An educated, and experienced individual, who goes through HELPFUL nail art tutorials, is entertaining to watch, knows what she's talking about, and is able to add extremely helpful tidbits of knowledge or tips and tricks on how everything works. Hi Susie, I watched this when I started doing nails about 3 years ago and started my learning journey on my channel. This video popped up in my feed again, so I couldn't resist watching it again (chilling with a glass of wine this time around)☺, it's still a great refresher, I always love watching you teach. Thanks for the company. x
I put on nails on one of my friends and her nails lasted 7+ weeks because of how i’ve done the structure (thanks to Suzie of course who taught me through her videos how to enhance what i already knew). Thank you Suzie for making me love nails and teaching me how to do them properly. We all love you ❤️
I read that it is not healthy to keep it so long for your nails. It will weaken or dry out your natural nail and also if there is even tiny lifting bacteria can start to flourish underneath. But I'm not sure though if it applies to only press on nails or also nail extensions.
@@vitafitification It does consist of enhancements too. But as long as there isn't much lifting then you're fine. If you start to see lifting and it's in more than one place on your nail or if it's a bad lift then get a balance, fill in, infill, or whatever you want to call it lol.
I wish she would do a video on the myths and truths of acrylics/gel/faux nails. Like some folks say that acrylics will make your nails lose their strength and become more brittle.
i think thats only because many people tend to bite them off or wait for them to break, but when they come up, it takes a few layers of your natural nails, leaving it thinner or easier to break
I think most nail salons drill the natural nail too much. At least this is the reason why I stopped getting acrylic sets . My nails were paper thin. You could literally fold them over and they woudn't break.
OMG! I love the 'Table of Contents' at the beginning of the video! It's extremely helpful when I looking for an answer to a specific question, especially in longer videos! Suzie, as always, you rock! This is why you are my go-to instructor!
I do too, but I think after a year of doing them every day, I'd be bored shitless! Watching someone else do them, and doing your own, is very different to working on other people day-in day-out... 🤪🥴
The reason it’s called a “hybrid” because that’s quite literally what it is, it’s a mix between gel and acrylic, both ingredients are in them. Some are more gel based (those are thinner and more pliable) and some are more acrylic based (those are thicker and take more strength to move around) but all are a combination of both ingredients.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing that . I have a question , is builder gel the same as hard gel ? I hear so many gel names in the nail industry , it’s quite confusing.
I once got so excited while doing my nails with poly gel, but when I was done I realized that I forget the primer and they all fell off 😂😂 but tbh they were good looking tho hahaha

I have lost count to how many of your videos I have been watching since I have had to pick up where my nail lady left off (covid). Options sure have multiplied since I first started getting my nails done. You are a great teacher. Thank you for taking the time to do these.
I love how you explain everything in details of how things work. Thanks so much for breaking things down for us to understand about the polygel and builder gel. You video was very helpful to me.
Now in these covid-times I can't get to my nail tech. I therefore bought an e- file and a starter set of hybrid gel. Did my first application yesterday and today. My main issues are getting it thin enough close to the cutical and shaping after. I really am very bad at filing. You make it look so simple! Practice needed! Good thing nobody is going to see them! :)

I don’t do nails professionally , but I love doing my own nails . Going to the salon starts to get pricey . I recently purchased poly gel and it’s amazing how easy it is for people who don’t do nails for a living and can just do them themselves . I’ve done them on my daughters nails as well. I have used the builder gel and it’s quite difficult and messy in my personal opinion . I love watching your videos because you are truly a teacher and explain things properly .
Suzie - thank you for the video. Question: Can you do a thin layer of builder gel on your natural nail as a protective overlay and then add and sculpt polygel on top of that? Thanks!

Suzie, I love your tutorials and check your videos first whenever I have a question about technique! I am only a DIY'er with 20 years of painting my own nails. More recently, since finding your videos 2 1/2 years ago, I have expanded into gel nail polish, gel nail enhancements, and dabbled in acrylic (my least proficient skill). After your video on e-files that can be purchased without a license I have purchased one (that I LOVE). I use a new arbor band each time, but the metal bits usually just get dunked in alcohol. My question then for you is can you do a segment or something on cleaning and sanitizing your work station and all the equipment, like carbide bits, brushes, etc?
I would also love something on this. I am a DIY'R. I have ended up with horrible contact dermatitis on all of my fingers that I had to go to the Dr. I have no idea how I got this as I am very clean and only use stuff on myself, no one else. I need to know how to prevent this. I think it has to do with my drill as I am just learning with it.

