@@thomasmarchese2808I have a m16a4 clone and am suppressing it soon just waiting on it to get here as it’s already been approved! It’s gonna be a rail gun with how long it is lol
I got one for $600 and the Tritium wasn't totally expired but even when they're brand new the Tritium is pretty lame. Only downside to the one I have is that it doesn't have the integrated RMR mount. I'd have to buy an adapter to mount an RMR around the lens. Mine is a TA31RCOM4
used to shoot 3" clays on the hillside at 300 yards with my Steyr/ACOG combo. 16" barrel with 62gr green tip. Super clear and bright. The BDC makes it all too easy.
I have a TA02 for my DD M4A1. It's great. I like the FSP, too, but I don't have one of those. I could get the upper at some point or just get a DD front sight to put on the picattany. The only thing about having the FSP attached to the barrel is that it might be more of a challenge to get a new barrel like that if or when needed so I thought maybe just attaching that DD one to the front rail might work fine. It's definitely cheaper than an upper. Lol.
I'm currently shopping around for an ACOG and I've found that the 3.5x power version has a much more forgiving eye relief. I know it's not the EXACT one the military uses, but I'm leaning towards the 3.5x version. I'm going for looks more than the 'clone' aspect. Great video as always, James!
TA11 is arguably the better one to get for civilians due to the better eye relief, and the fact that the reticle is calibrated for 55gr out of a 16in barrel
It is not just the eye relief that makes the TA11 easier, the eye box is over 50% bigger as well. So basically if you are looking at a target and then bring your rifle up you will almost instantly be able to get the reticle on target. Actually, the Memecog (TA55) is just as good in this regard and I am favoring it to be my second ACOG instead of the TA31. Thoughts anybody?
The TA31 is the first "high end" scope that I purchased for the first carbine over $2K in my collection. It has been on nearly every CF rifle I've owned in the last decade and presently lives on a Galil ACE in 5.45x39.
Love the TA31 green chevron with a piggyback 507ACSS on a 14'' dimpled and P&W barrel LMT. Quick, simple, robust and well balanced. The 507 acts like a head up display and let my head remaining in a very natural posture. And I can get a full cheek weld whenever I need to look through the ACOG.
Great video! Trijicon makes a mount for the ACOG that brings the scope further back so you'll have the proper eye relief! There's some other companies that make the the same type of mounts, but I just can't remember their names! Again, great video!
I prefer the TA11 over the TA31 due to the longer eye relief but that TA31 works great. Weapon Outfitters sells KRAM spacers that moves the optic up and back. The lowest one put you over the midwest industries low profile rear iron sight.

Very nice! I haven’t used the ACOG/RMR combo but I hear it’s great. Also, not exactly what you mentioned you’re after, but another combo is an MPVO/red dot. I have the Primary Arms GLx 3-18x44 FFP with the Holosun 407c. Used a LaRue Tactical LT788-2 to mount it at 12 o’clock. It works well, but not sure if this setup/tier of optic is what you’re looking for. Also, if it makes a difference, technically what I have is an MPVO, not an LPVO.
20 inch AR with an ACOG is the deadliest infantry weapon of our time. Four tours, and this is rifle that pays dividends. I'm a little taller than most, so the eyebox isn't as much an issue for me.
The 4x32 I don't think is the right ACOG for a 20in because of the stock length. When I finally get around an A4 I'll probably pick up a 3.5x35 ACOG. One wonders if the Marines choose a 4x32 because it was already in procurement.
@@T-SwiftsMaritalAid I love the TA31 but short eye relief on acogs is definitely not a myth. It's not a big issue like people make it seem though, you just have to set up your rifle correctly
Youre right about the stock length, especially on a A2 style stock. What i did was installed a A1 stock(.650 inches shorter) onto my fn16 with the ta31 on the carry handle and its perfect. Im 6ft for reference.
The RCO has about the same eye relief as the aperture sights. For as long as the Marines have issued the M16 and its derivatives, they have taught chipmunk cheek and nose to charging handle to achieve proper head position for the iron sights. The RCO requires a nearly identical eye relief to the rear aperture, and for most of us, the A2 stocks accommodate that well until you start adding body armor and pack straps. In your IBA with your patrol pack on, the length of pull on the A2 becomes an issue. I am 6'6" and manage, but even I still feel like I really have to crane my head forward unnaturally to achieve proper eye relief with body armor on. But the eye relief on the RCO really isn't the issue it is made out to be if you are using the techniques you are trained with. Again, the rear aperture has been used effectively on the M16 for 60 years and on previous US service rifles for 60 years prior to that. If you think getting your eye up to the aperture on a 5.56mm rifle is sketch, consider the M14, M1 Garand, and M1903A3 all had aperture sights as well that required your eye to be within an inch and a half of them while firing a full power .30 caliber rifle round.
I can't say that I would get an ACOG unless if it has a picatinny rail of its own when it comes to red dots and/or if I have an offset. It's not terrible, but I'd take magnifiers or LPVOs any day. My only problem is the price 😭📝
