Hi there I'm a new subscriber and I found you via the algorithm it's a shame you didn't see or read about Dr Will Bulsiewicz and fibre. He says to avoid the toilet trouble you should introduce fibre at a slower rate than doubling on the first day. So glad it didn't last ... As for blood pressure testing the best time they recommend when you first wake up relaxed before getting out of bed . As for the reasons you say and if you've eaten first or are stressed it's not as accurate.. best wishes from the UK!
Just to add apologies if I come across condescending I read this information in Dr B's book. Which I thought would avoid your subscribers being put off trying the plant based diet by doing the same thing. As Dr Will explains too much fibre at once more than one is used to. Thanks it's refreshing to see a healthy balanced attitude when it comes to food. I'm the same with beetroot compared to your dislike of mushrooms. I know our taste buds change regularly but that's one food I can't get round.. But I have tried maybe disguising it with some more foods disgustingly too earthy for me. But I'm vegan and disabled I can't exercise anymore but I do adapted yoga and flexibility moves adding resistance. as I can't do cardio and any high impact exercises due to health problems. I was a former gym bunny spending upto 2 hours in the gym 5 days weekly. But that was before my health issues.. really enjoyed the video.. best of luck with your blood pressure ironically I have to increase my salt intake to help raise my blood pressure...all the best from London (I eat a wholefoods refined carbs and refined sugar free rich with nuts beans legumes and seeds
1500 mg sodium is not enough. The latest research puts 2000 mg as an absolute minimum. Below that the hazard ratio for all-cause mortality rises significantly. Up to about 5000 mg is fine.
I'm a registered dietitian nutritionist with a focus on eating for longevity. I am a big fan of Dr. Greger and create my own delicious recipes that are in line with his principles.
Dried mushrooms are VERY concentrated and are not intended to be eaten in their dry form. They are typically reconstituted in water and used sparingly in sauces, soups, risotto etc. Also can use the water they were soaking in to flavor foods. Maybe worth another try this way :)
I’ve been eating like Dr. Greger for 3 years! I’m now 60 years old. All my health metrics very quickly normalized, blood pressure, cholesterol, weight are all normal now. My 3 siblings are all obese, on blood pressure and cholesterol meds and two have had cancer. I’m fine. I’ve been making my own pills for the supplements but only recently heard about the blate papes. I’m going to try those. Not sure if that will be easier or not. I make hundreds of filled capsules ahead of time and then put them together into about 60 bundles so I can quickly take them after meals. Oh after I started eating mushrooms and a quarter cup of broccoli sprouts a day, my IgA came back to normal for the first time in my life and my MGUS (Monoclonal Gammopathy, a precancerous condition) disappeared. Good thing I love mushrooms! I put them in everything now! Dude, I’m 60 and my blood pressure is 110 over 70. Keep your sodium down!
seed oils and carbohydrates are enemy #1, cut them out . snacking and multiple meals a day elevate insulin and blood sugar multiple times e day enemy #2 gram for gram, plant protein is deficient ( missing critical amino acids) VS meat 🥩, and plant nutrients bioavailability ( read absorption) is way lower than meat 🥩, 98% of plants are toxic to us while 99% animals are edible to us, guess what we have evolutionary been designed to eat.
@@paulamoors I feel ya. I lost weight hoping to get off the the acid reflux meds too, but no luck so far. Maybe if I lose another 10 pounds into the mid range of normal weight it will work. I think I’m not as bad as I was though.
I'm 56 years old female, I'm on Michael Greger daily dozen for six years!! I'm 165 cm height and 56 kg weight. I never felt better than I'm on this diet!!! Thanks dr Greger!!!!
Regarding sodium, I find the best alternative is other spices and fresh herbs. Dr. Greger supports this as long as they don't contain salt. This really enlivens my diet and guests comment on the tastiness of my cooking. It's a very workable alternative. I use cumin, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, all the herbs, paprika, pepper flakes, coriander, curcumin, lemon grass, curry, mustard, garam masala, elote, umami (derived from mushrooms), and others. You might also try kala namak, or black salt. It's manufactured differently from regular salt and has a strong, somewhat eggy, taste. A little goes a long way.
OMG, I forgot to include the power house flavor makers--garlic, ginger, onions, and peppers. I include them in most savory dishes. Citrus zest and juice are also super flavor enhancers.
@@TheVeganGym You might also want to try potassium salt. It tastes salty but contains potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride. Dr Greger has an article/video about it on his website.
I used to consume a lot of salt. Now I only eat it if I’m going out for dinner or there are no non-salt options (e.g. buying nuts when I’m travelling). After a few months your palette adjusts and you no longer need the salt to enhance the flavour of foods.
I honestly love how honest you are about how your body is reacting to new foods. Thank you for being transparent! I laughed at cursing out the almond milk. Relatable.
This made me laugh out loud over and over. The “shaving minutes of Dr. Greger’s lifespan” really cracked me up as did your dirt mushroom moment. Thank you for this gem!
