, this video was from a singing contest in 1970 where this performance garnered third place. The song is a classic in Spanish. what were the judges that night thinking.

Jose Jose hijo de cantante de opera , sin quitarle ningun mérito. La cancion la compuso Roberto Cantoral , estando fuera de Mexico fallece su madre, regresa a México en el avion compone la cancion . Excelente composicion , excelente arreglo musical , excelsa interpretacion . Dato aparte Roberto Cantoral tambien fue presidente de La Asociacion Nacional de Autores y Compositores. He was so talented, he has opera knowledge , unfortunatly he was alcoholic and he Lost his voice.
Many mexican singer try to sing his songs but it's almost imposible.
He died free years ago and México cries a Lot, he was a treasure for mexican people.

There is a recording in Spotify called Jose Jose para siempre. They recorded all the instruments again with modern equipment and rescued his voice. It sounds amazing
