I made the legs longer because a lot of older people live in my area and I wanted a lighter feel to the piece and one where people don't have to bend over to use it. Thanks for the comments.
I saw , the transformation of the bottom of hutch, very nice. Just finished watching the top portion. Two things I would have done differently, I would have stained the leg portion black. I think that would have gone better with the top. Secondly, I would never have glued the trim in. They are meant to be nailed in. If the glass breaks it is going to be impossible to remove the trim without breaking it and/or the glass. Overall, the top came out very nice.
You said tall china cabinets didn't sell in your area, and then made one. You are learning and trying. I personally don't like the grey or the legs or the stain color, but some will. I admire your effort.
I said LARGE china cabinets do not sell in my area. That is why I split the two pieces. The cabinet is lighter without the base. It is easier to sell as a sideboard/dresser and a display cabinet on legs. Thanks for watching.
I broke down my china cabinet. The bottom had a square frame that the base cabinets set on. It is now my island in the kitchen. The top (with a built base) sits in my dining room with family pieces and our books from yesteryear. Just saying, if rooms are small and neighbor the next, it could be a good look.🤔
The top is very nice beautiful job but the legs do not fit to the rest. If you want to sell it maybe think of changing them to shorter one and not rustic stained😉 sorry for telling my honest opinion , I do not want to be rude ☺️
No worries. Everyone has a different taste. A lot of older people live in my area so I wanted the legs to be longer so there would be no bending over. Thanks for the comment.
Glad to see how you did this. I've got a hutch top in the garage I need to utilize. Finally I may have a use for it!! Thank you.
Glad I could help!