I use the black cumin in lentil wraps. It’s really good! 👍🏻 1 tsp to 1 cup soaked red lentils / 2cups water. Also add garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Soak for 24 hours. Blend, add extra water if the batter is too thick. Should be a thinner pancake batter consistency and cook them like pancakes. Super delish. Fill with tofu, veggies, greens, and top with any kind of sauce you like or cabbage slaw. Delicious. 🤤 Amla powder I just add to my smoothies. 🤷🏻♀️ And drink golden chai to get my turmeric in. 😋
I started on the powders. I had taken Amla for years, but for some reason I quit. After 2 weeks of putting Amla back in my diet, I noticed a difference in my hair. Some friends made a comment on how fast my hair grows. I went to the hair dresser and he noticed a difference right away! When I'm using Amla my hair grows faster. There's are some articles on animal hair using with Amla, but I've not seen any with humans. It must not work on everyone, check out sweet Dr. Greger's hair. I do like using the little wraps for the powders. Thanks!
Loved this episode! Interesting to see you incorporate his suggestions & your response to them. We definitely need to customize to our preferences & reduce the ‘junk’ but always great information from Dr. Greger. Thank you 😊👍🏻
@@Hikari7775 I don't know who you are nor do I care. I find it hilarious that you can say that, while you vegans spend their entire short vegan lives crying like a toddler because I eat meat. I am here to make fun of you, like I do to the flat eathers.
A note on blood pressure: The lower number (diastolic) is the most important. This is because it is the pressure in your veins when the heart is at rest. This means it is the blood pressure in your veins at the lowest continuous pressure. Your blood pressure does not go lower than the diastolic pressure, therefore the higher this pressure is the worse it is for risk of clots, stroke etc... The higher (systolic) number is also important but a high diastolic is worse.
I watched as I made my morning green smoothie (including protein powder 😜) PLUS wheat germ - I added this since you posted your interview with Dr. G 😉👍 I really felt for you on day 2, the sodium quantity seemed so stressful! Also, I went and looked at the sodium content in the almond milk I use 😹 I liked your practical advice at the end - start with small steps and build on them! 🙌✨
Hi Leif. Such an awesome video. As a new member of VSA, I’m taking my health journey to the next level! Not least of all, I appreciate your so epic videos and learn a bunch. About the powders, like Amla, black cumin, turmeric/black pepper, etc. combo: I learned one trick from the Esselstyns is to just toss them into your breakfast oatmeal- along with chopped greens, like beet greens , chard, and/or kale. I barely taste the spices. But I must say I like the idea of consuming them in the spice pouch. Over all, thanks so much.
Yay, welcome to the Vegan Superhero Academy! 💪🌱 I really appreciate your kind words and support of our work and content! 😊🙏 I actually attended a conference where Dr. Greger and Dr. McDougall spoke and at breakfast, there were SO many spices put out next to the oatmeal. That’s not something I’ve done before, but that’s a great idea! I must say the spice packet is really convenient for getting down a lot of spices at one time. Thanks for watching! I look forward to seeing you in our VSA group and hopefully at the Vegan Superhero Retreat! 😄
Hi Leif. Thank you so much for doing this video. I will incorporate many things in my meals from watching it. You did look tired by the end of the week. I like eating the way you do and enjoy your meals.
Mincing mushrooms and adding a bit to grains or legumes is a great way to get them in, working up, and also add a bass note with umami. Spice like hatch or chipotle and tomato also helpful to mask. Remember new gut troops grow as we feed them and create new cravings
Thank you for doing this. I watched this a while ago. I made some changes then, but thought the spice packet was a NO WAY for me! But after getting used to the earlier changes, I actually put all those spices and the packets in my Amazon cart. I'll let them sit there for a couple days until im sure I want to do it. Cutting sodium was one of my latest changes - it's hard.
I’m glad you touched on the importance of sodium for athletes. I was actually hospitalized for hyponatremia (low sodium) twice because I was afraid of sodium. The low sodium caused me to have six seizures at once. Since adding more salt, I have started to feel better, have had more energy, and enhanced my athletic performance. Please don’t be afraid of salt. Just avoid ultra processed foods like fried foods high in salt. Nothing wrong with adding salt to your food.
Wow. Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm sorry that happened to you and I'm glad you're feeling better now. There can definitely be a fine line with too little or too much sodium. 💚
Dried porcini needs to be soaked in hot water, then you add it to your meal with most of the water, excluding the last tiny bit of water because that is where any soil from the mushrooms gather. I love porcini but would never crunch on it dried like that, it would be horrible. It's great in soups, deep umami flavour.
Hey Leif! What a great video! Thank you. I had just ordered this book and it's here, and I was going to start the process as well! I have added some of those items to my daily intake. The mushrooms though..,.. LOL, I am definitely like you, absolutely HATE mushrooms. SO I use a mushroom powder and put it in my smoothie, so I can't taste it at all! But glad you've shown us this process. Thank you. Hugs from Northern Minnesota!
@@TheVeganGym... I see you are using mushroom powder now as well. So we'll get the benefits of those crazy little things, but not the rubbery gross taste! 🙂🙂
