In Australia we use a 14speed manual change Rohloff hub on levo's. Gives two gears lower and one gear higher. It's goodbye derailleur for me. Seat set hard forward on the dropper. 170mm fox 38's,150mm cranks 29x 3.0 front tyre and 27.5 x 3.25 rear really lifts the bike and soaks up the big hits on long 20min rock garden decents. Smooth power and the silence is golden. E=mtb²..
Short cranks to spin higher rpm and a small chainring makes a lot of sense. Your motor is under less strain, your battery lasts longer AND you climb virtually anything!
This tip also applies to analogue bikes. Switching from a 32 tooth to a 30 tooth chainring has been one of the best changes I've made this past year. My local rides start with a really steep climb every time and I just got sick and tired of red-lining every time. I'm convinced that 98% of consumers would be better off with a smaller chainring. I rarely use my smallest cog --if ever--whether I'm running 32T or 30T even during enduro races.

Got to be worth a try!
Rethreaded 175mm shimano cranks so are now 148mm cranks

Danny’s tip is great! The key point I recon is being able to run the seat post lower for any given max effort = improved balance for tech up hill 🎉
100% it’s a great tip
I went up 2 on the front and unlocked the speed. We have faster trails. You can still get up anything with a 34/50 on an Ebike.
You can run 30 tooth on shimano you have reverse ⛓️ ring it so 🔩 go in at back off spider
I run a 30t - 46t cassette (older 11 speed 11-46), which is great even on a meat-powered bike.
