Thrilling performance. Your interpretation of the 8th etude made me tear up a little, particularly starting from the arpeggiated dominant sonority initiating the modulation to E major. Congrats on your successful performance; I could learn a thing or two from your composure on stage, considering the fact that I have my first solo recital coming up in three months.
Also, I might just have to learn these etudes next for a future recital.

Those etudes are very underrated - total masterpieces. In my opinion way more interesting to practice than chopin etudes
More elaborate, of course. But maybe they are not underrated but rather underplayed, precisely because people realise their intricacy. 😄
@@sergeypiano also underrated quite often after comments I've heard... or just not understood. It takes time to understand them and can be a lifetime or working on them. are you teaching somewhere?
Yes, at Moscow conservatory.
But you are right actually. Little-understood works which is not a big wonder as these late works by Debussy don't lie on a straight line between his early music and later 20th-century piano literature. The etudes are somewhere off the way hence they present a problem akin to learning a foreign language if one wants to play them.

Why is there, what appears to be, a napkin on the upper register? I feel like there's a very interesting story (or song) behind it.
Yumi Kurama :-))) This is indeed a napkin. I am afraid though that there is no story behing it that would be connected with the music here. The simple story is that it was rather hot on that day and I needed a way to wipe away sweat without spending too much time on it.

Why should he live under the shadow of someone else?
Well if he's a Richter then he's got to know his scales, as in the Richter scale. Which is the scale pianists use when the dynamic marking "Quakingly" is indicated.

Вы очень хороший пианист, но есть какая-то суетливость в вашей манере (что музыкально то и на вид) которая не то что претит но делает конечный результат менее интересным чем он бы мог иначе получится. По-моему надо строже, проще... У вас иногда бывает что не то что замедляете а погружайтесь в какое-то вне-времянье, разглядывайте музыку как из далека - лучше без этого, по моему.
Я сужу предвзято, мое любимое исполнение этого цикла это Ведерников, быть может из всех пианистов наимение склоненый к аффектации. Извиняюсь если задел, желаю всяческих успехов.

Должен сказать, что по-моему Ваши слова о суетливости и одновременно о погружении во вневремение с рассматриванием музыки со стороны изрядно противоречат друг другу. :-)
Не исключаю, что тут играют роль личные пристрастия (мне в этих этюдах больше всех нравится Мицуко Утида, противоположность Ведерникова), но в любом случае спасибо, мне полезно ваше мнение.

but you're extremely virtuoso salute. but you're playing too fast and seem to little bit indulge in your skills. sometimes you ran over the tastiest chords so fast I couldn't even savor them. they're there to be heard. give the music some time sometimes (lol shit sentence) but then again you're really great and a lot better than those amateurs who sit on the sustain pedal and play everything slow and cash in on it while not even being able to learn the piece properly. cheers.
