India as always, can‘t see far enough from their own nose, only go for short term profit.
No big tech company will come to India, because they know, Indian officials and courts will robbed them blind with all kind of excuses and penalties.
Discounted oil from Russia is short term gain which can not extend into a long term industry, especially when Ukraine war ended and oil priced back to normal.
And the funny part was, India pay Ruppees to Russia for oil, but when Russia wants to pay Indian exports with Ruppees, India actuallt say NO.😂😂😂
Indians never learned to build a trust worthy long term relationship with other country.

Excellent analysis… yes, India CAN learn a lot from China in many aspects…
    1. Alternative energy… as v know ev’s are the future… and when u have an ev “grandmaster” like China, there’s so much to learn, and use it in our society also… y can’t v learn from shenzhen as to how to manage ev infrastructure in such an efficient way so as to benefit a large section of the society so that they move into alternative energy and thereby make a positive difference to the planet… why can’t v encourage BYD and others to set up shop here, bring in cutting edge technologies that would benefit us!!!.. this is such a topic, I can go on and on infinitely, because as an ev owner myself, I know the struggles I need to face with just charging the vehicle…
    2. Poverty alleviation…
Poverty is a “state of being”, but like Newton’s second law, an object (human, in this case), can’t “indefinitely” be in poverty forever!!!!.. we have all seen how the IT revolution actually pulled people out of poverty and gave them a respectable standard of living.. we need to really pull people out of poverty and it should be done asap!!!.. China comes in because their poverty percentage is hardly anything!!!.. and v can’t be proud of 80 crore people having a “bheek ka katora” right!!.!. Just because our PM is shameless about it, can v b?.
    3. Rightly said that China needs cooperation from us in many aspects rather than “enimity”.. for people who claim to be “anti China” and throw tv’s from the balconies, let me tell you something…
The Japanese committed atrocities and unspeakable acts against Korean women (especially), during WW2 and called them names and slurs that I can’t write here, but where are they now?.
Both japan and Korea have an excellent trade relationship, and their trade is always at record highs!!.. yes, when a Japanese delegation visits Korea, or the other way round happens, people do remind the Japanese of the unspeakable atrocities committed during WW2, but, barring that, everything is great!!.!.
Do they burn Japanese vehicles, and bar the Japanese from conducting business in Korea?. No!!!.. same way, the Koreans aren’t prevented by the Japanese ever!!..
Enemity on the battleground shouldn’t percolate into every day dealings.. that’s different, this is different…
We need wholesale assistance from the Chinese and v need it urgently!!!.. asap!!!.!. Just hope someone “truly sane” in the BJP government actually drills it into their heads so that they can realise blunder that’s happening and take corrective steps….
High Time v actually maintain excellent relationships with the Russians and ensure everything is really “changa si”, and not having enemity with anyone…

      1. India can't even harness the current energy structure like coal and Petrol, EV are too distant in the future it's almost Utopian for India
      2. Poverty Alleviation are Impossible to achieve for India because Poverty alleviation are not actually dependent on Economic policy, it's actually almost entirely political and current Indian ruler don't want their people to escape poverty because if they do then Ambani and Adani will kill the PM.
      3. You're correct in this. but today situation are changing extremely since 1990s, now India don't have a single Leverage to cooperate or negotiate with China. this might be the reason why India are moving toward the west, because Modi and Jay shangkar thought that the west Need them more to counter China

Dear Sir, for this visit India is likely to pay very heavily in the times to come. Russia is a gone country. We for cheap oil for some times will neither have Russia on our side nor USA. China and Russia will be for each other. Russia+ China are in opposition to the US. We have a Government which is more like a businessman and not whose constituents have ' Jigra'/ Gurda.

Whatever Modi's preference for India's geopolitical position, Washington has other ideas. The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, reportedly said "There’s no such thing as strategic autonomy during a conflict,” meaning US expects India to toe its line in the global competition with China and Russia. To be sure, it's in India's interest to promote its own interests above all other countries, but it's also clear Washington will force New Delhi to be with it or against it. Things are getting very interesting for India.

To me, the biggest challenge of India is how to bring its 800 M people out of the poverty line. Without significant improvement in this one indicator, India may become the No. 1 or 2 Global economic power but it will be useless unless its benefits are passed to the bottom 50% of the population. Why the US is failing and constantly losing its grip on global order, it failed to recognize and look after its 50% poor pollution during the last 30m years. The average income of the bottom 50% of the US declined in the last 30 years and that too of the top 1% increased multiple times. This is not democracy but a kleptocracy. I have strong faith and hope in the depth if the Indian masses and its 4000 years old civilization that it will not repeat the mistake of the US and will frame growth strategies for its 50% poor classes, not 1% elite. With 'The Hindutva ideology in power since 2014, India is slowly moving towards kleptocracy under the control of the 1% elite. Recently election results point to a new beginning and a ray of hope that Indian voters know well what is good for the future of their country. Another important point India and its intellectual needs to minute and open mindedly look into is that by ignoring 200 Muslims in India, 240 M in Pakistan, 200 M in Bangladesh, and 2 Billion across the globe, India can never be a No. 1 or 2 global economic power in present eveloving and globalised world.

So long as China is India's enemy, India is not interested in a sea route via the Taiwan Strait. That is the reason India developed the Chabahar Port in Iran. You create an issue against the Govt without knowing the subject.

If india don't move on, she will be forever view as an opportunist without any long term strategic vision. Does India really think she can be independent when siding with US?

they are happy to work instead of running a company. Like all news, people lose the plot of bigger picture. Indian pharmaceutical routinely infringe patents to manufacture generic drugs , which drugs they created? You can go into rabbit hole arguing about their behaviour. Infringe a patent is easiest way to steal as all information is handed in platter. To steal you have do more work to get information.
Due to poor manufacturing ecosystem, they can't do much even if they steal America tech. After WW2, in operation Paperclip, USA provided war criminals who are scientists pardoned them and used their knowledge to advance their tech. Von Braun the famous rocket scientist is prime example.
EV, which tech they stole? They basically invited Elon to set up plant in Shanghai and benefited from tech and created entire EV manufacturing ecosystem. American companies are still struggling to provide decent battery pack. Tesla source their batteries from Chinese manufacturers CATL, BYD and others.

Again, he is propounding a seriously faulty assumption that, India's interest and goal align with those of China. In fact they are in conflict - China's loss is India's gain and vice versa in all areas of international relations, be it trade, commerce, industry, and security etc. Mr. Sawhney has a childishly naive and idealistic views on China.
On the other hand, it definitely makes sense for India to maintain good relation with Russia since their interest align well specially with regard to energy trade and security concerns involving Islamic radical and Chinese menace within and along their borders.
I'll like to ask Mr. Sawhney to come up with few examples where the relation with China has shown to be win-win. China has repeatedly proven itself to be an extremely aggressive mercantilist and ultra nationalist country in its dealings with everyone.
