DO NOT BUY HP Laserjet MFP 4301 FDW laser printer!

- I'm returning my brand new HP Laserjet MFP 4301 FDW laser printer purchased from HP.com only two weeks ago due to it being broken for more days than it worked and losing five full days of productivity on time spent searching for online solutions, troubleshooting with HP tech support, hosting a local repairman for 4-1/2 hours who could not fix it, and having to go to an office supplies center for my print needs. To be clear, the five days of lost productivity means I actually spent 40-hours of my time trying to get the printer to work, it was unusable much longer than that. The final straw being an error message that will not go away because of a single paper jam incident (it's first and only). For all that work I only ever got it to print six single sided pages. So it's not as though I was testing it's limits. Or perhaps that was it's limits, sadly.
Brother is the king when dealing with Laser Printers, Epson for Ink Jet
Helpful for my decision, thank you! 👍
Thanks for posting this! We'll heed the warning. I was considering buying 7 of these units for the home offices of my sales people. We've been researching printers for over a week and from everything we've been finding with HP's latest products, their reliability and customer support has serously declined. Also, we discovered that most of their products are made in China. I'm not surprised that their quality has declined. HP sold-out Americans and moved they're manufacturing to China years ago. I think we'll be going with Brother printers. Brother printers have a good reputation, are made right here in the USA, and they're employing Americans. They'll be getting our business! HP can wallow in their disloyalty to America and in their China junk.
I bought one about 6 months ago and now I am battling Light printing with the black ink toner!
Thank you for the detailed warning. I was considering purchasing the same unit on or near the upcoming Christmas holiday. I'll heed your warning and stay away. Epson printers are now looking much better than before. Again, thanks.
First of all, thank you for your warning. However, so far, I have been lucky to have received a printer that apparently was subject to rigorous quality assurance procedures and is functioning correctly. More updates later when I continue to test this machine.
Thanks for the review! Just saved me from buying
I was very sad to post this review. I previously worked in an office for several years that had an enterprise/business grade HP color printer (like this one is supposed to be) but it was a reliable workhorse. Which is why I was was willing to spend the money....For what it's worth, out of expediency, I picked up a Brother black and white MFC-L2717DW off the shelf at Costco and it's been performing like a little champ at 25% the cost which includes a genuine Brother 9,000 page extra capacity replacement toner cartridge bought on Amazon.
@@Tipjar333 thx! I had a brother years ago and I agree, great machine and never gave me any issues. I had a business HP MFP that I had for years and worked perfect, but I retired and no need for the big machine. I still do some stuff that needs a MFP, and I was using a small HP MFP that really sucks. I was looking to upgrade and was looking at this one you reviewed. I think the high end HP are great but the consumer grade stuff is junk from my experience. Brother it will be. I’ll come full circle
Sadly, this is the 21st Century - no customer service and making your life as hellish as possible just to have the things you need (or want).
It's not all the printers it's a few you were given a defective unit
almost fell into this trap! HP is junk!
