Been towing one of these with a Durango RT AWD (5.7L V8, towing package, 1200# payload, 7200# towing) for a year with no problems. Using an Equalizer E2 hitch and changed out to Goodyear Endurance tires, which keeps everything well behaved. We pack pretty light compared to others we see at RV parks since it's just the two of us, and keep the tanks empty except for a few gallons to flush the commode on travel days.
Durango sticker is a joke. It's always 1200 lb. To know you real payload you need to deduct unloaded weight from the manual from GVWR, I assume yours is 7100 lb. It's really between 1600-1700 lb. I pull regular Imagine 2800bh with 21 Durango with Tow N Go (8700 lb towing). I stopped traveling with almost empty fresh water tanks many years ago because this can compromise your tongue weight and decrease stability. I usually carry 2/3 to full. We really enjoy our 2021 22MLE. I was pulling it with a 2020 Toyota Tundra Crewmax. It pushed us around a little. With the payload at 1,188 pounds on the Tundra, I decided to trade it in on a 2020 Ford F-250 Lariat Super Crew 4WD with the 7.3 liter gas engine. Much better towing experience! I really appreciate your advice on safer towing. Some people believe because their tow rating is a certain amount, their truck can handle up to the max load. Most of the time they disregard the payload. The payload on our F-250 is 2,970 pounds, and it handles the load much better. The only complaint I have about the 22MLE is the front nose of the trailer is very thin and dents easy compared to a fiberglass nose.
JD, been watching your videos in preparation for buying our first travel trailer. This is the exact model we bought. Plan to tow it with my 2018 Silverado. Added the road master active suspension and a blue ox sway pro. Picking it up in a couple weeks. Hoping the set up works well.

Interesting floor plan. That would be the first mod I’d make. It’s is a spacious floor plan.
I think the profile of a TT would be a better guage of whether something is half ton towable or not. Since this unit isn't that long overall even fully loaded a half ton truck would have no issues. Lets say the unit was 30+ ft long even at 6000lbs i wouldn't tow it with a half ton. When I had my half ton towing a 35' long camper I found myself fighting the wind constantly now with my 3/4 ton its not an issue unless the winds get over 30mph. I have seen three campers crashed out on the highways in northern Michigan where its always windy and all were towed with a half ton
I have reservations on the "wet bay" section of the "pass thru storage." That means you absolutely can not have any (zero) amount of spray at the city water connector. Now in the real world when does that happen.
That's a valid concern. We woke up one morning to water on the floor next to the bed. Turned out that the washer in the water connector was bad, and the trailer wasn't perfectly level side to side or front to back so the water ran down the lip of the little black pan and into the camper.
A lot of trailers in that size range. Are about 7 thousand dollars cheaper. Looking at several things. Such as a tiny microwave, and the cheapest available slide system. Not worth anything extra.
Look at the payload capacity. If it is a 7k lb trailer, there is most likely about 800 lbs of tongue weight. A F150 at most will have 1650 lbs of payload. That means you have about 850 lbs of cargo until you start overloading the truck. So if you tow this trailer, three normal sized humans inside the truck and a generator in the bed, you are exactly at the payload capacity of your truck. He reccomends 3/4 tons a lot because they usually have about 3k lbs of payload capacity.
@@anthonyrossi6227 This trailer won't fit 4 grown humans of 850lbs, It basically sleeps 3 at most unless they are sleeping on the floor. Not really arguing at all, just seems to be a perfect trailer for a half ton truck and a family of maybe 3. Its a perfect couples trailer IMO.

That's not a lot of tow rating for a class 2 truck and I'm sure JD would recommend staying below 6k lbs trailer weight unless it's something low profile like a low-boy or utility trailer.

Cool
Definitely a unit we are currently looking at. But as you said. I am towing with a 19 tundra. Been trying to look at units in the 5000-5500lb dry weight rating. Definitely pushing our limits. I am with you. You start getting over 6k dry. Should ideally be towing with a 3/4 ton. But it's just me and my wife. So will we really be loading this up with 1000lbs + of stuff. Probably not.
Theater seating but no TV?
TV is above dinette.
Bathroom probably not assessable with slide in.
everything is still accessible with the slide in
@@billm6852 would be great if every video mentioned access to bathroom when slides in.
1:17 900lbs for people in a couples camper? I'm 200lbs. What are you saying about my wife?
I think he carries more cargo than most people do.
Was that a wasp nest under it?
That's the foam they use to seal up holes.
@@richmanwisco right on.. Glad it wasn't bees
Switch the bed and kitchen and it would be perfect!
That would move the passthru (& under-bed) storage back behind the axles. 'Sway too much.
This would be perfect if it had a traditional Table & 4 Chairs. The Wife & I looked at this very model
and she loves the layout except the Booth Table. The Sales Rep. said they could not get one without
the Booth Table. They have to sell their existing inventory first & they wouldn't budge on the price as
well. The search continues...
"relative light unit".... but need a 3/4 ton.... Completely ridiculous, clueless dude.
My 4 banger ranger would pull this like a bat out of hell.
After owning this camper for 2 years, It certainly does not need a 3/4 ton truck to pull it. This guy is way off.
These axels looks so fragile
Looks like a hamper next to the toilet.
