    She can be unwell, on the decline and still be deserving of agency over her life. Aging in this country is so terrible.

    • @MsZandiX
      @MsZandiX 10 дней назад +5

      This statement doesn't make sense because her being unwell in the way stated directly means she can't exercise agency over her life. And what would agency mean if her family were financially taking advantage of her?

    • @elijahishere
      @elijahishere 10 дней назад +8

      Respectfully, no she can't. Not if she isn’t mentally coherent most of the time. My grandfather had dementia. He was so succesful that he hadnt worked since 1985. He passed in 2020. I didn’t understand why he needed a permanent caretaker because he seemed fine to me. Declining, but fine. When he woke up in the middle of the night and screamed at me for having a gun in his house (it was a regular chapter book), I knew my family had a point.

    • @SirenScorpio

      She definitely needs care but she should have certain freedoms but let's not act like her big personality doesn't make it hard for her to maintain said agency or for ppl to deal with her.

    • @arianna5270
      @arianna5270 10 дней назад +11

      @@elijahishere Agency doesn’t mean nobody intervenes if she is putting herself or others in danger. It means doing the necessary labor to ensure she stays in the care of her family and keeping her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. Whether that be giving her son a warning or having an elder family member take over her care. There is no reason for her to be locked in a high rise without access to friends and limited access to family when her whole family is in Florida and wants her there with them.

      But the condition is degenerative. So while this week she isn’t all gone, we don’t know where she’ll be next week. Best thing to do is educate her family and let them take her under the condition they hire a full time caretaker to live with her. They also can’t allow her to drink coz that’s making her mind fail faster.

If you don't know her or haven't seen her for a while you'd think she was ok. But spend some time with her and you'll see. The repeating of conversations, forgetting, if you remind her of something or you show concern because she forgot something major she will get extremely defensive/ angry. I work in the mental health field, and some of the biggest challenges facing people aren't only the disorders themselves but dealing with family who dont even try to learn and understand how to help them. It goes from denial of the situation to downright blaming them for the disorders. The most stable people have emotionally intelligent and aware families.

      Would you say your reality is the norm or the exception? Because I think that's the difference here.
      As Joseph on Fish Jelly was saying, people will take advantage of disabled people for $1100 a month. It's not a stretch to think that they'd do it over an individual who is a multi millionaire, and that's what people keep missing.
      I haven't particularly heard anyone say disabled people should not be allowed agency. It seems to me the argument here is the extent of agency when a person is a very high earning cognitively incapacitated individual who has developed a disability over time.

Given that the courts are already involved, it would make sense that a judge look into Wendy’s personal relationships 5 years to a decade or so before her dementia diagnosis to determine who Wendy trusted most to care for her. But I would automatically count out Kelvin and Kevin Jr (her ex-husband and son) given their most recent actions. I would also make sure she had mandatory wellness checks to supervise her health in anyone’s care. And have the courts invoke a limit to her spending that doesn’t surpass a fraction of what she was spending prior to her health decline.

One day they love me and the next, I’m a liar and disrespectful and the chef is poisoning their food. Took me a few tries to get it together and learn how to manage the situations that pop up. These folks are fairly wealthy and the ones further along in the disease have aids and 24hr nurses. They are lucky that they can afford at home healthcare. I said: How are ya forgetting how this lady family played in her face? everyone is fighting to get custody of her so they can USE HER! they are screaming she's fine she's fine but she's getting better and not 100% fine! everyone has alternative motive and it's so clear. Yes, I don't think she deserves to be where she at but i don't think the person who has guardianship over her is bad, if anything i think they're doing the best they can because I've noticed an improvement.

    I am so happy that you're having this conversation with the general public because I have been wanting to make a video about this for the longest time. It is very scary how quickly people are ready to give-away their own rights under the guise of spiting someone else. People are so ready to wish-'the worst'-upon people who do bad things that they don't understand how easy they're making it for the same things to be done to them without even the cause that leads them to advocate for their enactment against others.

    I think the reason Wendy is cognitive is because she is in a facility that monitors her visitors and has probibited her drinking. Maybe Wendy shouldn't be in New York and away from her family, but Wendy Williams should not be free to live her life free of conservatorship. The family is not being totally honest and neither are the fans. I listened to Wendy during that Breakfast Club interview. You can tell Wendy is struggling. Wendy is not incapacitated, but there is a decline. We must note that dementia is a declining state and not the same as Alzheimer's. Some days Wendy will be very cognitive and some days she will not. Maybe this conservator may not be the one to manage Wendy, but Wendy definitely can't.

Im a home care aid and you wouldn't believe the people I have worked with, And for the most part its the families that be the main problem, When you work for elderly or patients in hospice you already know what your going to be dealing with for the most part. The families of these people sometimes want to be neglectful and dont help with their love ones or they want you to be a maid for them. Which is not apart of homecare. I pray for patients that have to deal with being sick and dealing with the in and outs of everyday life.

    I really think Justin is in to something as far as other celebrities being accountable financially in this situation. People give Wendy a lot of credit for NY radio and they’ll say they wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her. The Breakfast Club and Power 105 should get together with the other radio stations in NYC or even in the tri-state area and throw a gala or something for Wendy. They can make it their mission to make sure she is okay. Plus, she loved Howard Stern so much and Joan Rivers, Howard and Joan’s daughter should participate, too! The Little Caesar’s CEO or executive that took care of Rosa Parks’s rent towards the end of her life is an example of how it could and should look.
