I love Joshua's reviews - they're always so in depth and detailed and answer all my questions - watching his Z2 review was the reason I bought it last year and looks like I'll be buying a chromecast 2 as well now :D
+MisaelMatute76 yes and no. yes you can connect the Chromecast to the Aux of the radio but remember it needs power so my guess for the car will be get one of those cigarette adapter with USB so you can power it but it may be a lot of cabling
+MisaelMatute76 here I have one of this but still use cables for power www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-TaoTronics-Hands-Free-Microphone-Cancelling/dp/B00RSZWK1W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1444442238&sr=8-2&keywords=bluetooth+speaker+car+adapter
For all those asking whether chromcast audio will work for phone mp3s... it all depends upon what apps get developed for it. For regular chromcast, we have loads of apps now which can stream mp3 music from phone to TV.. All these apps like local cast now need to add support for chromcast audio.. and then u will have it. About RUclips videos playing on speakers ? thats a copyright issue. I guess only subscribers of RUclips red in future will be able to do that.
if you have a monitor with no speakers built in or out put, and you have speakers, can you use the chrome cast and c/ Audi at the same time to make a fully working sound and image showing monitor
OP is incorrect that chromecast audio does not have hi fidelity. Chromecast audio has a mini toslink (digital audio) connection which does connect using the earphone out connection. The audio is very good and when using toslink the ccAudio automatically enabled hi fidelity output.
i have the chromecast video and am planning on getting chromecast audio...I was wondering if it is possible to cast video to the TV while the audio will be casted to the speakers...since it would make for some awesome surround sound
I love the new Chromecast, I use it every day and this new one is so quick, especially with RUclips. The design is great, I just loop it around back on the magnet, I think the puk design was to help dissipate heat
probably because the magnet would interfere with the internal hardware. and you probably only gonna use this function when you disconnect the device. they have thought about it. I guess
The reason why most TVs are 1080p is because there is a limitless difference between 1080p and 4K from a distance but when u get close to a TV u can see a clear difference however at this distance u will damage ur eyes.
Worst thing is, that you have to login to Google Play Music and mandatorily have to deposit your credit card or some payment method. So I brought that CC Audio right back to the store.
You didn't mention the High Dynamic Range option in the Chromecast app. High Dynamic Range boosts the audio quality if you have a AVR- or hifi-system. I have a hifi-system so the audio quality was excellent when I use the HDR.
I just got my chromecast audio last week. Awesome! I hooked it up to my DAC --> tube amp and boy howdy. I can finally kiss that awful buggy apple music app goodbye! And by kiss I mean kick out the bloody window! So simple so easy so good. Thanks Google! Oh and thanks for the video Joshua!
I received mine 2 days ago (the Audio one) and I plugged it on 2 Hifi systems (Cambridge Amp and Speakers in my office and Cambridge Amp and Monitor Audio Speakers in my living room), as you said, nothing crazy about the sound quality but my plan is to buy a DAC from Schiit and use an optical cable... Am I crazy? Is the DAC really going to do the work or I will lose some quality anyway? As I see it, the song played will stay in it's original format until it's decoded by the the DAC...
I don't really understand why he keeps saying "for old devices" when referring to the Chromecast Audio? Hell, I'd use this on a large set of speakers that already have Bluetooth! This appears far more seamless and integrated.
Not only that, it also uses internet and is thus more stable than bluetooth speakers! There really is no reason to exclude newer (maybe already wireless) devices.
I got a 2014 Chromecast and it is a HUGE pain to install because I'm living in China and had to buy a Wifi router that could have a VPN installed in it and it also had to be compatible with Chromecast. Does Chromcast still have these issues?
"2K" Is 1080p rounded up... It's the width of the screen that is the number in front of the "K". *1920* x 1080, 1920 rounded up is 2000, therefore, 2K. This is true for all resolutions, 4K included: *4096* x 2160, 4096 is 4K when rounded down. It sounded like you meant 1080p and 2K as different things seeing as nowadays most TV:s are 1080p and I just wanted to correct things if that was the case.
Edit: I noticed a mistake; 1080 is *not* rounded up to 2K, I said it wrong. I meant that the width of 1080p panels is 2K when rounded up. Sorry, my bad.
