Awesome guide! I had to replace each of the external slinding door handles... yes, both broke within two weeks of each other. This helped get the side off which was the part I had no idea about. Getting to the external door handle seemed daunting but you only have to remove four further bolts and all the mechanisms for the door etc. can be moved aside. Then you can easily see where the two handle bolts go and it isn't hard to figure out how to replace them. All in all, two doors done in an hour and a half. 2014 Honda Odyssey.
this is my exact scenario... thanks for instilling some confidence in the job.... the mechanic told me it was a lot of work to do and pricey, im so glad I found this!
My man - can’t thank you enough for this video. We needed to replace our sunshade and our mechanic wanted $200 for the job. Took me less than 45min and my wife is googly eyes 🤙🏽
I cannot thank you enough for this clear and concise guide. I was able to complete this is in about the same time as your tutorial. I had to replace the window screen and this saved me a ton of money being able to do it at home. Thanks!
Had to replace the sun shade cuz my lovely son decided it would look better after being all jammed up in the auto opening door. Great help. Thank you!!!
Man I apreciat your vedio so much i had a honda stepwgn its rear door glass got broken. For the life of me i just couldnt see how to remove the inner door handle. Great Job!!
Thank you for the video I had to replace the integrated sunshade and had no idea how to get the door panel off. After watching the video everything went great and I now have a new sunshade. Jim
Thanks. I am in the middle of doing this on my Van and realized that the video I had watched left out the top trim piece. I notices your video and checked it out. It answered my other questions so thanks again for taking time to make this video. Seeing how something comes apart makes it a lot easier.
Just bought one used today with 50k miles. Pretty pumped, but the driver's side sunshade mesh is broken off the pull bar thing, so this video will be helpful when I replace that. Thanks a lot!
Great video. I tried next to find one on how to replace door handle /mechanism broken on our 2013 (manual sliding door passenger side), but could not. Do you have a video on that?
Thanks so much. I had had a problem where the door would not lock or unlock it was stuck. The problem was that a sensor had blocked the lock mechanism. I simply had to wiggle it around to get it to get loose. Works like a charm now!
Please do a video on replacing the sliding door handle. Your video was so good. I took off the panel in 10 minutes, but now I've opened a can of worms! LOL. I have a replacement handle from Amazon.
Question, did you not pop the clips on the front edge of the door before you popped them on the back? I did not see that in the video and thought I have already popped them from the front, I was wondering if you did it that way or not.
So I'm looking at replacing the sun shade assembly that, it seems, is inside the door panel. Would I need to remove the whole door panel or can I just remove the top portion of it? Did you notice or see that while you were in there?
The door handle snap ring looks identical to the type used for door window cranks (Manual windows). I suspect we can use a door window crank clip remover tool for this step, which will prevent the snap ring from flying when it’s removed.
Yep same. Broken sunshade that needs to be replaced. Honda wants $360 to do the work. a new shade can be had for $98. would definitely pay to do it myself. i suppose once its off, it can be figured out. helpful video on removing the panel though, thank you.
Hey great video. Anyone know if the procedure is the same for the 2010 odyssey? Mine has manual sliding doors but the inter handle no longer works so I'm going to try fixing it myself
would this be similar on the 2018 odyssey? I can't find any videos on the 2018 and need to replace the sun shade my kid broke. Thanks for the awesome video!
@@BryceJohnson88 I have not. Only one of the brackets broke on mine so I’m living with it for now. Dealer wanted $200 to replace $100 for part and $100 for labor
Can this be done while the door is locked shut? My toddler threw his shoe just as the door was locking and the shoe got stuck in the door well because the door sensor didn’t recognize it was there and ran over it and now it’s jammed shut. I’m trying to figure out how to wedge the shoe out to free the door. Thank you in advance
Can you do this with the door locked shut? I can't get it to unlock. So I'm thinking it's the actuator but I can't get the door to open obviously because it's locked
It's likely a power release actuator. There are many videos on this for the 3rd gen (05-10) Ody, but I don't think there's one for the 4th gen. The good thing is in most cases you can open up the actuator (one screw), spray some lubricant on the gears in there, put it back together and reinstall it into the door, and usually that fixes it. The only time you'd have to buy a new one is if the gears inside are broken or lubricating it doesn't work.

Were you successful replacing exterior door handle?
I’m about to try on my 14

Good to know this worked for you, I have to do the same thing soon.

What does the sensor look like? I'm struggling with getting mine to completely latch closed and I'm guessing it's the same thing

Thank you for excellent instruction how to Diy.
Thank you very much, make the job so easy
Thanks for the video it was on point. I ended up ripping a pendaflex folder (hanging file folder) and using the metal top and it worked perfectly.
how did you do this? I'm looking to jimmy rig my torn sunshade so i dont have to remove the panels etc... thanks!
Hey thank you for showing how to remove the panel, can you provide instruction on how to replace the Sun Shade on the the same door.. Thank you
Ill work on getting a video made for that.
This is also what I'm trying to do. Would the first step be to remove the door panel to access the shade area?

Did you find out if it was the same? I'm doing this on my 2018 soon

What size is the speaker on that door?
