Dr. Boz, you have already been censored for years.
I have been watching content like yours for years, yet you never came up as a suggested video.
You are right, your channel is the tip of the spear when comes to real world knowledge and experience.
You are THE ONLY Dr. testing ketones with a meter. You are using a continuous glucose monitor, you are going over your weekly fasts showing your CGM results!!! Data, data, data!!! You are fantastic!!!
    You were made for this!!!
For as long as you have done this and the amount of useful information here, you should be at least 1 million subscribers. It is all the data you provide that makes your channel the best.
    I am being completely honest!!!
I have been carnivorous, since thanksgiving day of 2021, I also was carnivorous from Christmas Day 2019 until March of 2020. The pandemic caused some chaos for my diet.
If I only eat ruminate meat with salt and water every is perfect. As soon as I deviate problems start.

My first water fast was three weeks long. I devoted the 21 days to prayer and reading the Word. I made my own electrolytes, and upped salt and magnesium. I felt amazing the whole fast! But I did lose muscle. That is the only reason I haven’t done another extended fast. My Dr. doesn’t support extended fasting without supervision for the reasons you mention here. I also cooked a ton of food for my family during the fast due to increased creativity and motivation. Now I do shorter fasts and for some reason they are harder to do. Thank you Dr Boz, for covering this important topic!

    • @davewidhalm4380
      @davewidhalm4380 Год назад +3

Agreed with some muscle loss on the long fasts, especially 10+ days. Although I noticed it is much less so with dry fasting where electrolytes aren't needed. Dry fasting has zero hunger after 24 hours, although with water fasting the hunger during meal times can be pretty intense during the first 3 days, after which it subsides tremendously or even disappears. 3 days fasts are definitely tougher than a week or longer, but I can definitely see benefit from them as there really isn't any muscle loss, and in fact they may help as HGH levels peak during the 3rd day. I think a heavy weight workout around the 65-68th hour, followed by a nice large steak around hour 70-72 is awesome for the body as it doesn't build up lactic acid that causes the pain and fatigue after a heavy workout. In fact, doing a lion diet (ruminant meat, salt, and water only) on the non-fasting days helps the body get the most out of your workouts. There is never any need for fruits and vegetables in the human diet as they can be pro-inflammatory and are loaded with oxalates. With a 3 day water fast, there really isn't any need to worry about gradual refeeding. Longer fasts....yes.

Fasted for 25 days, no food or juice, no electrolytes, no NOTHING except water, leg ulcers-gone, fasting blood sugar from 180, down to 70, blood pressure 210/125 down to 125/80, edema---gone, deep vein thrombosis ---90% gone, went from 400 lbs down to 330lbs; messed up the refeed, had to go to emergency room and stay for 24 hours--my fault, i was stupid, ate way too much, got refeeding syndrome, was in so much pain----they had to put me on potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, etc. My sodium was fine though. Had to listen to dingbat doctors tell me how dangerous fasting is, blah blah blah, but I ignored them all. I wouldn't argue with them because I was thankful for what they did for me with the replenishment of electrolytes and TRAMADOL (great drug, glad it's not legal). Did keto OMAD for a while, got down to 315, now I'm fasting again (real fasting, not "intermittent"), been a week so far, going for 40. Long term fasting is just great man. It heals you, BUT....refeed CORRECTLY, so important.

@@elizabethporter6398 No, I am not taking electrolytes. I believe in the fasting protocol by Dr. Alan Goldhamer and Loren Lockman. Even though they are vegan and I am keto, their reason for not taking electrolytes during fasting appeals to me. Having said that, I do keep Redmond real salt and electrolyte powder from Dr. Berg in case something goes really wrong. It never did on the 25 day fast. Dr. Jason Fung has a great video on refeeding, as does Dr. Berg, and Dr. Boz probably does too. When I refeed this time, I will start off with some chicken bone broth taken slowly over 2 days, maybe an avocado on the 2nd day, maybe a hard boiled egg if things are going well. RUclips "dr. fung refeeding" or "Dr. Berg refeeding." Do not take refeeding lightly if you're going to do a long term fast. When I refed last time (after 25 days), I consumed 1/2 pound of baconm 8 ounces of sausage, and 4 hard boiled eggs------disaster.
Edit: ---I also recommend watching "How to Avoid an Electrolyte Imbalance During Fasting" by Loren Lockman.

