Fantastic! Wow I love your easy laid back approach stunningly clear and tone for days.
The Ibanez p/u has a little more trebley bite at the attack point but the zebra p/u sounds more smooth and warmer.
New SUB. I look forward to future content!

Back in the late 1970s I replaced the PAFs in my 1962 ES335TD with Ibanez Humbuckers - not that much difference - if anything, the Ibanez had better clarity - I recall that both the PAFs and the Ibanez construction was a little different inside, however, they were around the same impedance! I also acquired a single Ibanez Humbucker from a friend and noted that it was constructed exactly the same as a PAF, and apart from the PAF Sticker, one could not tell the difference!

I am sure there are many more labels than there are manufacturers. I always like retelling the tale of the day I opened a new Yamaha acoustic to find in sported a Takamine sticker on the scratchplate!

Thank you for this, you did well! The Gibson set is much more defined/clear and has more sustain, imao. Great choice and an easy swap.

Hi, John. I think one of the main differences between those pick ups is the magnet type. I have two HH guitars with alnico v and ii each one. They sound pretty different, one more dark and velvety and the other more clear and crisp. Ceramic magnets sound even more defined than alnico v. I think it maybe the case with the Ibanez pick ups. Greetings from Chile.

I think flat wound strings are a great choice for every guitar :) I plan to put some flat 11s on my tele, which is not so popular idea either.

It's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison since Gibsons are far more expensive and packing AlNiCo pick-ups and the Ibanez Gio line comes with ceramic ones. The better Ibanez branded pups like the V8 come in their Genesis line on guitars like the RG550. Still, you can get a pretty mean tone out of those little Gios.

I think both pickups sound good! I recently heard some of the Gibson mini humbuckers in a friends Firebird, I so want to convert a LP to these pickups assuming I can get hold of some good looking converter rings, If not I may have to 3D print some in Carbon Fibre Nylon or CNC some in brushed aluminium.

I have the same boat you have on your radiator, with the brass sail and little flag on top. It belonged to my grandfather, where did you get it?

I like both the sweaters. I sort of prefered the Ibanez clean and the Gibsons dirty.

I like both humbuckers. With quality headphones, I hear the Ibenez as more chime (high frequencies) and at low gain more clarity in solos. The Gibson sounded a deeper tone and better for jazz.

No pink sweater, how rude John. The Gibson Humbucker has deff more sustain, you sure the on the last test there was no more effects applied?

No pink sweater but it is my birthday next month so you never know. As for the pick ups, i was careful to set the amp the same for both takes. I used a Jamelo usb mic to record the sound from the Orange amp / speaker.

gibsons somehow louder? they sound hotter but also more harsh. ibanez are way more balanced. depends what you want. more grit for gibsons blues or more polished for ibanez´ shreds^^

The recording volumes are the same for both halves of the video so yes the Gibson is louder.
