I have recently become a caregiver for someone in my family so I don’t have time for traditional gardening anymore. But after stumbling on tor channel I have experimented with all kinds of cheap and easy Kratky methods and have been growing a lot of hydroponic lettuce and started doing bean sprouts. Thanks for the inspiration 🤙
I love how you are always experimenting, trying new things. Not only does your garden “Keep on Growing,” but YOU Keep on Growing too, which inspires me to never give up and keep on trying. I appreciate your continual encouragement and sharing your wealth of knowledge with us. Thank you so much for all your precious, valuable videos. You’re the best!!!
Wow... This is awesome, I look forward to learning all the methods and putting my own spin on it. Thank you for your free and informative contributions to the RUclips community 👏👏👏👏👏🥰
I love the idea of growing it naturally and not expensive Reuse and not using so much plastic, i would love to grow my own vegetables on hydroponics, i hope i can do it
I loved your tower garden idea and am trying it out this year. I'm experimenting with tomatoes, peppers, pumpkin, and watermelon. Maybe a couple of other things too. Still trying to figure out how to trellis my tomatoes. They're getting rather unruly, and it's still a couple of weeks before I can put them outside!
I heard you mention that you liked the "zen" ⛩️ feeling in your new garden....have you thought of incorporating bamboo as growing containers. It spreads lots in our part of SC. It can be cut at different sizes and dried for use. Just an idea.
@@ThirtytwoJ Sorry, but you are wrong, I have more messages from around the world of people thanking me and showing me what they have grown too. Nice try though. Have an awesome day.
Hey Mike! I love your content. Been watching for over a year now, and I’m curious what you can do with water melon, but I’m more curious what secret mix I need to make watermelons work. I have a similar setup like your gutter system, but I can’t seem to get the nutrient mixture right. Can you please help!?
Hello sir. I love your channel, but I have a problem. I live in Sweden, I cannot get hold of Masterblend. What shall i choose for other nutrient that’s available in my country. I hope you can help me sir. I really want to put my heart into growing my own micro greens 🙏best regards Marilyn
Thanks for keeping everyone included. I still grow micro greens in plastic with a soil medium but I'm willing to give your other methods a try. I already have mason jars, clay pebbles and Masterblend from an attempt at Kratky method that didn't work to well (for me). Time to try again I know plastic is an environmental issue. Please keep the information coming.
Like you, I went with comfort zone, plastic. Dabbled with glass containers, good for seedlings. Disposing of plastics and by products is a major concern. I see bits of plastic throughout my tiny backyard!
I am so interested to see what you are doing with natural materials. Love your passion for growing, and for sharing with others so we all can never be hungry again. Thank you.
Great video Mike.Your garden is looking so peaceful with all those bowls. Beautiful stuff! It would be really cool to see a garden tour later in the summer.
Your channel is well worth watching and learning from. My first comment to you, you laughed at. I was a bit offended...lol.... I got over it quickly, thickened up my skin a bit and came back to learn. You do have a wonderful attitude and great ideas. Viewer for as long as you have this channel. I BIG thank you!
But some of those “biodegradable” plastics still contain forever chemicals and leave microplastic in the soil. Could you please help us figure out which are which? Thank you.
No they do not. Compostable ones might. If labeled biodegradable it has to break down into sugars, carbon, etc, that microbes eat and within a specific time. They do not have "forever" chemicals. It just means it needs to be done in a special facility. Look for a label that says "home compostable" and biodegradable.
Chard grows like everything else I do but it lasts a long time, constant harvest. I have a tough time with spinach though, Florida heat. Also, my wife can not eat it.
Hi Mike, man you my anxiety level ramped up with excitement to get started. Question; do you use those little clay pellets with all your micro green starters. If so, where do you buy them and is there a special kind you prefer. Question #2 sry :) what nutrients or fertilizer do you put in the water is it organic, this is what I’m really nervous about. Thank you for educating so many people , especially the way the world is going we really need your expertise 😊

Isn't Mike great! The heat last year turned me on to hydroponics and MasterBlend formula. Get 40-50% increase over soil grown.
Love your out of the box thinking❤❤❤❤

Mike you are awesome. Love your channel. I was wondering what happened to you. Glad to see you again.
Your just great and remember, all the plastic all of us are using IS recycling, otherwise it would be in the landfill. So that's great.
Yes, but how long. We just delay the inevitable.
Thank you sir.
Had an idea to replace the plastic pool noodle: loofa slices. We are growing loofa this year just to try this out. Best-
Nice!!

Thanks. Yes but it is very expensive for the size I need
Need to tape over the glass to keep light off the roots, will stunt growth same as if potbound.
Thank you but I do not.

Yay micro greens here i come 🥳
You were up cycling when you used the plastic. Not necessarily a bad thing.
But for how long? Do you keep it forever and pass it on to your kids. We just delay the inevitable.

Do you have any suggestions for protection from critters? Our two biggerst problems are wood rats and chipmunks.

Hi Mike. Thanks for the great content always! I need help. How do you successfully grow spinach/chard in the Kratky method?
Chard grows like everything else I do but it lasts a long time, constant harvest. I have a tough time with spinach though, Florida heat. Also, my wife can not eat it.

I am using clay pebbles in most right now. The nutrients are not organic, I am testing more out now.