I was going for a longer extended fast but was wondering if I should break from that and do shorter fasts my NP recommend 28 dsy detox/fast well first he recommend a strict clean keto type diet with the detox supplements but since I have to stock up on clean foods I asked about an extended gast he said it was good with him so here I am now somewhere between day 12 to 14 on my detox cause missed some faus on my supplements and about day 11 or 12 on my water fast am doing pretty good so far. It can be a struggle at times but I know what the benefits are for me I have been doing a lot of reading and watching youtubers so of course some is conflicting but I try to figure it out best I can. Naysayers are abundant including in my own house. Also the struggles with symptoms I know is just junk trying to clear from our system. I am trying to watch my numbers too
But I have many reasons not just weight loss (at 249 was 270ish in 2020 just Got interested in fasting recently was 269 in July) and health I have a thermography rescan my NP doctor wants me to detox to see if any issues have cleared since my last scan in 2021. Other reasons I have added are spiritual, and emotional because when you work deep on fasting emotions are stronger and they say tramas and past stiff gets cleared out how Idk. But I have already had some emotional moments. Other reasons are well being ,etc whatever reasons there are to fast I am trying to work on all of them. I have watch many videos on refeeding and how to break fasts but many different opinions from different drs on youtube there is dr Berg of course dr. Boz can't remember if Dr Berry even has anything on fasting. But I watch different variations of keto like Paleo, Carnivore and Keto and Ketovore have yet to watch any ketotarians but I love veggies so I may lookinto that as well. I woll probably do a variation of the different ones or a mix. I do lovr Dr. Bozs suggestions of foods to eat and break gasts etc.

I ended up with four more small tumors right after the biopsy. Also I don’t know if I should just continue fasting for the month and then go keto and see if the tumors in my liver can heal on their own? Any one have any advice?

    • @davewidhalm4380
      @davewidhalm4380 Год назад +4

@LB-sw2km, yes, keep up with the water fasting! It takes glucose to feed cancer. With fasting, your glucose drops very low which starves and eventually helps kills the cancer. I think the 3 day fast every week, followed by OMAD the other 4 days using the LION diet is ideal for killing cancer. You should definitely fast at least 2 days prior to chemo plus a day or two after the treatment to maximize the chemo effects and also protect the healthy cells and your immune system....which chemo would also normally attack when you're not in ketosis. I've heard that the pre and post fasting during chemo treatments also minimizes or eliminates the sickness that goes along with it.

My ankle blew up like I jumped off a roof on my right foot... Felt like gout
But it wasn't... My last 24 day.. My toe felt like I broke it.. Turned dark brown and was inflamed...
Anyone have any idea why that would happen?

It sounds like you had some old injuries in those areas that you may not have even known about that the fasting was resolving. Often, longer fasts bring those issues to the surface and fix them. This is especially true with dry fasting 5+ days.

I went low carb and Whole Foods 6 weeks then fast 1x/ wk 36 hrs lost 40lbs in 6 months and my BP came down significantly so I cut bp med in half and I told my primary DR all this but no one advised or warned of low BP or bp meds and I got a stroke. Hospital ER Neurologist says ur doing all the right things but ur BP went too low too quickly. Says Stop ur BP meds. So much for under a doctors care. Be careful DR or no DR. my lower bp # was touching 60 or even 57 just b4 the stroke. Neurologist said as long as ur lower is under 85 stay off bp meds continue exercise and reduced carb whole food diet. Let bp come down naturally. 10 months later bp is 124/75 no bp meds. And im getting close to full recovery…I hope…still stutter a little sometimes and mental stamina still needs to improve b4 i will feel fully recovered. Research diligently whatever ur doing cuz DRs suck. They see u 10 minutes 2 x a year. Labs 2x. They have no clue what’s going on in between But sure act like they do.

There is a monitor that you breath into for ketones instead of the blood you could use once you get going but in the beginning urine strips are usually enough. DR Boz has a great little starter book that she goes through on foods to eat and stages, she goes over the entire book on her channel on a video. For your glucose, talk to your doctor, you make be able to get a continous glucose monitor but check with your doc about the safety of either. Dr boz also has tests you can order for your A1C that are cheaper than the traditional ones and will give you a more accurate overall picture of your blood glucose- the tests she has have two and she recommends testing once a month until you get your A1C in range.

72 HR FAST flips so many "switches" in our bodies for healing & autophagy! My best practices being insulin resistant has been to use all days electrolytes and Day 1 Bulletproof Brain Octane MCT oil to help my ketones beget ketones and Days 2-3, I am making my own ketones, feel GREAT and have hit gotten to 6.1 ketones on m own. I break my fast with bone broth and an avocado, wait 30 mins, if no digestive issues, I'll eat some steamed broccoli, wait other thirty mins, if still no digestive issues, then I will have a small amount of protein. Now I'm working on incorporating a 72 hr fast weekly. I'm excited to see how my journey goes! Thank you Dr. Boz - you are a lifesaver!!!

