personal fav of mine in my climb up the British tree, was my first afterburning, AAM equipt jet. Probably my only complaints are being dragged into uptiers, and its repair cost being horrible.
Same here, one of the first jets I ever talismaned I think. Don't regret it. That thing grinded most of my British tech tree together with the premium spitfire a tier below (forgot the name sorry)
It keeps its speed so well and you can basically beat any other plane in engine performance. Very fun to fly imo.
Uptiers havent been a big issue for me personally. Max it goes against is 9.7 I believe and while there is a few annoying planes. They are generally being flown by apes so that helps.
Same here, my first jet was the Swift F1 and the F7 was my first afterburner jet, I have great fun playing it, unfortunatly the repair costs are too high.
It's fun but sometimes Firestreak missile are buggy
@fizhbing It helps to toggle off the radar target selection. The lock on messes with the guidance, causing it to turn seemingly at random.
Edit he mentions it in the video that's what I get for commenting before finishing it
@@MrRedisaninja i do follow his instruction by switching off radar still Firestreak messed up, probably my aim is bad.

Not the only plane they've been doing that, *cough cough* F-86 for ... oh wait 10 year anniversary, so for a decade *cough cough*.
Little tip! The f7 does have an airbreak! You can extend the flaps at practically any speed. Doing so will segnificantly slow you down. You can use these as airbreak.
Do keep in mind that unlike most other planes, the f7 turns much less hard with the flaps out. So watch out in a dive. You can use the flaps to slow down so you compress less hard but if you need to pull hard get them back in or you might crash into the ground.
Thanks for the tip on the radar btw, I've been flying the f7 a fair bit lately and the missile randomly flying off has been very annoying. Turning radar off should make it so much more fun to use.
The only problem is when you have more apes in your team than in the opponent.
@@alanamato9382 yeah kinda true but at least it is the kinda plane you can carry with a little bit depending on what you're fighting. Some planes you can't really do much to other then outrun and that's kinda a problem but you do have some options. A g91 for example is fucked I feel like if you don't have teammates as you'll just get attacked by 3 people at once.
To be fair though looking at my stats I have 166 deaths 273 air kills with it and 13 ground. (And I sucked with it at the start, so that might have skewed the early statistics a bit) despite that being pretty good I still have a 50% win rate with it. Would expect that to be higher with those stats.
This might be the first review I've watched where a plane's Pro is also a Con lol. Love your content as always Tim, keep it up!
The takeoff flaps are designed to be the airbrake.
I think locking onto missiles isn't a bug, i heard it somewhere (it appeared to me in a dream)
The devs have a ticket open on it, but haven't responded if its a bug or just an unfortunate side-effect of how the radar range-finders work.

It does great work popping early helis like ballons and can engage ground targets well with it's 30mm not to mention main role of shooting down attack jets like f84 or g91
4:00 i killed a light pillbox with an AIM 9...i fired a missile just before the plane got hit by a team mate and crashed next to the pillbox, my missile kept tracking him and the timming was perfect, pillbox went kabloom...when i saw the kill feed i was like huh?! had to check replay...but yes, i killed a ground target with an air to air i.r. missile!
repair costs especially for british jets are unreasonable with ~12k SL for every stock jet after BR 8.0
Favourite low tier jet so far, good acceleration and those missiles are silly in a head-on
possibly my favourite Jet, my second jet actually. Came back to the game after a long hiatus and realised there was a jet I could research immediately so I did (the F1). Was ok at that, then I got the F7.
My K/D on that is a solid 2.5, maybe not as great as some of you out there. But I'm a guy who kept coming and going, didn't learn too much at the time about flying past having fun casually. This is still my best K/D I think.
So many times I've been accused of hacking with "missiles that shouldn't lock frontally" when I've accepted a head on and launched a missile at the enemy. 10/10 plane, would fly again.
Edit: regarding the Radar, AFAIK a while back there was a shadow buff to the fireflash which gave it SARH capability limited by the gunlaying radar. Used to be really good at directing a missile to a target that's not manuvering too hard, but a skilled player should always take manually directing the missile over letting the radar do it.

The Swift F.7 is an absolutely comedic plane to fly, you fly it knowing that it's kinda bad, but the potential for hilarity with the Fireflashes. (The plane itself is actually pretty capable if you position well and know how to aim the ADENs, but it has almost no dogfighting capability.)
But, the BIG downside: 18k-19k repair cost. Like, HOLY shit. It will... lose SL.
Special note on the flaps that other people usually mention: the takeoff flaps have extremely high rip speed (800-900km/h) and serve more as airbrakes than actual flaps; they hardly help any turning at all, unless at fairly low speeds (sub-500). And the landing runs... I usually just end up skidding and breaking the gear off to stop; it's unbearably long, the brakes have like, no stopping power on this plane.
After the Apex Predator update, can the radar rangefinder now give you a target lead indicator like some other planes?
I recently unlocked the Swift F1 and it's very fun. I usually hate early jets, but not this one.
It's a shockingly late early jet. Newer than the hunters and has tons of ammo.
Thanks for the review, good stuff as always. Just 2 points: 1. The takeoff flaps can be used up to approx 1000 kph! (not 400+ as you state in the landing section). 2. Would be useful to specify how the missiles are guided - do they follow the mouse cursor or do you have to use the keys?
They follow the plane's radar, I go into more detail about missile guidance in my complete guide to air to air missiles.

@@Zw33dDreamZ Works exactly the same. For whatever reason the game doesn't consider if you've turned your radar off with beam-riding missiles.
I've had the radar "track" the Missile onto a firndly that was ~30 degres off my nose rather then the Enemy Jet infront of me. Luckily the missile Missed.
I used to love this Jet... Then came in the Frogfoots... Fucking All Aspects...

It's pretty good once u understand how to use the missiles and after it's literally a SL printing machine even without Premium Time

I would say that the lightning F.53 is a better option, but i would recomend waiting for the sales, because honestly, 60USD for a game veicle just isnt worth it

I think the Swift is a lesson in failed development. At a similar time Dassault were designing the Mirage - idk what the Brits were smoking but clearly they weren't selling it to the French

No. The Mirage wasn't operational for about 7 years later.
Technology moved ridiculously fast in the 50s. Cutting edge fighters would be designed, built and completely scrapped as obsolete in that time.

The fireflash grind is the most painful thing - whoever mounted the guns on the right bottom side of the plane deserves to be shot and everything at its BR is able to both outgun and outmanoeuvre this plane. The muzzle velocity is horrible and even afterburner-less jets can catch it in a flat-out chase. The number of uptiers is insane - it's not uncommon to fight tier IVs such as Lightnings, which will easily kill you and leave you defenseless
