Some people may like thr slanted walls but I feel that in a small apartment, it makes it even smaller. Confused why there was an extra sink. Makes no sense. Otherwise, it's an okay apartment. I wouldn't chose it but if you live alone, it could work depending on the price and location. A no due to no elevator.

It's not expensive for being a 10 min walk from Shinjuku Station.
But do you need that? Probably not.
I would rather get an apartment twice the size at half the price 1 hour by train from central Tokyo.
Somewhere like 30 min walk from Oomiya Station would be perfect, then you get big city access but also somewhat low prices.
As for refrigerator, definitely would need to buy one.
I used to pay 45,300 JPY living in a 20m2 apartment a 5 min walk from Koshigaya station (35 min by train to Ueno).

The reaction to finding the bathroom wall shelf was funny. The five flights of stairs to climb because there's no elevator is not a good selling point. The ugly, scary utility pole is not a good view at all. (Loved the Thor reference.. 😅) The slanted ceiling in the bathroom and loft really make this apartment feel cramped. I agree the loft would be too hot to sleep in during the summer. The place doesn't have much storage either. The rent is a bit high for the lack of necessities and comfort. Hmm... this is a hard no for me. I just found out that in France, the ceiling has to be full height for the area under it to count as living space. Based on this, the loft would be for storage and not living, just like a quarter of the living room and the toilet. The extra sink looks like an after thought, as it doesn't match the rest of the kitchen, and they used the space for a refrigerator. Also, whoever cleaned that apartment needs to go back and clean the dust out of the bathroom drier vent and do a better job of dusting and wiping surfaces. The last straw is the five floor climb to get there and the terrifying thought of dodging giant electricity cables if you to needed escape through the window. Spidey is the only one who would survive a situation like that! Thanks for sharing, Usui-san.

An interesting apartment, more shoe room than the last one. The shelf in the bathroom can be used for toilet paper/laundry supplies. Too bad there’s no tub in the bathroom. I find the second basin in the kitchen strange, but you could fit a shelf over it for extra countertop space. The loft is very small, I’d use it for storage and have a bed downstairs. Unfortunately, no fridge in this one and rather high rent. I think I’d pass on this one, but I thank you for sharing this apartment.

Needs to put a much smaller shoe place in the entry, a closet where the shoe storage is, a small fridge where the second sink is with a counter on top, an airconditioner that works for the loft space, and the window needs to open to the opposite side away from the power lines.

Good morning, dear Usui-san, and thank you for this very interesting video. The apartment is very special. The beautiful wall in the toilet alone is positive. The sink next to the kitchen unit takes up the space of the refrigerator. The loft space is only suitable for plastic boxes with clothing and work materials. The water heater in the loft space is completely out of place and the sloping ceilings further limit the space. The most curious thing is the lifeline, which you can use to practice mountain climbing, but is not really suitable for a fire rescue, and the electricity pylon in front of the window makes the apartment's rating completely negative. The rent is also much too high. In short, this apartment is not recommended at all. 😢

  • @alexb.1320
    @alexb.1320 Месяц назад +4

It seemed promising at first, but then it went downhill. A little expensive for what you get. I didn't see where the rope gets attached, but the fact that new utility pole is so close to the building pretty much blocking the area where you would have to get out of the window in a fire and hang that rope contraption, that could be a deadly situation if and when the insulation breaks down on those feeders.
Whats all the black specs laying on the horizontal surfaces in the toilet? Mold growth?
On the plus side, the shape of the apartment is comfortable, just not quite big enough to physically usable for more than just a place to sleep at night. And of course, also a plus, the toilet isn't right there when you walk in the door. =-)

Usui, this apartment is odd. The slanted wall was the least concern after noticing the lack of space for a refrigerator and no closet. The extra wash basin next to the sink (?) and a somewhat closed in loft space that does not have a window and like you said would become quite warm in the summer. And, last of all the only escape is out a window next to power lines and on a hoist rope. Uhhhh! For the price, I am not sure it's worth it. To say something positive, the neighborhood looks nice and its close to shopping stores.

Decent shoe storage. I'd put a tiny set of shelves next to it for keys, umbrellas, e.t.c. Love the shower/ toilet room. Yay dryer panel! That extra wash basin is a great place for a fridge. Maybe they reconfigured this unit? It's definitely odd. You could get a fridge with an ice maker, since it would have a water source. Couch, projection screen that drops down in front of kitchen, and convertible coffee/dining table. I kinda love the micro loft: cozy sleeping alcove. Box fan to move the air. It's doable if it's not summer.

I was hoping to see a much lower rent compared to other micros we’ve seen since this apartment has so many negatives. Really with these very tiny apartments it’s all about how well they are thought out; how well they use the space. I’m struggling to find something good about this one. Maybe it’s the location which I cannot judge. I think the owner must have bought a bunch of these bathroom sink/cabinet/medicine cabinet combos but then couldn’t make a bathroom or toilet room to fit it in this unit. So they just put it next to the kitchenette where the refrigerator should be! (I bet they have other bigger apartments either in this building or some others they own where it is in the bathroom or toilet room.) It’s a nice deep basin with storage which would be great if there was actually room for it; but taking up refrigerator space makes this apartment a huge negative. Add to high floor/no elevator, utility pole view, hot sleeping space, having to go up to the loft to turn on/off water heater, gas burner/no prep space … too many negatives!

