The secondary (but really important) effect of running fvttoptimizer is that the database(s) that use the image are also updated to use the new one. I'm not super familiar with how The Forge works, but if it's just hosting your content online, then: * Downloading your full world (assuming the assets you want to optimize are inside that folder) * Running the optimizer on the world * Reuploding your world with the optimized assets/updated .db files should do the trick. Please note that the optimizer has to be used on files that are inside the Foundry /Data/ directory for it to work! Also note that this is not going to update any .db file still on The Forge that may be sharing the same visual assets.
I'll admit I'm not super familiar with The Forge cause I have my instance all set up in the cloud, but if it works like a remote repository it should be enough to download your world, run the optimized locally, then reupload it. As I mentioned though I'm not familiar with Forge, so I would run a small scale test on single image/database first to see that nothing breaks. Edit: #core-how-to in the Foundry Discord should definitely be able to answer this though!
im having a really hard time having the exe working. i think the option with just the exe is suppose to be without needing to install python right? Unless it requires it but i dont see it when i go to "Step 2: Install program".
Hey there! Make sure that the path to the folded is correct and that you are using \\ instead of spaces in the path. The other problem people are having is, usually, with the last instruction; you can follow this tutorial to add the installation path to your PATH system environment variable: www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm#windows10 (this is for Windows10, there are other options at the top of the link)
You simply need to navigate to the folder mentioned in the instructions, then create a normal .txt file. Make sure to have "show file extension" ticked, then change the .txt extension to .conf. Confirm when asked "are sure you want to change the extension".
@@ThatItalianGuySA thanks, i manager to do that but in the end it won't work anyway. In powershell, i drag and drop both exe and the picture from the data folder, but it is not converted :(
Wow this has helped quite a bit. Grazie mille.
My data is on the forge data server. How would I use this process on my files?

Any ideas on how to get the optimizer to run on a hosted solution like forge-vtt?

This is excellent! both videos in the series have been very helpful. Thanks