Wonderful video! I've only had the pleasure of learning dip powder and now acrylic on myself (a large thank to YOU for teaching me so much..!) But I've been VERY interested in gel nails now. I almost bought a builder gel kit and now I'm absolutely glad I didn't! I think I'll be learning with the HYBRID gel first. Thanks so much for ANOTHER amazing video girlfriend 💓💓💓
I love my time with you 💅🏽🥰 I don’t get my nails done very often bc of my job but nonetheless I love watching your videos! They always get me I a certain mood that no other video can❤️ in Denmark we call it hygge and your videos are very “hyggelige” to me 🥰
When Suzie forgot that the hybrid gel brush and spatula were one unit was literally me also lol she’s so innocent 😇 I love her too much! I also see she’s teasing us with whatever that NCE kit is, can’t wait for her to tell us what it is because I’m snatching one up!
So cute how you forgot the polygel brush was on the other end of the spatula haha. You're such a good, patient teacher that doesn't get caught up in your professional level and explains things to us beginners so well.
@@NailCareerEducation Builder is quicker, but I have issues with a small amount running down the sidewalls onto my skin in the lamp even though I take care to apply it thinly. Hybrid is great but I find that it gets too gooey after I've worked it for a little while, even though I keep my brush moistened with alcohol. Not sure why it happens but it makes forming/building the nail harder and messier than it needs to be.
Great timing! I just did my very first hybrid gel overlay on a broken nail day before yesterday, and I LOVE IT!!! I've never used anything but acrylic powder/liquid systems before, and the hybrid gel was absolutely AMAZING. I have kind of a LOT of acrylic powders and monomer so I probably will still use acrylic, but I will prefer to use hybrid, especially when my son is here because he HATES the smell of monomer with a blinding passion! To be fair, it does give him headaches, so I don't blame him. I didn't tell him about my nearly broken off nail, I just got my lamp and hybrid kit out and went to work. The filing was an absolute _breeze,_ and when I got done I went into his room to show him and he hadn't even known I was doing an overlay on a broken nail! He said he smelled a little alcohol, but it didn't bother him. I'm still shocked at how easy it was, how it doesn't need a primer and how odor-free the whole process really is. *I LOVE HYBRID GEL!*
I suggest The Nail Hub's video on e-filing. She does a GREAT job, plus, she and Suzie are friends who have collaborated on a few videos together. She's a great educator, too.
Hi i"m from Jamaica and I love watching your videos. I love how detailed you are and I literally take notes. I just want you to know I really appreciate your videos.
I have seen several videos of people mixim builder gel with acrylic powder to create "hybrid gel". Can you give it a try and let us know if it actually works?
that's gummy gel. I've done layers of gel & sprinkled acrylic powder on top before curing which worked pretty well for me. I'd suggest that method over mixing then applying,
I've done that. It's a bit of trial and error but it works, you get a solid product with the consistency of a hybrid gel and with decent adhesion. HOWEVER and I cannot stress this enough: those two products were not created to be mixed together, they each have different properties and curing needs so you may end up undercuring or burning your resulting hybrid gel. Typically, within 2-3 weeks the mix will change consistency a bit and color a lot, mine went from a lovely fairy pink to a greige purple; it still cured rock hard but without putting it through laboratory testing you can't tell if it's cured properly and you can't trust it to be healthy for you. Wear the mix at your own risk.
1) Does gel require pure acetone for removal? 2) Acrylic can be pinched fo a C curve. How does one get the gel to create the C curve? My nails tend to go flat.
1. Form well so that you already have a good curve. 2. On the first layer of the extension, which should be thin, flash cure for about 15 sec and then apply a pinching clamp to the free edge; return to lamp and cure fully. I suppose you can get pinching clamps on AliExpress or Ebay, look around :)
Oh, and builder gel can be either soft or hard. Soft gel, you can soak off, while hard gel needs to be filed off. Only use if you're committed to your extensions for long term.
There’s a channel called TheNailHub here on RUclips has a very good video on using forms and getting that c curve. It’s a long video but it’s super educational, I highly recommend it!
I am so happy that you did a video on polygel and builder gel. I was so confused about the both and I was trying to figure out which one was stronger than the other. I don’t want to keep buying so many different products to reach the result that I really want.
Suzie is so relaxing to listen to I love putting these videos on and just hanging out with my cat and a cup of tea ^_^ also is anyone else still waiting for the Jenna Marbles collab because I know I certainly am!!
I LOVE hybrid gel's thickness and ability TO be "backed" up so that I can keep my nails short, but with strength. Builder gel doesn't have the same push.
Nice video thanks for sharing. I’ve been using acrylic on myself for years but it takes forever to shape and file the nails. Thanks to my sister who “introduced” me to gel and the so products I bought the drill and the essential items to do it by myself and I’m doing my nails myself saving me time!! And $$$. Love it!
Do you ever do just press on nails? I've been doing press on nails for years. I've recently learned that using base coat instead of nail glue , then curing it...they look fabulous ( especially the pre colored nails) and stay firmly on my nails for 3 +weeks
This was like a whole education on Polygel, I've watched so many videos and wish I found this first! I'm yet another home polygel/ pot gel artist that got into it while quarantining.. and I'm obsessed. I would do a new set every night if I could.
I believe she did do something like this with acrylic. She still uses her dominant hand as much as possible. For example, to pick up her beads or acrylic, and when she files, she mostly moves her dominant hand and just holds the file still with the other. I do my own nails, and that's what I remember that's helped me the most. Also, if you're using gel (even hybrid) flash cure right away if you like how it looks! That way if you accidentally touch the finger you don't wreck it, and the shape is locked in place until you do your full cure
HyaSagitta here’s a link to one of her other videos where she uses her other hand but as BeautyWearsBoots stated she’s using acrylic instead of gels. I still found her tips to be extremely helpful! I’ve posted the link below and I hope it’s helpful! :) ruclips.net/video/qgK3Y_L2t0A/видео.html

