I always had problems with HP printers dying early on. My current brother laser printer has been going strong for 10 years and I use third party toner cartridges as well.

That after seeing your video I also impulse bought an HP 4301fdw as well. But just for the heck of it, I also bought a remanufactured printhead off ebay for my old inkjet (an HP Officejet 8600) before tossing it out. And while it works again, I still have no desire to ever return to dealing with ink anymore....
I have an HP 2015 duplex black laser printer. Run it on cheap 3rd party cartridges. The 6-7 thousand version cartridges. I bought a heavily discounted one in 2008. So, it's been going well for 16 years. I remember once having to clean the rubber rollers. I reckon I have had two paper jams in those 16 years. One of them I had to contact HP support, who were very helpful. Unfortunately I lost the WiFi option I bought for it off eBay. And now Windows printers see it on our WiFi setup via an Apple WiFi via USB printing server, but the Windows computers refuse to print to it. Our Brother inkjet failed printing from Windows computers too despite WiFi. Seems to me that Windows has an agreement with the devil to stop printers when they're a few years old, such as the brother inkjet multi-function printer. I am unsure about belts etc with colour lasers - they used to be a huge cost and they had a limited life. But that was many years ago ... things may have changed.
One thing that almost caught me is that there's 2 machines similarly named. MFP 4301DW and one with the "F" MFP4301FDW. The biggest difference is that the "F" version does duplex scanning (on top of fax services). That's what I needed.
I'm sorry. Printers suck, and I'm no expert. Google is your friend (tip: always put the model number in your search). I did a lot of searches while setting up this one.

At least from the mobile app when on the home network. However, off the home network is a different story, as I can't get the "Print Everywhere" feature to work yet for some reason.
If you have HP Smart installed...you can scroll to your printer and under the status of the printer you will see "Printer Settings". Click on that and you will be taken to a screen that has "See What's Printing" on it....click that and you can see all the documents in the queue and cancel or restart them.
Just tested it, and yes, it duplex scans. I print and scan so little, I don’t really have enough experience to offer additional advice. Still working fine (after painful setup process in the video).
Will the 4301 use aftermarket toner or are you stuck using HP toner? Also, I have an old HP 4700 Color LaserJet Printer that does everything I need. It prints letter and legal size paper from 20# to heavy card stock. It prints double sided and I use it for printing books with color photos. I am now having problems with it, as it has around 500k copies on it and I need to get another printer. Will the 4301 give me the same results? I don't need all the fancies, just a good quality color laser printer. Tried to contact HP for some information and their sales team is useless. Your help is appreciated.
Old HP models are good but new ones, especially for the last couple of years, are pain in the a**. I have two Brothers one is mono the other one is color. Never had an issue. Also very cheap running cost.
That is why I am using Linux instead. It just works. For Windows users that wanne try out Linux that WORKS right out of the work, try Linux Mint. I have gone further and are using CachyOS, Arch Based, and OMG I LOVE IT! Installing a printer on Linux are just so EASY and then, just hit print and yes,. its just print.
I wouldn't used this trash printer. Had so much problem with it. If your home user it's okay but as a business standards thenno I wouldn't. Especially recent firmware just mess up printer even more.
I’ve had the HP laser jet M277dw for 9 years and still works perfect. Replaced cartridges once.

Yes, but every once in a while it still prints in B&W instead of color for no discernible reason. Happened today, in fact.

I did not know that! The duplex scanning is indeed awesome.

Maximum size is 8.5” X 14” so no.

Yes, but on plain paper. No glossies like an inkjet photo printer.

Yes, it’s copy protected. I print so little that it’s not a big disadvantage for me, but for high volume printing, it’s way more expensive.

Agreed. HP has definitely gone downhill. If I ever need another printer (unlikely) I’ll check out Brother.

Sorry about that. Not a lot to review. Once the terrible setup is done it prints fine (although sometimes in B&W for no discernible reason).