Very nice review but there is something you need to correct. You can setup the Chromecasts (any of the reviewed) with any device with a internet browser, using chromecast.com/setup Big fan of the channel!
QUESTION: confirming i can stream all audio from my android device to a chromecast audio? INCLUDING Apple Music?? even though the application itself might not support it? Im stuck with apple music in my region and need to know before making a purchase if this is possible. Im slowly getting rid of everything apple...
Sony has had a bluetooth device in which it can be plugged in to any speaker sound system as long as it is plugged in with the coresponding audio cable for about 20.00
Does Chromecast Audio support the Sirius XM app on my Galaxy s5? I have a older Bose speaker on my first floor that I would love to hook this up to and control from the second floor. My Bluetooth signal does not go far enough and I am looking for a better wireless option.
As much as I like Google, I'll be sticking with the Roku's I already have as I can just pick up a simple remote to use my Roku instead of my phone like say when you get a call, plus as some other's have stated it does not seem like Netflix supports the new Chromecast, and the Chromecast audio needs to be around $20 for the sweet spot price since it can't do video, so too me it does not have much advantage over a cheaper Bluetooth streamer.
IS it possible to plug a (chromecast device whit HDMI) in audio receiver or an audio amplifier in order to transmit a digital signal to a DAC of an audio device??????
So if I use my wired over ear headphones and I took the aux lead out, plugged in the chrome cast audio and plugged the USB end into a power bar, would my headphones be wireless? I personally wouldn't do it, would just be interesting to see if it worked! :)
+Scott Haysom depends if the chromecast will "draw" in power from a regular powerbank. Otherwise if a powerbank has an auto off function when it doesn't detect charging, it might not work
Chromecast Audio works around WiFi, it's much better than Bluetooth dongles. And, Chromecast app works accordingly to which device you're connected to, a regular Chromecast or Chromecast Audio :)
hi i have a question, when I'm using my chromcast 2, when im connected to chromcast and also coonect my Bluetooth head to my mobile the sound is out. is ther any way i can do to connect the sound any Bluetooth speaker or headset ?
"Old speakers"? I have plenty of old speakers. None of them are powered or have a mini headphone jack to them. Guess the Chromecast audio is not for me.
+Mistic DW Your right. I was just trying to make a point about the marketing too. I feel like its more of a device for those who don't want or can't just use Bluetooth.
+Mohsin Sait If the speaker comes with Bluetooth, dont buy this for obvious reasons. But if it doesnt, I really think this option is better than a bluetooth adapter. First of all bluetooth burns battery. Secondly bluetooth has a much more limited range. Third of all bluetooth STREAMS music, so if you get a notification, a phone call, or try to do something else while music is playing the speaker will interrupt the music and play that as well (thats why the chromecast CASTS music instead, although it has the option to stream as well), and lastly bluetooth dongles cant coordinate with each other like chromecast can. Thats why the chromecast audio is superior, especially for parties!
I love Joshua's reviews - they're always so in depth and detailed and answer all my questions - watching his Z2 review was the reason I bought it last year and looks like I'll be buying a chromecast 2 as well now :D
Is the chromecast odd?
So can u plug it in to a car stereo and play music that way? In order to get wify maybe u would get another device's hotspot??..
+MisaelMatute76 yes and no. yes you can connect the Chromecast to the Aux of the radio but remember it needs power so my guess for the car will be get one of those cigarette adapter with USB so you can power it but it may be a lot of cabling
+Emmanuel Reyes Hmm well Im now I'm wondering if theres a device that can do this but with bluetooth instead of wify..
+MisaelMatute76 here I have one of this but still use cables for power www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-TaoTronics-Hands-Free-Microphone-Cancelling/dp/B00RSZWK1W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1444442238&sr=8-2&keywords=bluetooth+speaker+car+adapter
Is the chromecast audio separate from the regular chromecast Kevin
I love how Josh just basically gives us an entire list of chores to do at the end of every video
For all those asking whether chromcast audio will work for phone mp3s... it all depends upon what apps get developed for it. I would like to know that too
anox anny yes
2:40 Josh rocking the Fleksy keyboard, quick typers think alike.