30:45 your blood pressure cuff isnt place properly, so you wont get the most accurate reading. The rubber attachment should be going down from the center of your inner elbow, not on the side toward your tricep
Great video! Also-the little spice packets I have now incorporated into my daily goals-just seeing how you prepared them helped give me the confidence to try! Its so easy now!
Excellent video! I've been a Dr. Greger fan for years but I agree that most of us can't go 100%. If we are within the 80-95% range of eating healthy, enjoy the rest as a treat!
A new study found that smoothies combining bananas with berries proved to decrease its flavanols (a key nutrient in berries) after being blended together.
Yes, I saw that, thank you for sharing. Here’s my perspective… if you decided to cut out every food from your diet that got any shade of bad press from a single study, you’d have to learn to photosynthesize to stay alive. Oh, but don’t get too much sun because that causes skin cancer. 😅
@@TheVeganGym Don't remove Bananas from your diet just eat at a different time to the berries. Berries you eat for breakfast will be gone from your stomach after 60 to 90 minutes so eat the banana for a mid monring snack.
The key for me and Greger…a slow, purposeful, educated (learn as much as possible while adding one food at a time to understand effect) transition. I never thought I would get up to the 80-100 grams of fiber…but it is possible IF you transition slowly. Going from 30mg to 80mg overnight is shocking the species of bacteria that normally do that job…it takes weeks/months for the gut biome to change to a healthy mix for whole foods and high fiber. Also, I like your makeshift spice “pill”…I have learned to add/hide all those spices within recipes. Yes. It’s possible and palatable. 😂 Examples…amla and/cranberry mixed 😅in with yogurt, long pepper and black cumin as a substitute for black pepper, fenugreek seed powder in smoothies, etc. So sorry to hear the mushroom is your nemesis! Fortunately, I love them. The good news is that research has shown you don’t need very much each day. Be well and thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Yes, I definitely want to try adding everything from my spice "pill" in my meals as well. I'm glad you love mushrooms! Maybe I will with time. 😃
Thank you for this. It is interesting and entertaining. Lol. Dried mushroom powder is great in soups. I don't think you would even notice it. My favorite apple is Braeburn, but they are hard to find. Pink Lady is my second favorite.
incredibly insightful video! i recommend doing this format but for glucose revolutions methods:D you probably wont even need to buy any new or special foods as her method focuses less on what to eat, and more when to eat what!
About the Wegman's Wild Blueberries, I called the company and after MUCH prodding got one person to admit that they use pesticides, "mostly organic pesticides," she said; "mostly" being the operative word. I understand that the small wild blueberries have twice the antioxidants of large blueberries, but for me the Organic Blueberries is the way to go because they're organic (no pesticides). I buy Whole Foods Organic Blueberries.
I take Brazil nuts for my thyroid. I just found out that if I don’t get the right amount of iodine that could affect my thyroid as well. Where can I find combu?
First video I’ve watched. Ironically I sat down and made a health packed smoothie, green tea, a powdered supplement drink, pistachios & an iq bar. Felt good to know I was already doing it right before I’ve heard of either of you. Love the research in this, Automatic follow 12 years vegan here :)
Because I blend all my spices with dried fruit, flax, etc I can't taste the harshness etc... here's my breakfast (eat like a king) I blend (electric chopper) my spices (ground - black cumin, turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, ginger, alma, with 6 dried prunes, goji berries, barberries, wheatgerm, flaxseeds, chia seeds, nuts/seeds and sprinkle over cooked tri-colour quinoa and amaranth. (I batch cook quinoa and amaranth with dried frigs and apricots. Then add cranberry powder, mixture of berries which includes blueberries. ((Blend cooked soya beans with soya milk, dates, and pour over quinoa and amaranth... heat in the microwave before sprinkling my mix above)). 70 to 100g of Kale blended with banana, soya milk, dates and fruit... can add 2 tablespoons of hemp seeds for protein. Long pepper with tofu makes it taste more eggy. Airfried mushrooms are delicious. Purple sweet potatoes are sublime and not easy for me to buy where I live so I'm jealous if you can buy them easily. I've been following Greger since 2016. Myself and my husband are doing really well. I'm nearly 60 and my husband 73. We do weights, bike ride, pilates, walk and feeling better than we felt in our twenties. Back in the day we drank, smoked and didn't eat well. Every change we've made since 2011 has been life saving. It started with watching Earthlings. Vegan and people scared us that we'd suffer so after discovering Greger and getting to really understand nutrition we now realise that those people who worried about us aren't doing so well and we actually worry more about them. We've bought many copies of the How Not To Die book and given them to family and friends including two dentists and my doctor. It's not easy for people to change. They've got to really want to and they do change but only if they believe. Unfortunately the junk food (and I include meat/dairy in that category) are everywhere and fast food more available now than ever. Consequences of covid. The biggest health scare created more junk food eaters. 😢