The things I find weird about this micro loft:
    1) No elevator for the apartment complex? Isn't there a law that mandates that buildings with 5 floors or higher need to have an elevator?
    2) A circuit breaker in the bathroom area (where moisture will collect)? Isn't that bad for the electronics?
    3) The wash basin near the kitchen sink; I think the wash basin should be in the bathroom not beside the kitchen. I think it should be a refrigerator near the sink for meals preparation and storage. There's even an electric outlet on the wall for a possible refrigerator

  • @PixelShade
    @PixelShade Месяц назад +1

The loft most definitely can't be used as a bedroom (way too hot in summer). So I guess you have a lot of storage space and don't need a closet downstairs... However, I would like to have a small fridge instead of the "dual sink" setup xD Heck it would honestly make a lot of sense to skip having a typical kitchen and just have a large countertop with overhead storage and a small sink. Then you can use it as a desk, as well as a kitchen. You bring what you need yourself. Some might be okay with just a kettle or rice cooker, others a portable induction cooktop or an airfryer. Ultimately It makes more sense to make things multi-purpose in such small spaces.

I do see a lot of wasted space: I’d like to know the rough measurements of the shoebox corner, because if it’s decently-sized they could have put the thermostat where the intercom and AC remote are, moved the shoebox in that little nook in the genkan and set up that space for a small fridge.
That basin makes no sense, that could have been a nice spot for a washing machine-dryer tower so that you have a sink in the bathroom. Or idk, another counter which is always nice.
The steep incline of the ceiling just for aesthetics is driving me insane, a more gentle slant with a small extra window (even one of those you open with a crank) would make that space much more livable.
Not worth the price in my opinion.

I feel like the extra sink is because of the lack of sink in the bathroom. I mean it’s a little excessive but that’s what I think about it. I would honestly use that sink instead of the one above the toilet. And there’s a mirror so that’s a plus. I’m already sold on it because of the loft nook :) looks very cozy.

👋 Usui, this micro is small without good distribution of space. A breaker box inside the bathroom is a no no for me because safety issues. The location is nice but noisy . The monthly rent is high for the space.

    This is a nice apartment.
The loft space is a bit small, but the floor plan of the rest of the apatment looks convenient.
The second sink seems a little bit missplaced, but it would not bother me.

I could make it work if the price was cheaper. I would have everything where you had it except would put large thick cutting board over basin ( totally odd and unnecessary) and put my tv on top of cutting board like cabinet top ( ideal if faucet could turn to side out of way. Then put small tiny dorm fridge under sink or in front of window or next to bed if able ( might be able to put skinny table at end of bed and put fridge on top. Loft only good for extra clothes and storage. Cabinet under basic for bins to store clothes used often. Price is way too much for what you get. Your apartment is much better for price.I would not live here for this price unless nothing else.

It doesn't seem the design layout was well thought out. They realized they ran out of space in the bathroom. Let's put the bathroom sink next to the kitchen. I guess you would have to get a mini fridge. The utility pole is a little too close for comfort for me. It's a pass for me.

  • @Gazmeizster_Wongatron

Why oh why didn't they think to swap the placements of the washbasin in the kitchen with the space for the washing machine in the bathroom? 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • @aricbuckholt293
    @aricbuckholt293 Месяц назад +1

The washbasin is a waste of space, could be used for a fridge. I have safety concerns with that utility pole there. Water heater in the loft? No AC in the loft? Maybe one outlet for a fan up there? Seems like storage only at that point. It is laid out poorly, and the rent for that? Definite no on that place for me.

No. This is not a good one. There are too many stairs to get to the apartment, the weird extra sink takes up the refrigerator area, the ladder takes up too much space, the loft is good for nothing except storage because of the heat, and that big transformer thing outside the window is scary. The cost is very high for a place with so many negatives.

No no no no nooooo. No room for a fridge. Two sinks in the kitchen is stupid. No mail slot ( is the mailbox downstairs?). Loft is pretty much useless. The rent is way too high. The slanted ceiling wouldn't even allow for my loft bed lol. They should pay someone to live here.....not someone paying them. It would be interesting to see how the previous renter arranged things.
As always THANKS FOR SHARING! 💙☺️

Two washbasin but no fridge what the heck. 😂
It is okay but the utility pole at the window is a no-go and the extra washbasin is absolute nonsense. I really want to know what some architects think. There would be space for a small washbasin on the toilet or at the wall in the toilet room.
Fifth floor without lift is something I could not do and the same with the loft space so I am out for this apartment. 😅
I would use the loft space for things I do not need everytime because it is too small to sleep there. The ladder I would place beside the door if you can move it. The shoe rack I would use as normal shelf for clothes and books. The bed I would place with the feet to the second washbasin because I would not use it often.
For a person who can climb up stairs and ladders it would be okay if the price would be a bit more moderate. For all the minus points it is too expensive. Really not the best but also not the worst.

Hi Usui, thank you for sharing this micro apartment video. I wish the owner could have considered using the wash basin space for a fridge and move the wash basin in the toilet in place of the washing machine, as you don't wash your clothes every day. I wish the ladder is retractable and maybe the loft can be used for storage. this is a bit problematic for me, and the rent is too high. It is a NO for me.

I think this space is ok for stable people. Again you can use a college fridge and put it under the sink, store your clothes in them light hanging clothes things. All college materials.
You know them foldable hanging things.
But for the disable and handicap people .
Naw can't first seniors can't climb and disable people can't. And if you real big you can't fit in the shower room unless you loose weight.
Again the prize is under 600.00 dollars.
    Nice small place ..

    Hi,
    🫤🙁
It is expensive compared to the last apartments, and not very functional : a sink near the sink and a ladder that cuts the floor surface makes it. The space to sleep is too small even for a person.🤔
