    Fun Fact: Several reactors are saying that its exactly like the other camp i.e., burned up. If you watch the documentary, you’ll find out that the Norwegian outpost scene, early in the movie, was one of the last filming sequences because the American outpost and the Norwegian outpost were the same site. So you see it burned up later in the film and then the result early in the film. Save some money.

    Amazing ending in one of the best movies of all time. Seen it 30 times and more. 100% commitment from the cast, incredibly atmospheric. Just love this movie. And now I live in a shack in the woods and when the wind howls it sounds exactly like the atmospherics at the Norwegian base.

    Well, there you have it my friends, this reaction series has officially come to an end after almost a year. I really had a fun time watching these videos. Definitely one of the best reaction complications out there. I would love if you did more reaction complications to classic movies. These videos really deserve more views and attention than they get.

      Technically a team effort between:
      the Producers who believed the story of The Thing was worth making into a movie
      Universal Studios
      John Carpenters vision and talent
      the cast
      the production crew
      the viewers in the 80's who made it popular then
      our reactors reactions on youtube today
      and
      an editor to put all of their hard work together into something that gets even more out of the story
      and
      if no one watched these compilations, they wouldn't have made it to Part 10, so everyone who watched this series played a big part in its creation

    Born in 1981. Saw this the first time with my mom in betamax when I was 11. This was the day after we watched The Exorcist the day before and was still recovering from being scared as shit then watching this made the week sleeping a bit hard. Mom loves horror movies. I appreciated this move more as I got older. Made me miss pratical effects now and then. Glad to see a new generation get exposed to this classic.

    I think it should be said that John Carpenter (initially) considered this ending to be a happy one. Because even though they both died, the ended up saving the world.

    • @fabius1493
      @fabius1493 3 месяца назад

      @maybe.overcompensate tutte le idee dei fan sul finale non hanno alcun credito, Childs ché non emette vapore, la benzina nella bottiglia, la luce in fondo agli occhi, il cappotto da neve di altro colore, Bennings/Cosa prima di essere bruciato fa più fumo di una ciminiera dalla bocca, la condensa non è un fattore di riconoscimento.
      Carpenter è stato chiaro, il finale rimane aperto è lo spettatore ché decide com'è il suo finale.
      In ogni caso sé il prequel è da considerarsi canonico, allora Childs oltre ad avere l'orecchino nel lobo dell'orecchio destro ha anche un dente d'oro, quindi la Cosa non può replicare oggetti esterni al corpo umano, non replica piercing, otturazioni odontoiatriche, protesi e nemmeno tatuaggi, per la logica del prequel Childs è umano e i due superstiti probabilmente moriranno assiderati, decisamente è andata bene per l'umanità ma male per loro.

    • @fabius1493
      @fabius1493 3 месяца назад

      @maybe.overcompensate sé seguiamo la logica del prequel Childs è umano perché ha orecchino e l'otturazione d'oro nell'incisivo, ma sé seguiamo la logica del film di Carpenter, Childs ché si fida a bere dalla stessa bottiglia di Mac dopo tutto quello ché hanno passato, o è incredibilmente fiducioso o sa di non avere nulla da temere perché lui è già la Cosa, ecco perché Mac comincia a ridere amaramente, secondo lui nessuno si sarebbe fidato a bere dalla stessa bottiglia a quel punto, oppure ride perché sa ché comunque saranno morti a breve e c'è voluta la distruzione dell'avamposto e la morte di tutti per avere ritrovato la fiducia del suo ultimo compagno, quindi il finale resta aperto e la Cosa è bellissimo proprio per questo, non poteva esserci miglior finale per un capolavoro simile.
      Sono contento ché un mio concittadino Ennio Morricone abbia legato il suo nome a quello ché per me è il miglior horror fantascientifico di sempre, solo i primi due Aliens riescono a suscitarmi un sentimento di angoscia simile.

    Thanks for the memories!

    Remember when the guy said not to drink or eat after each other. Child’s drank from MacReady’s bottle at the end of the movie. I believe MacReady was testing him. That was the reason why he smiled at Child’s. Child’s was The Thing.
    John Carpenter stated that he wanted to end the movie with the audience wondering who out of the two was The Thing. This is the reason why this movie withstood the test of time. Classic.

      The video game sequel was canon according to Carpenter, but before that there was a series of comics by Dark Horse that continued the story (I believe Carpenter said these were canon too but I guess since the game became canon, these were removed) although they were titled 'The Thing from Another World'. The first two series (6 comics in total) are superb. The third, not so much. Actually, it's bloody awful lol, avoid.

    For those ones who didn´t watch the 2011´s movie after read any note warning that is a bad reboot, just know that the 2011´s movie is not a reboot but a prequel movie. In the script you will know everything that happened on Norwegian Station. The end of the 2011´s movie is directly connected with the beginning of 1982´s movie. A lot of people don´t know about this. Give it a chance and watch it. About the final scene of the 1982´s movie, there is a game released a few years ago that describes who really is infected. Best regards to everyone out there from a nostalgic fan (here at Belo Horizonte City - State of Minas Gerais - Brazil) of this amazing movie (just 8 years old when this cult and classic film was released one week after E.T in the same year). Great part of the public just put its attention on E.T. and didn´t the give the chance for John Carpenter´s masterpiece at that period. Besides a lot of movie theaters had banned "The Thing" from exibition because of the horror. Glad that years after the public and new generations have discovered it and how outstanding and ahead of its the time the script of this great film is placed.

    Anyone notice that Childs didn't have any vapor coming out of his mouth while talking? Obviously not breathing.

      I saw his breath, it's barely visible but it's there. He doesn't have a fire behind him either

    Child’s is a thing because that was a Molotov he drank and his has a different coat. Yea the snow has something to do with its color but it was dark blue at first.

      I've heard this theory. It's up there with the lighting trick on the eyes and the no breath vapor theories.
      Who knows.

      @@MrRezRising I know people say that Childs must be a thing because you don't see his breath but when Bennings was almost finished his transformation and he let out that howl when they caught him you clearly saw his breath. [Edit] Also at 27:29 I think I can BARELY see a hit of Childs' breath.