Drniznet101 if you have your tv connected to your speakers then the audio will already come through them
can you stream music from your phone library audio saved on your phone to chromecast audio without any streaming service like spotify?
I love the new Chromecast, I use it every day and this new one is so quick, especially with RUclips. The design is great, I just loop it around back on the magnet, I think the puk design was to help dissipate heat
puck*
Is it worth upgrading from the old Chromecast to the new one?
Why wouldn't they put the magnet on the device itself so you could snap it to the back of the tv (if it had metal somewhere)
thought the same
+Mads Feierskov i think there is a magnet on the back. I think...
Maybe, but it looks like it's on the HDMI cable. It doesn't really matter I'm going to buy it for my 2nd tv anyway, it just seemed odd to me.
Mads Feierskov yeah, that's the exact word he kept using in the review. Odd. It is a bit odd
probably because the magnet would interfere with the internal hardware. and you probably only gonna use this function when you disconnect the device. they have thought about it. I guess
How this two device work together... simultaneously that is the main idea of media room... but you show how it work independently...
Ayyee at 3:22 I saw arkham knight in the stand. Nice. Glad to see a fellow batman fan

Can i screen mirror without losing internet data?
can you cast to both at the same time? For example RUclips?
What keyboard is that at 2:40?
If you are casting from your phone compared to your computer is it going to be a better streaming definition and speed?
So will you be able to use the chrome cast without wifi
I guess this man works all night... Filming at 5 am, respect.
You didn't mention the High Dynamic Range option in the Chromecast app.
High Dynamic Range boosts the audio quality if you have a AVR- or hifi-system.
I have a hifi-system so the audio quality was excellent when I use the HDR.
finally a in-depth review of the new chrome cast line-up. thank you for that. just one more thing. what's up with the sideburns? :p
Whether we will be able to view pdf, or documents using Chromecast?
I just got my chromecast audio last week. Awesome! I hooked it up to my DAC --> tube amp and boy howdy. I can finally kiss that awful buggy apple music app goodbye! And by kiss I mean kick out the bloody window! So simple so easy so good. Thanks Google! Oh and thanks for the video Joshua!
I'm sold on the Chromecast, but what is the significance of the Chromecast Audio...
Is it just me or is the video quality better on chromecast 2? Videos seem a lot sharper.
Can you stream directly from youtube to chromecast audio to get only the audio on your speakers? without mirroring all the device sound
I can stream the entire desktop u mentioned at 6'30"? you mean I could do Word or Excel work by using chromecast to stream it to my tv?
I got a 2014 Chromecast and it is a HUGE pain to install because I'm living in China and had to buy a Wifi router that could have a VPN installed in it and it also had to be compatible with Chromecast. Does Chromcast still have these issues?
the new chromecast connect to the phone directory without Internet or need to connect internet to work ?
Nice Review! Greetings from Friedrichshain, Berlin!
I noticed that the top of it looks like an actual LP. It has grooves like one. I wonder if there is anything on it.
Am I able to link the Chromecast audio and the Chromecast at once for watching Netflix.

