The Japanese release of Contra had an introduction to the game, a level map between stages, animated background imagery, an unlockable sound test, and the two extra tracks of music included here.
These were cut from the US Contra because they were unable to use the VRC2 mapper that the Famicom version had.

Story of Contra:
So basically, Arnold Schwarzenegger and his best pal Sylvester Stallone fight against aliens and stuff. That's it.
Oh man. Even after all those years, my older brother and older sister who are semi-retired gamers still know the Contra trick. Oh memories.
