Worms can work but it’s not ideal, that worm could get taken by one million other fish that could potentially scare a carp from feeding. Corn, bread, peas, and boillies are what I recommend.
My buddy cought one last year on 10 chaos tackle swim bait while muskie fishing craziest thing I’ve ever seen ate it I front of us thought it was a Muskie at first because we just seen the shadow but I had to hold its mouth open and my buddy pulled the bait out of its mouth

They are opportunistic feeders and well eat almost anything including small fish and that's why you can catch them with lures

I'd say corn is better cuz it is cheap and stays on the hook unlike bread or my idea. Use what u got on hand.

I am in Minnesota and some of these fish I have not caught. I’ve only went fishing in Minnesota once and I’ve only been able to catch sunfish.