Very nice! Thanks for sharing your typical day of eating as well as your vegan journey. It's so awesome to hear how Dr. Greger and the vegan diet can change someone's life for the better! I agree that it's not easy for some people to change, that's why we've got to get them as many resources as possible! Thanks you so much for the support. 🌱😃
The facial expressions after some of the new foods. Haha the Porcini Mushroom and berries on day two dinner 😂😂 👏🏼 I appreciate the honesty in this video.
I add barberries to my smoothies. While porcini mushrooms may be edible raw, they become tasty cooked. Try them with your beans. From my research, one leaf of kombu a day should be way too much iodine.
This was an interesting experiment for you. You need to look at garlic and onion powder and oregano and for sweet cinnamon and cardomom add flavour. Fresh cooked mushrooms are also can be added to many of the recipes you made. Sinmett nutrition makes some tasty recipes.
We started cutting sodium after having our first child and finding out that babies can't have too much sodium only 350mg max per day, until their kidneys develop fully. It's amazing how your taste buds change once you start cutting salt. Now, I find lots of processed food taste too salty to me now.
Thank you for sharing that! I figured that if I were to keep going with less sodium that my taste buds would adjust so I'm glad that that's your experience as well! 😃💚
I’m a huge fan of Dr. Greger and I’m actually going to see him speak again on Sunday . I try to incorporate most of the things he mentioned in how not to age. I add Chaga mushroom extract powder to my smoothies as well as Amla powder. I would like to try to find some way of calculating my protein, fiber, salt intake . If anyone knows a really good app, please let me know!
Great video! 🙌🏼 Im wondering about the salt intake and athletes too and if the extra salt is an increased risk or not. However remember that this is for longevity. Athletes arent the ones that live the longest… Low protein and low salt is for longevity. Not for building muscle or endurance training. 🙏🏻
Good point! I like the perspective of thinking that the lower protein and salt is specifically for longevity as opposed for building muscle. Definitely something to keep thinking on! 😃
@@TheVeganGym for sure. The enzyme that inhibits endothelium function from salt is partially blocked when eating antioxidants. If that means you can offset the whole risk - Idk because I don’t know if its the same enzyme that hurts our bowels (stomach cancer). However that might be worth looking in to as well if you ”need” extra salt. 🙏🏻
As I've eaten in a similar way a year ago, trying to limit sodium and raising potassium, I didn't find it too hard to consume max. 2000 mg of sodium a day. But less dan 1500 mg was noticably harder to achieve and highly depended on what I was cooking. I also worked out a lot (around 45-60 minutes weight training and 30 minutes cycling a day) back then and I sweat a lot during workouts and thougt the same as you: Sweating a lot should raise the targets for sodium. I've read some studies which hinted to that, but I can't remember, so it's more of an educated guess than anything else.
I dont get the sodium thing man, idk if Dr Greger doesnt work out or do cardiovascular activity, but sodium is the electrolyte lost in the highest proportion in sweat so ur performance would likely suffer on a low sodium diet
So many strict SOS-free wfpb people aren’t the working out type as I’ve observed, sadly. Besides light cardio, I’m constantly recommending that the women in particular care for their bone density by weightlifting.
He does work out - lots of walking and our team has built him a resistance training program that he's been following for a few months. But yes, I agree with you on the sodium. I discuss this in detail at 33:47 💪🌱 Thanks for watching! 🙏
@@pdblouin many people do have an increase in stomach cancer rates because of their overconsumption of salt in ultra processed food like crisps and chips, but if you only eat one ingredient foods, salting your own food and consuming salt strategically around aerobic activities shouldnt be a problem
Dr Michael Greger is ambitious. When I think about those in my family that I lost due to preventable diseases, I wish they were ambitious too. We have a choice, to eat healthy food and be with our loved ones or eat trash and disappear from planet earth. There is nothing bad with being very ambitious when it comes to nutrition :)
Note in Greger's vids regarding beets for workout recovery. Can confirm, I take two of health's harmony beetroot tablets (not sponsored) before workout and I notice a difference afterwards. (lots of walking, row machine)
When you talk about protein intake per day, are you referencing total body mass or lean body mass? For example, say a body builder should have 1.4 grams (min) per kg of body weight. If I weigh 100 kg, that's 140 grams of protein a day. However if my lean body mass is only 50 kg, that means my protein would be half that at 70 kg of protein. Just not sure if I should be using lean body mass or total body mass in the calculations. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! And great question 🙂 I am referencing grams of protein per kilogram of total body weight in this video. That's how muscle-building protein targets are most commonly noted in the scientific literature. Keep in mind that the average subjects in these studies are relatively lean. For anyone with a high body fat percentage, you don't need to consume this much protein per kilogram of total body weight. I hope this helps! 💪🌱
@TheVeganGym I may have missed it, but what is the little "baggy" that you put your spices in and then dip into water? I was trying to put spices into capsules and it was a hassle. That baggy however looks super convenient for a variety of spices.

