to be fair fable 2 was a pretty decent game and you can tell effort was put into it, fable 3 however felt like it was made because it had to be made. I think the reason a lot of people dont like PM's pre release presentations is they often dont become real in the final game, so in fable 2 the dog was nerfed alot in its features and this scene showed in the demo was never actually in the released game. Other dev's are guilty of similar things tho, in DA3 inquisitions the devs showed a burning village where you had the choice of making it survive or be destroyed and then that would impact the rest of the game, in the released game that entire event was removed and no such option given to the player, similar in bioshock infinite as well.
Yeah but there was usually a very good reason for why content gets cut. It also exists in some way before it got cut. PM was known for making features up on the spot and promising them as already being part of the game
Peter Molyneux believes what he's saying, that's why some of his games *are* great, and some of them are disappointing. But they're all unique experiences, unlike a lot of series today, where they're all the same. No ground is broken, no risks are taken.
100% I miss having people like Peter around. The guy was just way too passionate for his own good but at least he tried to push games in directions they had never reached before. I see his intention, but the way he goes about it is pretty bad. The way you make a game like this accessible for hardcore as well as casual gamers is by designing it in a way so that multiple play styles and styles of combat are possible and viable an there are many ways to do this, from a sort of talent tree-based system to maybe have the way you fight depend on your weapons (kinda like what Guild Wars 2 does) I still enjoyed Fable 2, but for a large part that is because the character customization is pretty decent and just as I did with Fable 1, I enjoyed exploring and hunting for legendaries without using guides.