And OMG the word "nuke" !!!!!! My grandma taught me that word years ago. I havent heard anyone else ever use it besides her son, my father. Lol!! Love this woman!!
Talking about affordable efiles... I bought one recently and it is *amazing*, I think it's better than the few you tested. Its by melody Susie and called the scarlet e-file. Its super small too, including the handpiece.
The editing in these videos are amazing 🤩 Also this is perfect for me. A lot of press on nails don’t fit for me because I have big nails. So I’ll be using those techniques on my thumb. I’m sure once I get good I’ll do it on all my nails
I'm also learning. I started with polygel, because it seemed easier. But honestly it's all about finding the right viscosity. I recently bought the ibx system and boost gel. I am in love!!! So easy to get a great Apex, which I have struggled with. And it strengthen s your natural nails!!! Love love love the line
I have to the point I went back to nail salon because my nails were coming off after one or two days...lol But the hybrid is giving me hope to try again.

I recently had my nails done with a builder gel and the tech used a dotting tool, instead of a brush. What do you think about that application? The explanation was that the dotting tool was easier to make the builder flow and with less risk of bubbles.
Love the video! I not a nail pro 😉 teaching myself how to use polygel/hybrid. Thanks to you and all the other pros for teaching newbies how to do it!!!!!

I could watch your videos 5 or 6 times and I always learn something new.
Thanks, Suzie...you’re amazing!
Wonderful video! I've only had the pleasure of learning dip powder and now acrylic on myself (a large thank to YOU for teaching me so much..!)
But I've been VERY interested in gel nails now. I almost bought a builder gel kit and now I'm absolutely glad I didn't! I think I'll be learning with the HYBRID gel first.
Thanks so much for ANOTHER amazing video girlfriend 💓💓💓
Love to watch Susie teach, she’s sooo informative
I love my time with you 💅🏽🥰 I don’t get my nails done very often bc of my job but nonetheless I love watching your videos! They always get me I a certain mood that no other video can❤️ in Denmark we call it hygge and your videos are very “hyggelige” to me 🥰
I swear you are the Bob Ross of nails. I love it.
So refreshing to see someone get to the content immediately and not ramble for 10 minutes first
That's why I love her videos
Absolutely awesome!!!!!!
this was so informative ! you speak so eloquently. thank you so much !
When Suzie forgot that the hybrid gel brush and spatula were one unit was literally me also lol she’s so innocent 😇 I love her too much! I also see she’s teasing us with whatever that NCE kit is, can’t wait for her to tell us what it is because I’m snatching one up!
Have been her student since 2020 and nail journey have really improved thanks so much 🙏
So cute how you forgot the polygel brush was on the other end of the spatula haha. You're such a good, patient teacher that doesn't get caught up in your professional level and explains things to us beginners so well.
I don't do anything to my nails but I'm just obsessed with watching you and the artistry involved! It's so cool!
Which on do *you* prefer?
👍= Hybrid
💬= Builder
Well they are both pretty cool- i think for learning Hybrid is so cool but for clarity i like builder gels
👍
You didn't say what you preferred.
Definitely Hybrid not keen on builder looks too complicated
You are so detailed, and I really appreciate the table of contents at the beginning!
Hi Suzie, have you tried the Apres gel-× system? I would like to know how long they last...
Lucy Tuyub if u do it right they will last up to 3-4 weeks. I did them myself and I’m not a professional.
I agree ❤
You should do a video on filling with the machine.
Would be great .