Big fan of the channel!
Out of focus :/ When are you going to start to upload in 4K anyway?
Would this work with a studio monitor that only has Rca and 1/4 inch inputs?
Bro can I buy two of the ChromeAudio units and plug into 2 of my portable speakers and have them play at the same time ? HELP
can you stream sound from youtube to chromecast audio ?
+Piotr Wajner You can. Every application with a chromecast button supports it.
Actually you can't, I suspect copyright issues being the main reason.
K- MDN do you own one and tested or you know that from some other source ?
+K- MDN you can do it with old chromecast im sure you can wit this one too
futurenightmare According to ***** , youtube is currently not supported by chromecast audio.
Have a look at the link I provided earlier.
I have 1 mbps speed of internet, will chromcast work to stream 720p content from RUclips and from mobile devices.
Does Chromecast Audio work with youtube videos?
How about digital output of chromecast audio? you mention that its "DAC" aren't as good, but what if you just keep it digital all the way..
I have a question. If I have a Windows 10 laptop with Kodi/Xbmc, can I simply stream my desktop to TV and watch 1080p movies on it????

QUESTION: confirming i can stream all audio from my android device to a chromecast audio? INCLUDING Apple Music?? even though the application itself might not support it? Im stuck with apple music in my region and need to know before making a purchase if this is possible. Im slowly getting rid of everything apple...
"If you have your TV on all the time." What? Why? Who?
Quality vid! Are there any similar device to the chromecast audio that i can use on the beach (other than rocki)? Thanks!
Sony has had a bluetooth device in which it can be plugged in to any speaker sound system as long as it is plugged in with the coresponding audio cable for about 20.00
Chromecast 2 is like iphone7, they both dont have jack
Jajajajajajajajajajajajaja
How many chromecast audios can I sync music to at once?

Does it support multiple devices? Better than BT stereo adapter?
Chromecast audio works awesome in the car!
Does Chromecast Audio support the Sirius XM app on my Galaxy s5? I have a older Bose speaker on my first floor that I would love to hook this up to and control from the second floor. My Bluetooth signal does not go far enough and I am looking for a better wireless option.

IS it possible to plug a (chromecast device whit HDMI) in audio receiver or an audio amplifier in order to transmit a digital signal to a DAC of an audio device??????

No reason it wouldn't work.
+MrHemsleyboy Technically, yes, as long as the Chromecast and phone can connect to the same Wifi network.
your chroome cast has to be connected with a power source. technically you'll be wireless but you'll be connected to wall..
+Scott Haysom still he will be connected with something
+Scott Haysom depends if the chromecast will "draw" in power from a regular powerbank. Otherwise if a powerbank has an auto off function when it doesn't detect charging, it might not work
Can I use Chromecast Audio with an aux cable in my car?
Yes
no. your device and Chromecast audio must be connected to the same WiFi network
+jmahr1127 just use portable router
+Finnish duck and plug it to car charger
Can I use chromecast in my old car? It doesn't have a usb port to charge or power it.
You need a usb port and wifi to use it.
whats the difference of chromecast audio vs a bluetooth dongle with 3.5mm jack? does the chromecast app only works with chromecast audio?
Chromecast Audio works around WiFi, it's much better than Bluetooth dongles. And, Chromecast app works accordingly to which device you're connected to, a regular Chromecast or Chromecast Audio :)
I got my new Chromecast works great.
hi i have a question, when I'm using my chromcast 2, when im connected to chromcast and also coonect my Bluetooth head to my mobile the sound is out. is ther any way i can do to connect the sound any Bluetooth speaker or headset ?

"Old speakers"? I have plenty of old speakers. None of them are powered or have a mini headphone jack to them. Guess the Chromecast audio is not for me.
+repairdrive You can connect it to an Amp, The marketing is just a bit rubbish.
+Mistic DW Your right. I was just trying to make a point about the marketing too. I feel like its more of a device for those who don't want or can't just use Bluetooth.
you could use the Logitech Bluetooth audio adapter, its just 13$ in my country.
+Mohsin Sait If the speaker comes with Bluetooth, dont buy this for obvious reasons. But if it doesnt, I really think this option is better than a bluetooth adapter.
First of all bluetooth burns battery. Secondly bluetooth has a much more limited range. May I know what is the keyboard app he is using?

Thumbs up for the review and thumbs up for choosing a Bill Maher video for streaming, man :)