Whenever we eat new foods, or change our diet abruptly, it does take time for the bacteria in the microbiome to catch up. Cruciferous vegetables, eaten raw, can be hard on the tummy. It's better to cook cruciferous plants if raw is not well tolerated.
Loved the video, can you give us some of the recipes you had for the week or maybe a video like you did for menopause but with Dr. Gregor’s anti ageing ingredients and daily dozen? 😊
Lower salt in this society is important..but for the people who eat very clean and unprocessed wfpb they really need to mindfull as well to not get too little sodium. It is an important ingredient for your body for generating stomach acid. So eating too clean and too low salt too long is not good for your digestion on the longer term. Loved the video and the humor!
Re: smoothies and breakfast bowels. I don't use milk, Instead, I use cold decaf I keep made up in the fridge. On the rare occasion I might want "milk" for a recipe, oat and nut milk is actually ridiculously easy to make. Soy milk, not so much. This way I avoid all the processed gunk added to commercial milks. I soak nuts (usually cashews) or oatmeal overnight and blend them. All the recipes online have you straining it with a nut bag. Since I don't drink milk, I don't bother with straining. BTW, my sodium count for this day was 424 mg. My total calories were about 1600. I am not an athlete but a reasonably active woman, so I can't eat as much as you. Yes, I regularly hit Dr Greger's Daily Dozen. I've never had much a taste for salt, but I do use LOTS of herbs and spices.
Interesting idea of using cold decaf from the fridge! I totally agree how awesome homemade plant milk is and your method sounds super simple. 424mg of sodium sounds wild considering the trouble I had! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 😃💚
This was great, glad you tried it. Over the last few years I got my salt consumption below 1000 mg on most days. My BP is averaging 120/75 and I am 71 years old. No pills! Fibre averages 100 mgs on most days.
Did the diet affect your movement and digestion with the workouts? Every time I've tried Dr. Greger-esque diets I have to stop because of bloating (also getting the amount of calories is a chore).
Salt doesn't spill out in sweat if you are not overdosing the body with salt, is what I was told, so if you continue to cut back you should see the difference. Jeff Novick says we need 250mg sodium/day. The less you eat the less you want it like oil and sugar, eventually being repulsed by "normal" levels 👍 keep going
Much as I respect Dr. Greger I'm definitely not a fan of smoothies...ever. Chewing your food not only adds a ton of sensory pleasure but also brings the digestive chemicals of your saliva into play and gives your stomach time to expand and send satiety signals to your brain. If you want to "actually enjoy what you are eating" then it's better to eat than to drink. I cook up pleasing meals in large enough amounts to stockpile a couple of extras in the fridge or freezer and then add in fresh fruits and veggies when I heat them up, possibly a time add in some of the powders and potions;)
That's an interesting perspective I hadn't thought of before with your saliva! I understand where you're coming from but with the amount of calories I'm eating in a day, I wouldn't be able to consume the volume of food without shakes. 😃💚
@@TheVeganGym Didn't think of the bodybuilding perspective...from the collar up you look more like an accountant;) Most of the whole food/plant based experts mention that eating these less calorie dense foods poses the problem of getting enough calories, and most people (me) who adopt it are looking to lose weight while reversing or protecting against metabolic disease(me). My weight loss has been steady and painless, you, on the other hand are looking to add muscle mass. Stick with the plants though, you won't be young and bullet proof forever and I can't tell you how much I wish I had stuck with the pre-vegan whole food vegetarian ways of my 20s. Pretty sure that at 72 now I wouldn't have coronary artery disease;)
I have been low salt for decades (on and off). I don't eat packaged food at all. Because as you found, salt is in EVERYTHING! If you make your own plant milk in one of these milk makers then maybe that's a solution.
I keep hearing the mushroom revulsion. Here is my suggestion, that I logged in to my damn phone to post (I watch RUclips on my big screen). Use FRESH mushrooms and cook them thoroughly. White mushrooms should be browned. Mushrooms are very moist, and if they are not cooked long enough, they have a mushy/slimey texture. Put the sliced mushrooms in a very large skillet with just a bit of EVOO, and cook all the fluid out of them. Think of this as the difference between rare steak and well done steak. Another option is to add mushroom powder to dishes like stews, grain dishes, etc.
Thank you so much for the tips!! I definitely want to keep working on my mushroom game. If they're as good as they're supposed to be, I need to find a way to consistently consume them! 😃
Thank you for sharing your experience. You might look into Well Your World SOS free seasonings, dressings, sauces, and more. I also like to add Ka'Chava into my day. Ka'Chava has lots of good things in it, including mushrooms.