I suggest The Nail Hub's video on e-filing. She does a GREAT job, plus, she and Suzie are friends who have collaborated on a few videos together. She's a great educator, too.
@@calichef1962 Thank you
Hi i"m from Jamaica and I love watching your videos.
Thank you very much for the tips and recommendations
@@ynaartsasyouliveandbreathe3533 totally true
.. i use it for 3d though.... i dont have access to 3d gel at a decent price here in chile
she mixed gel and acrylic powder in her lace video
i think it’s called something like “mixing gel and acrylic to make lace”
Omg she explains everything so well i love it
I’m learning how to do different types of nail styles, poly gel, builder gel, acrylic beads, and more!! With your Videos!
Your videos are THE BEST on youtube hands down!!!! Thankyou for giving such in depth amazing reviews and tutorials
Alina Pinca : Thank you for the information. 😊
There’s a channel called TheNailHub here on RUclips has a very good video on using forms and getting that c curve. It’s a long video but it’s super educational, I highly recommend it!
Gucci❤Mademoiselle : WOW, 50 minutes. But I’ll watch. Thx
I am so happy that you did a video on polygel and builder gel. I was so confused about the both and I was trying to figure out which one was stronger than the other. I don’t want to keep buying so many different products to reach the result that I really want.
You keep us very entertained while we are at work :) Greetings from California!
Suzie is so relaxing to listen to I love putting these videos on and just hanging out with my cat and a cup of tea ^_^ also is anyone else still waiting for the Jenna Marbles collab because I know I certainly am!!
I’d love to see you do a video with the Ibd gel kit from Sally’s
I’ve been watching your videos all night , you make this look so easy
19:55 SUZIE GURLLLLLLLLL THAT TRANSITION.
This was really educational. ASMR embedded too! Love this!
I LOVE hybrid gel's thickness and ability TO be "backed" up so that I can keep my nails short, but with strength. Builder gel doesn't have the same push.
Thanks a lot for the video! You do such a great job explaining and demonstrating to beginners like me. It’s extremely pleasant to hear you talk.
You should do the milk bath nails! I love watching you make designs with flowers! The milk bath would be amazing for you 😁
brittanyr21 yes please do them here 😊
I agree! I would love to see what you would do with Milk Bath nails
Nice video thanks for sharing. I’ve been using acrylic on myself for years but it takes forever to shape and file the nails. Thanks to my sister who “introduced” me to gel and the so products I bought the drill and the essential items to do it by myself and I’m doing my nails myself saving me time!! And $$$. Love it!
love this thank you! which do you recommend in terms of what is "healthier" for the nail? It would be great to see a hybrid fill/removal 😍
I agree your explanation was great and exactly what I was searching for. You are wonderful darling! So very professional as well. Thank you
Do you ever do just press on nails? I've been doing press on nails for years. I've recently learned that using base coat instead of nail glue , then curing it...they look fabulous ( especially the pre colored nails) and stay firmly on my nails for 3 +weeks
What do you use to cure?
What base coat do you use? is it a gel?
@@kellyfalk1790 I just use whatever base coat you buy at the store that needs uv light
When you remove the nail, is the base coat underneath fully cured?
This was like a whole education on Polygel, I've watched so many videos and wish I found this first! I'm yet another home polygel/ pot gel artist that got into it while quarantining.. and I'm obsessed. I would do a new set every night if I could.
Can we have a video where you do your other hand? I'm always wondering how you do it!

