I replaced a charging socket for a dell computer as you know on a dell computer there are three ports for the electrical socket one negative one plus 19v and another one for the 3v charger ID and by mistake I connected the 19v to the command of the 3v battery I got confused between the ports and since then the computer stopped charging the battery and even when pressed with the charger it only turns on with A battery that I charged on another computer. I would love to receive an explanation of what exactly happened on the board and how to fix it. Thank you very much. I really appreciate your lessons. Thank you for everything.

      Hi There,
What happen exactly is you inject by mistake 19 volts instead of 3 volts, and because in any circuit we have protection components against the high voltage, one component was blown out (it could be a fuse or a diode or something else ). So inspect visually and using the multimeter all components next of the battery connector in both sides.
      Good luck

Thank you for your video. Can you please make a video where you explain how charging circuit (if BQ charging IC ( made by Texas Instrument is used) works? And also give some troubleshooting hints?
    Thanks a lot

    • @electronicsrepairbasics_erb

Ok of course I Will. For now you can check the ceramic capacitors around the IC, if any of that capacitors is shorted means the IC is bad.
      2. You can check the heat of The IC, if it is not normal means the IC is failed.