Dried mushrooms are VERY concentrated and are not intended to be eaten in their dry form. They are typically reconstituted in water and used sparingly in sauces, soups, risotto etc. Also can use the water they were soaking in to flavor foods. Maybe worth another try this way :)
100% correct!
Yeah that was hilarious to watch. I love mushrooms and couldn't have done that.
I couldn't believe a 10 year vegan would not have at least tried these things before. Especially if he is not a junk food vegan.

Same! NEVER felt this good in my life. Love wfpbnosos way of eating. Best gift I ever gave myself.
Same love it
OMG, I forgot to include the power house flavor makers--garlic, ginger, onions, and peppers. I include them in most savory dishes. Citrus zest and juice are also super flavor enhancers.
Love that idea! I do something similar with some salt-free flavor enhancers like Benson's Table Tasty! 😄🌱
Relatable.
Haha that almond milk tilted me!! Glad you enjoyed the video. 😃💚
This made me laugh out loud over and over. The “shaving minutes of Dr. Greger’s lifespan” really cracked me up as did your dirt mushroom moment. Thank you for this gem!
Haha! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😄💚
I really laughed over that one too!
Delicious. 🤤
Amla powder I just add to my smoothies. 🤷🏻♀️ And drink golden chai to get my turmeric in. 😋
Yum!! That sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing your recipe! I definitely want to try this. 😃💚
Haha. Your diet "shaving minutes off Dr. Greger's 180 year lifespan" 😂
I think tortilla chips are worth it 😂
I started on the powders.

