Informative. Update is that no original passport needs to be sent. Copies of original passport duly notarized must be sent.
Thanks, both your original video and this update were very useful in preparing the new minor OCI application! One recent update is that they now require a clear notarized copy of the minor's US passport to be included (along with the minor's original US passport) as part of the application package.
From April 12 th no need to submit US passport or notarized US passport is not required.. please refer below updated video

I have a question - As suggested to avoid multiple times notarizing the forms - I have uploaded the Non-Notarized Parental Authorization form and generated the form - and Notarized both forms. After we re-upload the Notarized Parental Authorization form do we need to resubmit the form or just exit and follow part 3 of the OCI process. Please confirm.

When I upload the unsigned non-notarized authorization form, I will have to hit the "Final Submit" button to generate the application so that I can notarize both together. I have a question. In your video at timeline 3.33, after we upload the Non-notarized Parental Authorization form, do i have to click on "Final Submit" to generate the form , before notarizing, so that we don't have to notarize it twice? The words "Final Submit" just seems to be something that we cant get back for anything else. So wanted to confirm if that's it or something i am missing.

Question - When you upload the documents should they be self attested? Or is it only required to self attest the the physical copies that you send to VFS?
On the current version of the form, the CAPACITY field does not have an entry box. Do we still need to write PARENTS?

Question - Does minor and parent's signature related content in video still hold good? I see video is slightly old hence question.
I am confused looking at page #3 of form. There are two sections 1) Declaration 2) *Application for Minor Child. Both sections have tag "Signature of the Applicant". Based on text written in second section, it feels that parent should sign it. I am confused who should sign in front of "Signature of Applicant" in this section.
Yes the content is for parents, that’s why parents sign below and in “applicants signature “ - applicant will sign

No need to take infant to notary, parents can sign in front of notary and after coming home you can take the thumb print

If your applying for new oci , then yes . passport will be returned back after verification in 1-2week

Thank you for the video, Suja. very informative. I applied for OCI for my 9 year old daughter. But I got email from VFS saying that it is put on hold because there is no "address proof".
But I had put self-attested DL copies of mine and my wife's with the application. What am I missing? Should I send this doc again? Does my minor's application need something else other than DL as address proof?
DL should be enough, try to send an email saying you have already submitted the address proof.. also check once that your dl address and the address you have mentioned in the application are same

I tried to do notary for parental authorization form in chase bank and they have provided an additional sheet with notary stamps instead of signing on 'Parental authorization form' stating that they do not have needed text on the document we provided. Have you come across this question anytime? I am in Austin, Texas.

I was asked to send extra return label for the passport in Atlanta in April 2021
Because you have send your original passport and only got two labels , so they are asking extra return label to send back your passport

There are 7 categories to upload but we have more Than 7 documents to upload. how should I Upload the rest of the documents? If I combine some of these documents the file size limit come into play. Dear Suja, my daughter is Naturalized and has a US passport and no Naturalization certificate. So what do I upload in her case in the government website. VFS documentation says you can submit a notarized letter stating why we no naturalization document in the document submission to VFS. I used that letter to get indian itizenship renounciation done. Hello Suja, do I need to regenerate the Application form after the re-upload of notarized parent authorization form or just the upload is enough? I am not sure if clicked on regenerate whether it will have the same application number or will generate a new application number(If so VFS global has also need to be updated with new number but I already made the payment). Please advise.
No need to regenerate the application form, even if you do you will have the same application reference number

hello Suja ... thank you for the video ... i have a question ... i can see that u have applied from Virginia ... what did u write in the govt. application form in the place of birth ... do we need to write just Virginia usa or we have to write the county name also ... we have already submitted the form with just Virginia usa (which is as per the passport) ...is their anyway we can change it now .

Hello Suja... your video is very helpful...However I have some questions regarding OCI for Minor (Shipping labels and OCI Payment)..
1. If we choose to Pay OCI for Minor as cashiers check or money order, do we made separate checks for different fees or same check for all the different types of fees ?
2. If we choose to use our own shipping method rather then selecting their shipping service, should we add 2 separate shipping labels along with the application for return of US passport and OCI card? Do we have to include envelopes as well?
1) I think it should be same check , when you select cashier check it should pop I guess
2) yes , 2 shipping labels for passport and oci . If ur choosing other than fedex include the envelopes

Hi Suja, i followed your original video for applying oci , it was very helpful thank you for that , I got my kid passport back today almost after one month after applying , I never got any confirmation about tracking number from vfs. Do you know normally how long it takes to get a tracking number?

You will be able to track in gov website once vfs send your application to embassy..
AT 3:40 You saying to upload the parental authorization form without notary and generate the application form. How can I generate the application in between?. Later on you are saying once all the documents has been uploaded then submit the application. So how to generate the application form in between to get it notarized to avoid 2 trips?. Do i need to final submit the form after uploading parental form (without notary), click on "final submit", generate the Application form. Get both document notarized. Then Final submit again. Does it allows to final submit twice?

@@1924shruti i submitted without the original pp on 3rd mar and havent got any query yet. i believe , as the processing is delayed due to covid and the office cannot hold the pp for so long, they are no more asking for original pp.

Hello Suja, your video is very informative. In Costco they don’t click photo with eye glasses on. Is it ok to upload photo without glasses though the kid wears eye glasses.

I have paid for the round-trip courier but the VFS system generates only inbound courier labels only. Why is this so?
Our Portal generates only incoming courier label (from You to the VFS office). This is because the outgoing courier label will be generated by VFS Indian Consular application Centre on the day of dispatching your document. You will be informed about the FedEx tracking number on the day documents are dispatched.

Hi Many thanks for the effort you made. I followed the steps you shown and my application is under process and I got back my baby's passport to the address provided at the time of OCI application. Now, I am in odd situation in which I need relocate. Now my question is how to update/change the address in the vfs to get the oci? Do I need to provide the address proof again ? Plz share the details.
You need to contact vfs regarding this , mostly they will ask you to send prepaid label for the new address . And also if you can keep a watch on old address if in case oci delivered you that address you can follow that ..
Don’t forget to enclose the Application confirmation receipt & return the Courier label (if generated
online) else enclose the pre-paid label

It’s the “file reference number” present in the oci card itself ..

For OCI Card Notary for Minors, I got the notary done in UPS and they did not put the notary stamp on the Application form and Parental authorization form because it does not have the Notary verbiage. But he did provide Notary identity verification forms for both. Will that work or do i need to get the notary stamp done on the Application and Parental authorization form ?
in the checklist its mentioned as notary (stamp and sign ), so please check with vfs before sending your documents , you can raise query with vfs ..
