    I live in Europe and have a good source in Palermo and Catanzaro to get my olive oil. The best olive oil I ever tasted was always the fresh olive oil coming from harvest around end of September. It smells like grass and has a burn in your throat. Good oils I can recommend: Frantoio Cutrera Primo, Calvi Mosto Oro and Ravida olive oil. The best olive oil comes from monoculture olive trees that grow on high nutrient soil. The best soil is in southern Italy, because it is vulcanic soil. That’s why best Pesto di Pistachio is made from Pistachios from Bronte. This soil cannot be compared to regular soil. All these nutrients get absorbed with the water that goes straight into the tree and effectively into the olive. A good price for olive oil is about 20€/700ml Best, Allan

    • @carolamendoladanca
      @carolamendoladanca  11 месяцев назад

      Hello Alan, The best olive oil I've found is from monoculture trees (one type of olive) grown in fertile soil in southern Italy, harvested early in October and includes its tested by third party lab. The lab report is included with the olive oil. EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) with these characteristics and high nutrient value is not easy to find. Its certainly not in the grocery stores. I can provide a link to a grower in Calabria who will be offering his high quality EVOO through memberships. His olives are pressed 6 hours after picking and the EVOO will be shipped within a couple of weeks after pressing. Few people have ever tasted olive oil that fresh. Here's a link to the grower if you would like to check it out. It's the only consistently reliable EVOO I have found and the only one I've recommended. tinyurl.com/5n6curjm

      Saw your recommendation on olive oil on a you tube Channel, my question is, can we get these in the US?

  • @stevet6676
    @stevet6676 11 месяцев назад +1

    I'm glad I found your channel. I am a lover of olive oil, living in America. Even though I am educated as a chemist, I have no idea how to really evaluate an olive oil. I do not have access to the equipment needed to analyze the oil. There are many reports of "fake" olive oil, and I believe them. Currently, I buy olive oil only in amber or green glass bottles and place it in the refrigerator for a few days to see if it turns cloudy or even semi-solid. One time I bought an olive oil from a high quality supermarket and it did not form a cloudy appearance after a week! So, it was mostly, if not all, poly unsaturated oil. Hoax. And, I can tell you, a good food chemist can make a fake olive oil that will fool most people. Sadly, in the U.S., our government does NOT protect it's people as they should.

    • @carolamendoladanca
      @carolamendoladanca  11 месяцев назад

      I agree Steve that we aren't protected from the fake and altered oils on the market in the U.S. There are many things we can check when buying such as looking for the harvest date on the label, only choose dark glass bottles and check the source that olives are coming from one country. However, the best way to know is to purchase from a producer that will include the independent 3rd party chemical analysis of the EVOO. It's rare to find this in the U.S. but the grower I'm recommending is in Calabria Italy and does include the analysis. You can learn more here:

    I would love to hear a recommendation for something affordable. I watched all your EVOO videos and you only recommend one brand (which I assume you are a financial affiliate) and the lowest cost is $200.00 BEFORE shipping. Who can afford that? Seriously, who can afford $200-$500 PER bottle of EVOO?
    I am sure there has to be some other brands for those of us in a realistic tax bracket.

    • @carolamendoladanca
      @carolamendoladanca  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hello Stephie, I am sorry for any confusion. The EVOO isn't 200.00 a bottle. It's 197.00 for 6 bottles including shipping. The grower in Italy can't ship 1 bottle of EVOO at a time for economical reasons but six bottles will keep unopened for you to use as needed.
      I sincerely have been researching for years to find a an olive grower that presses olives within 6 hours of picking, handles the product with care and will even include the 3rd party lab analysis showing exactly what nutritional content is in the EVOO.
      I do get a small compensation for the educational component about the EVOO but you can trust and believe me I'm not getting rich here.
      And after researching many other productions I have never recommended anotherolive oil until now.
      I hope this answers your questions but feel free to leave another message if needed. Carol

    This video did NOT address the polyphenol content.
    Also, the polyphenol content of olive oil from Spain, Greece and Italy are average at best!
    Which olive oils are HIGHEST in polyphenols?!

    • @carolamendoladanca
      @carolamendoladanca  3 дня назад

      Hello Clint, It's frustrating isn't it? We want cut and dried specific answers but it's not simple. I'll do my best to respond.
      First, which olive oils are the highest in polyphenols? What I can tell you is small olive farms that grow, process, store and bottle correctly will have olive oil with the highest PP content. The best way to know is to ask for a third party independent lab analaysis to show the pp content. There is not an easier way to kwow which olive oils are highest in pp.
      I've had probably a thousand people ask me "what brand they should by" but most brands have a range of quality and quality can change from harvest to harvest depending on the growing conditions of that year. A chemical analysis of every harvest is necessary to keep up with quality.
      You might have heard in my videos that I've studied olive oil for over 10 years have researched it, visited farms, talked with growers and never recommended a "brand" because I was never sure it would be consistently good every year or for many other reasons such as milling, storing, bottling, etc. I have recommended Deliba becasue I know and understand it's quality and he will provide the nutritional analysis with his orders. He also ships right from the production site not allowing his product to sit on grocery shelfs.
      I could write a book about olive oil and one day I might. But for now I'm doing my best to educate on an ingredient that's used around the world but is the most mis-understood of all. Some of it is junk but most people think all olive oil is the same.
      2. I'm not sure if it's a question or a comment but I'll respond. "The polyphenol content of olive oil from Spain, Greece and Italy are average at best! Overarching statements covering whole countries and their olive oil pp content are hard to back up. I'm sure there's olive oil in each of the countries mentioned that have a very high pp content and there's also junk olive oil - sometimes even in the same brand, again why I have been reluctant to recommend any brand. I can tell you I use Deliba, it's pp content is over 600pp/million. When a brand says they have 1000pp they have most likely kept the water in the product from processing as the water will have pp. But this reduces the shelf life and can leave residue in the olive oil.
      I tried to keep this brief but it's impossible. I could add so much more but I'll stop here. Thank you for your comment.