Yes, I totally agree! The modern western diet is a bit of a mess right now! 🌱
False. It is still better than the deficient vegan diet.
@@GarudaLegends Why do I see you absolutely everywhere in the vegan and plant-based space then? We vegans really seem to live rent-free in your head 🤣

Thank you for sharing all of this. I'm trying to learn as much as I can!

Love the honesty here. The Gregor diet is not suppose to be this strict. Do what you can and live longer for it :)
I watched as I made my morning green smoothie (including protein powder 😜) PLUS wheat germ - I added this since you posted your interview with Dr. G 😉👍
I really felt for you on day 2, the sodium quantity seemed so stressful! Also, I went and looked at the sodium content in the almond milk I use 😹
I liked your practical advice at the end - start with small steps and build on them! 🙌✨

Suuuper high quality video. Way to go!
Mincing mushrooms and adding a bit to grains or legumes is a great way to get them in, working up, and also add a bass note with umami. Spice like hatch or chipotle and tomato also helpful to mask. Remember new gut troops grow as we feed them and create new cravings
I love this!! I definitely want to add mushrooms more to my diet and this seems like a super viable way to do so. 💚
The spice packet gets easier and easier I promise!! I am now a pro spice packet consumer!! 😃
Great video, I'd love to see more of these. Like Eat with the 21 tweaks - only seen one other video that tried it.
Love that idea! Yes hopefully I'll like that better than the way I consumed it haha. 😄🌱

First time viewer. I loved your video and am now a new subscriber.
Examples…amla and/cranberry mixed 😅in with yogurt, long pepper and black cumin as a substitute for black pepper, fenugreek seed powder in smoothies, etc.

Long pepper with tofu makes it taste more eggy.

Great video! 🙌🏼 Im wondering about the salt intake and athletes too and if the extra salt is an increased risk or not.
However remember that this is for longevity. Athletes arent the ones that live the longest…
Low protein and low salt is for longevity.
Do you have the recipes for your green tea smoothies?
Elmhurst milked almonds unsweetened has 5 mg of sodium per cup. Three Trees original almond milk unsweetened has 10mg of sodium per cup.
Interesting!! That's more than I ever realized!

Your rant against the almond milk was hilarious!
Haha I just wholeheartedly believe that soy milk is the superior plant milk!! 💚

Whenever we eat new foods, or change our diet abruptly, it does take time for the bacteria in the microbiome to catch up. Cruciferous vegetables, eaten raw, can be hard on the tummy. It's better to cook cruciferous plants if raw is not well tolerated.
Yep that's definitely something to keep in mind. Thanks for reminding me! In general, my stomach is pretty good with raw veggies. 😃

In principal, I agree with you! In practice, I think it can be pretty tough for most people to get too little sodium. Glad you enjoyed the video! 😃💚

Thank you for the motivation! Definitely something to think about how I may crave sodium because of how much I'm currently consuming. 😃💚

I definitely didn't fully understand how salt is in everything, as evidenced by the almond milk!! 😄
Great video, love you bro! Keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words!! Glad you are loving the content! 😃
How are your tracking all your grams of fiber, sodium, protein etc. through your device? Can anyone elaborate. Thank you
I use an app called Cronometer. It’s great! 💪🌱
I completely agree that the sodium levels could be higher.
Great job on this.
Thank you for sharing your experience. You might look into Well Your World SOS free seasonings, dressings, sauces, and more. I also like to add Ka'Chava into my day. Ka'Chava has lots of good things in it, including mushrooms.
Thank you for sharing! I appreciate your kind words and support 🙏😊
Loved this.
Thank you for the kind words! Glad you loved the video. 💚
On a scale of 1-10, how cruciferous was your last week?
Haha definitely a 10/10 🌱👏