She already maked one video about that. 😉😊
@@Darlinecornelis oh! i'm going to look for it! thanks
My gosh I'm so glad to see so many different people saying the exact words I was thinking of typing. I love it. She really is like my mom sitting down telling me something.
The editing in these videos are amazing 🤩
Also this is perfect for me. A lot of press on nails don’t fit for me because I have big nails. So I’ll be using those techniques on my thumb. I’m sure once I get good I’ll do it on all my nails
I think I would lose my entire mind working with builder gel 😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm also learning. I started with polygel, because it seemed easier. But honestly it's all about finding the right viscosity. I recently bought the ibx system and boost gel. I am in love!!! So easy to get a great Apex, which I have struggled with. And it strengthen s your natural nails!!! Love love love the line
I definitely did. Also it knocked over in my nail container and leaked everywhere. Even with the cap on tight.
I have to the point I went back to nail salon because my nails were coming off after one or two days...lol
But the hybrid is giving me hope to try again.
@@JessandIzzGusington aww Suzy says in multiple videos that gel somehow will always find it's way out of a closed pot even with the lid tight! Atleast it doesn't set
I love your videos. They are so informative and soothing. I learn so much, but for me it's mostly a type of relaxation.
You are the best Suzie great video as always..💖😍💖👍💖💗💖✨
This is an awesome video. I love the compare and contrast format showing the two different products side by side. Also, the music in this video is so beautiful ❤.
STILL CAN'T FIND ANYONE WHO CAN DO FORM NAILS 😤. I WANT IT DONE SO BAD. Might have to come to Canada🇨🇦 to get them done by you, especially if the Raptor win tonite...GO RAPTORS😁🏀⛹️♂️

I LOVE using forms. Can’t stand tips.🙄
@@aalexis5134 The game had me on my toes. I'm so proud of them. I guess that means I'm coming to Canada to celebrate 🤣, and get my nails done 😆😉
@@Shania102938 Majority of the nail salons use rips, but I'm still hopeful to find someone who can do forms really good in the area I live. I don't like wearing tips.
Genuinely a struggle right ??
We have started learning gels this week at school and I LOVE it. The other girls in my glass aren't fond but I think i find the builder gel so quick, so easy, marvellous. The gel french omg sooo much quicker than an acrylic french!
These look so beautiful 😍
But I can’t watch now 😩so not fair
I just did my polygel nails today for the second time. My first application was lovely, but so many of them popped off after a week....watching your video, I've skipped the step to put topcoat down first. Thank you! Even if this set pops off, I'll know better next time. I'm having fun with these. I learn a lot from your videos, thank you!
I recently had my nails done with a builder gel and the tech used a dotting tool, instead of a brush. What do you think about that application? The explanation was that the dotting tool was easier to make the builder flow and with less risk of bubbles.
This is really interesting..I've never heard of that before but I may have to try this! Thanks for sharing!:)
Excellent tutorial. Definitely coming back to you again for more! Thank you ❤️
You are so good at nails
Love the video! I not a nail pro 😉 teaching myself how to use polygel/hybrid. Thanks to you and all the other pros for teaching newbies how to do it!!!!!
I'm so happy u didn't cut that piece out made me smile while learning :)
Thank you Suzie for breaking it down for us newbies! xo
Why do I want her to be my future grandma!!!??? She’s so freaking sweet
Thank you! This helped me decide which to try at home. I will go with the polygel as it seems a little easier to mold and control.
Is there any way to protect nails or prevent them from being damaged from artificial nails?
Baggy Gaby That’s What base coat is for.
I just wanted to say, your voice is so soothing. I could listen to you all day! Much love
I purchased one of the drills you thought was best in your review video and I've been pretty pleased with it. I have to agree with practicing first, especially on yourself so you know exactly what everything feels like. You file your natural nail too much one time and you'll never do that again lol
Hey Suzie I truly believe you are THE best nail tech in the world bar none😊
