2023 Nov 18 Orca J and K pods in Active Pass off Galiano Island BC

  • Part of a superpod of southern resident J, K and L pod orcas today in the Salish Sea. J and K pods travelled east through Active Pass and L pod travelled north up Trincomali Channel.

    Why would 2 active pod get together like that? Does anyone know?

      the southern resident pods, J,K, and L, occasionally get together to form a "superpod", they were all together shortly before I shot this when L pod split off and went another direction. They are quite social animals and will interbreed with the other pods.
