Message from the Director: So...this got infinitely more attention than I thought it would. We were just having fun and I thought a person or two might get a chuckle out of it. When my brother and I go to the Disney parks (which we love), one of our goals every time we enter is to make someone's day, even if it's just one person. Hopefully we've been able to do that on a little larger scale; and, hopefully again, in a way of which Walt would be proud.

You'll notice that Gaston also separated his legs, making the pushups much easier. The challenger might have thought he was the first one to challenge Gaston to a push-up competition. This man knows how to win.

Gaston has good form. Extending all the way just lets you rest on your elbow. Try it. Do a push up fully extended and then do it the way Gaston did.
Your bicep is still flexed when doing it like Gaston, but when you do it fully extended, your bicep rests, which is inefficient if your looking to gain muscles.

The guy's job is to stay in character and be entertaining, which he nailed on both counts. Why does anyone really care if his form was off?
These amazing cast members truly bring the magic.
The technicalities of the challenge doesn't matter, everyone had fun -even the guest/challenger. Gaston "cheating" means that regardless of the outcome, the guest's dignity is protected, he loses by count, but wins by principle. There is no shame to be had, only laughter. "Remember that time when Gaston beat you at push ups?" "Yeah, but only cause he cheated!" - and both of you would be right and it would be a funny thing to remember.
Gaston's jokes are cleverly crafted, made to light a fire, but still too blunt and jovial to be insulting. He's entertaining instead of demeaning. And at no moment does he ever break character.
We can't even glamorize or place these talented actors in the spotlight, as being a successful cast member means that audiences only remember the character, and at no moment are we supposed to think there's an actor behind it.

An evil noble who turned into a monster kidnaps a innocent girl who then develops Stockholm syndrome from the traumatic event. Gaston hears of the poor girl being kidnapped and selflessly organizes a rescue party to save her for no monetary reward. Gaston the good guy.

@@andrewyoung8550 Nice try, but you are forgetting that at that point Belle was no longer kidnapped, because she already had had free roam of the castle, and, in fact, she had just been set free by the Beast. It was when she showed Gaston the magic mirror that Beast gave her and Gaston saw her deep love for the Beast that Gaston became madly jealous allowing his infatuation for Belle to transform into pure evil. Gaston then used that moment to plot the murder of the beast under the ruse of protecting the townsfolk from a menace or a threat when he was really wanting to guarantee his marriage to Belle. After making a ruckus and getting the whole town on his side, he sent off his band of armed vigilantes to murder the beast to secure Belle’s hand-but thankfully the story turned out quite different than what Gaston intended.
He forgot that Gaston is your typical Tank build character... Low in INT but high in STR

(And this one is less fun) I’ve known people who have been workhorse entertainers in that theme park, they are 100% responsible for anything that happens to their costumes, usually out of their own pocket. If he went full range of motion, Mickey would be out for blood if he spent the rest of his shift with his beautiful gaston costume with scuffs and grime from the ground on the front because some “do you even lift bro?” chad wanted to flex for his friends.

Not only that but theres a *lot* of contractual stuff going on in the background too. Like they absolutely must stay in character, and in some cases that means working your ass off to get a good bod. The actors and actresses that play their parts are under extreme pressure for a whole lot of things, including when theyre not in the costume, its crazy!
