The thing about Harlech Castle is the sea used to come right up to the castle walls. All that flat land you see down to the sea is reclaimed. But amazingly all that extra land is made up of land that's fallen into the sea on the east coast. From Yorkshire down to Suffolk and Essex. Get yer head round that lad???

@@jasongoodrich1 it's just the way the tides work around the British isles. The cliffs around Yorkshire are made of sand, erosion at high tide the cliffs fall into the sea. The tides swirl around Great Britain depositing sand on all beaches, making huge dunes in Norfolk and Suffolk. Norfolk and Suffolk are prone to land erosion too. The east coast of GB is always losing villages to the sea going back to the iron age. And somehow the tides deposit it in front of Harlech castle, it's ongoing, there was no Noah.
Just put the castle & beach on my the top of my list for my 2023 Welsh road trip, thanks for the inspiration 👍

well that brought back memories from years ago when we parked on the beach and my sister's Rottie dug behind the rear wheel of their car and it dropped in and we had to ask someone to pull us out. Now I have Viv-i-van campervan I might go back down that way and try to stay on the beach...though the campsite behind the dunes-Blackrouck sands only charges 55 for four days with full hookup. I’m on the beach now , 2/3/23 fecking freezing 🥶,nice weather tomoz 12degrees c ,the barrier is no longer closed at night ,I rolled on last night 8:30 ,it’s currently 2 degrees , full moon and full sky of stars , watching you’re video again ,weather looks nice 👍
Enjoyed that one, Adam. Brings back memories of family holidays. Absolutely pay your entry fee, help keep these places running. What I save on overnight accommodation for 1, I am more than happy to spend with local businesses and entry to attractions. I am having a ball car camping myself - the weather has helped! - thanks to the likes of yourself and Will showing us what can be done, in stealth mode or otherwise.

Those 'tramlines' in Porthmadog are the the railway lines on the Welsh Highland Railway which runs from Porthmadog to Caernarfon via Beddgelert, right under the southern flank of Snowdon - a fantastic journey, worthy of anyone's bucket list.

Beautiful Castle, place ,and even the knarly roads..That 40 degree heat was unbearable,I couldn't even move let alone get in the car ,well needed dip in the old sea at the end though lol
I was going to say similar to vanburger and David Oscar's comments below, so instead i will tell you that the same tide withdrawing back over a mile happened at Thermopylae. The narrow pass is no longer narrow. During WW2 a German officer saw his troops were pinned down behind a rock at Thermopylae and knew they needed to charge to enemy position and so he pulled the pin from a hand grenade and threw it behind them......they charged the enemy gun position!

i spend so much time here and never knew about this beach. i take it tide stays out? you should check out the the blue lake in fairbourne its a great place to wild camp and the views are something else,, you wont be dissapoionted. i myself will sztay on this beach nows i know about it.. thank you.

Nearly stayed but was a bit busy for me so headed in the wilds, got lost but found a good spot for the night 😉

Just done a few nights in the Gower WCamping it’s local to me. About 9pm a 4x4 comes 3miles from Oxwich on the beach into a bay that’s secluded when tide is in. They spent the night and disappeared when the tide went out in the morning 9am Bit risky with the snowflake locals but they seemed to get away with it.

Wow this was brilliant the Castle and those stunning views from the top and what a lovely beach never seen such a large beach with cars on. You have a great setup on the beach with the table and solar panels and BBQ. This is really living the dream what a lovely location to stay overnight. Favourite day of the week Friday with a Wandering Where video to watch and a cup of Coffee and a weekend ahead to go exploring. Enjoy the weekend and stay Stealthy.👍

after crib gich i went to harlech to meet a friend who works at that indian resturant, i went to car camp at harlech beach car park last saturday, eventhou it says no overnigth parking, i counted 12 cars car camping! so i camped to, toilets were open all night
looked a top stop for the night next to beach might go back there at some point

My favourite places to visit. That steep road is a clutch killer haha. You can get around another way. Harlech Castle is cool. Not as good as Conwy, but the views from the top are awesome.
My sister and her tribe just stayed over at black rock beach, said it was awesome. Got another week or so to recover from my opp: and ill be going down to check it out too. We cheated and stayed at hafan y more haven last week. Its a good sight. But you just cant beat the car camping. There's just something about car camping. My mental health gets a good sort out from it, thats for sure.

Those happy days have been staying similar places to you South Wales and now North Wales they tried to stay the night on the beach where you are but we're told it was £1,000 fine if they stay the night. Love the Castle tour.

I second shell island, always camp there, you have to pay but not alot outside school holidays, 450 acres to camp in can find a secluded spot when not busy, toilets, shop and pub on island, just down road from Harlech.