The high fiber from avocado coupled with the lighter fiber from broccoli can be troublesome for the gut after a fast and cause diarrhea. You're better off cycling to some hamburger meat after the bone broth. Much more stable and will keep you in ketosis.

What I love about Dr Boz and so many others is that they teach us to be our own advocates. I have found what works for me through safe trial & error, honestly no different than if I was visiting a doctor 1:1. I have educated myself and listen to knowledge being shared. What I have realized is that so many physicians of late have the education to write a script but unfortunately not the education to help me heal. Some times we need scripts to be a bridge to healing. I don’t need band aid applications or meds that do not promote healing. Our bodies can heal with the right “keys”, I’ve seen it with other people and I have personally experienced it. The body is a powerful machine and me knowing how chemistry works and hormones is crucial to my healing journey.

Every time you fast you will burn muscles per attempt especially if you go longer than 3 days. I might be wise to sip on flaxseed oi. fish oill , salt and get your minerals and vitamins via spriuna or chlorella so you don't suffer. I have done a 3 week fast without food but made sure i got my electrolytes and I was no longer hungry after the first week of fasting. But make sure not to break your fast with solid food as its dangerous as your digestive system is sleeping. I lost 20kg in one month(Did a one month fasting under doctor support). 1kg = 2,2lb and if your body fat is around 20 percent or less you will be hungry since you have no body fat to burn while fasting. im no doctor and not advocating that you should fast without doctor supervision as it its dangerous so please consult your doctor before going on a fast as Im just sharing my experience. I have just decided to go off Ketogenic diet. It was an interesting ride. Lost lots of weight indeed and dropped the A1C from 5.7 to 5.3.
So why I am going off of it?
At the rate my cholesterol been rising it will soon hit 1000. LDL went from 130, 6 months later to 220 and 3 months after that to 350.
Total cholesterol jumped from 200 to 350 to 500.
Yea HDL went up from 40 to 60 to 75 and triglycerides from 220 to 59 to 50.
No I won't go back to starchy crap and refined this and that or grains. I guess I will just have to cut back on meat big time to maybe once a week and simply stick with non starchy vegtables, some fruit and increase nut consumption because fruits and vegies hardly have any calories. What else can I do.
I will check my blood in 3 months and see what it would look like.

Drop in blood sugar which to my view is quite a big deal. I would have never been able to drop the level if I had to rely on the damn doctor's advice or his cronies.
No more dry nose which caused bleeding every so often. In fact, my nose is supple and soft. Not all dried out.
My morning breath is not so annoying that I can’t wait to brush the sucker.
I don’t feel bogged down.. Just a fresher energy. The air feels better and my mood is simply much lighter and better.
I used to get light headed more often than I cared and that is gone.
      HDL-C went from 40 to 75
Triglycerides went from 225 to 50
      A1C dropped from 5.7 to 5.3
So all the above and then one problem or is it? LDL-C went from 104 to 350.

I fasted numerous times for 24 and 36 and 40 hours, usually once a week or every other week. After a 48 hour fast, eating and then going to bed for the evening, I woke up and went about making some breakfast.... then I just felt like something was not right. Thought I was having a heart attack. Called 911. I did drink a lot of water and even had electrolytes during the night when I woke up. And in the morning again before eating. My BP was 65/37. Was it too much water I drank or too many electrolytes...is that possible (Dr Bergs Electrolytes)? They said my electrolytes were fine but I was dehydrated. Seems they did not know why this happened. My D-dimer was high but other tests showed nothing wrong. I am too afraid to fast even for more than 12 hours. I do not need to lose weight but I do it for autophagy. What are your thoughts? My thoughts :
why would anyone break his fast in the evening after 48hours : sleep is extra free fast.
911 = american? That is a very expensive call : I hope they gave you a good report on what was wrong with you.
Too much water ? no. one does not have enough time for water to be dangerous drinking.
Too much Electrolytes : it is very very common for people to have diarrhea from drinking electrolytes too quickly. But you would have experienced that instantly & have made the connection to your spiked-water. (btw : i don't believe in electrolytes : it scam)
If they claimed you were dehydrated. but you think you couldn't have been. then check again your amounts of caffeine & water you really drink.
I know I was surprised when I poured all my water out of a full bottle & it seemed to not even be half what I thought I was drinking. (I'm still convinced that with the fluids in vegetables I would have made it :)
