Wow, Vincent’s sound is unparalleled. I love his lines too. And what an ending.
very open not harsh upper register strong and powerful all regisisters in tune
My god, his sound 🔥
Emmet’s gonna need more sound insulation for this one!
I always come back to this to remember how to properly do a cadenza... This was played with great authority and respect to Parker and Cannonball! Thank you, Vincent!
Man... This is awesome. Vincent's got such an amazing and unique sound. Great playing from everybody!
I saw Vincent for the first time in 2019 in our small club in the Netherlands (Nijmegen). He was playing "I Can’t Get Started" (Vernon Duke) as if he was playing for an immense audience. (you will find it on youtube too). What a focus, what a technique! Excellent! He delivers anytime, everywhere.
That's my favourite VH clip - it's incredible! Wish I could have been there ....
when I heard it live I instantly had to check out every version of this tune to appreciate this one even more. Vincent Herring is so godly.
Are there other versions? I can’t seem find any when I search “The Gypsy”
@@karmaz3025 sonny stitt
@@alex_aa_music_ appreciate it
Amazing - Herring always delivers... So recognizable, I think he just keeps getting better and better!
Incredible!! That tone is so beautiful.
What a sound… with just one note out of the horn I can instantly tell it’s Vincent Herring
What a good looking rhythm section
Love Vincent! Impeccable sound.
Joe is so hip 😎
Gorgeous! Yes I certainily hear Bird and Sonny Stitt. Loveeeeee
What a lovely treat the algorithm fed me today. mmm yummy yummy jazz please give me more youtube
^im sorry
Even though I play saxaphone, please give it up for Emmett!!!
This Yamaha Vincent is playing sounds great he's really dialed in the sound! I was worried when he switched from the yanagisawa's he'd played for the majority of his career
Have you any idea about the made of the Bird's sax? Charlie Parker, does it make any sens about you, Maxis.etc..
@@Thouveninpascal Bird would use all different horns but before 1950 he played a naked lady conn, and after 1950 he played a king. For mouthpieces be played a Brillhart Ebolin, Brillhart Tonalin and a Runyon model 22.
I think older horns sound better.
Yamaha and Yanagisawas sound bland and generic next to a vintage Selmer Conn or Buffet.
I think he would sound much better playing one of those.
Just my opinion.
@@JazzLoverKhurram LOL!!! In fact if you listen to early recordings of him he’s playing a mark VI and it sounds considerably worse. Also comparing a vintage conn to vintage selmer is the same as comparing a new Yamaha to a vintage slemer. The sound of vintage American horns compared to the French is entirely different. The concept of sound between them is worlds apart. Also vintage horns truly do not sound better than new horns. It really comes down to the players concept of sound. One of the biggest issues I see when people play new horns is that they are trying to make them sound like old horns rather than finding the actual sound within the new horns.
Jesus Christ, what a cadenza
Wow 7:05 is amazing, Emmet and the band paint exactly the right backdrop for Vincent
Very nice Vincent
yeahhhhhhh
Bellissima musica grazie mille !😃😃😃😃😃
Man, can you imagine if Larry McKenna made an appearece with Emmet!
That needs to happen! Love Larry.
That’s so cool
Going off

Very nice.
This is so good
Just beautiful man damn💯🔥
Wonderful
tremendo pianista, wao
❤️❤️❤️❤️
fantástico
Very Good
A young Legend 🤩
아니 이 좋은 연주에 누가 싫어요를 ...ㅠㅠ
He sounds like Vince Herring.
Vincent! I dig the melodic aspects of his solo and the connection to Cannonball and Bird. It really makes the solo a musical composition. Outstanding!
I just noticed that Vincent uses his C# key for all his G#/Ab's instead of the G# key. Wondering if it's because of the size of his hands makes using the C# more comfortable haha
The no vibrato thing is cool
Was just thinking that!! He uses it sparingly and it's a great sound!
@@FoolishFrankie Old school bebop.
Vibrato is overrated
dat gypsi gonna tell yo future
Farns w the spectacles killing

🔝🔝🔝🤩
cool !
2'21'': 😁😊
Definitely has the Cannon Ball thing down.
he sounds a little like Jackie on this one......
Not a compliment in my book. EDGE
Com on Mann😱 this Sound ist not from earth!
This is Cannonbal Adderley.
He sounds like Phil woods
To me, it sounds like Vincent is constantly screaming through his saxophone. His playing is so beautiful, I just wish he'd play with a bit more sensitivity to the mood of this beautiful ballad.
i think it really goes with this one , more of a personal thing i guess
I agree that using more dynamic variety would enrich his playing in this case; I wonder if he had a hard time hearing himself in the room though
@@lukasalihein it is probable but I think he is playing a high reed strength so I don't think he had a hard time listening to himself. Could be just that but idk .
@@agneyajazz He does tend to play the horn hard
It’s much more palatable live. I went to hear him at Smoke Jazz Club and it really just blows your face off, but in a good way. Over the recording, a high treble lean on the mix is making his volume less desirable.
So Stitty...
Just beautiful man damn💯🔥
