Aaron Dessner produced this record and it’s absolutely, beyond amazing. The lyrics are so hard hitting when you’re a woman and understand how real this is. Thank you for reacting to this exquisite piece of art. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but Taylor wrote “The Vault” songs back when the original albums were released and is releasing them now as an incentive for fans to buy the albums. Crazy how in hindsight the lyrics become much more nuanced and hard to listen to.
I mean if you leave out the “girls go out and have your fun" , it can hurt anyone regardless of the gender! Anyone who has the fear of not being appreciated again, the fear of being forgotten, of being a “second fiddle " that you look up to when the main kick is gone, or of “falling from grace" and the coveted top position can relate. Anyone who has been good at academics in school but when they venture out to make money, and they are looked down upon because of lack of experience, anyone who has been demoted or withheld from promotion because a newer employee just outperformed them can equally relate to it. It's strange how many different interpretation can one make of an art! Great song!

@@swarnadipsinha9352 I definitely it agree with your comment and I don’t mean to invalidate your point, but this song does specifically tailor to the experiences of womanhood and Taylor’s own experience of being a woman in the music industry. The song essentially details the fear of becoming less valuable to society once you’re no longer young and beautiful. This is evident from the fact that Taylor uses “she” throughout the entire song. The song discusses how much of womanhood is only attractive to society when you’re new and fun, when you’re a sparkly jewel to look at. But one you’re colors fade and you get older, you are no longer as intriguing or special, they replace you with the next young girl. Women will reinvent themselves time and time again in hopes of retaining their “worth” while men are more easily able to stay relevant while continuing to do the same thing.

It's very interesting to imagine a 21-year-old Taylor Swift writing this song, anticipating the downfall of her own career once someone younger came along. And statistically, I'd imagine most famous 21 year old female musicians experience a decline as they approach their 30s. This song is clearly about Olivia Rodrigo. There was too many connections for it to just be a coincidence. I know she said these are older songs she kept hidden but I believe she might have tweaked the lyrics to fit what was happening around that time when Olivia was debuting as a singer and was being pegged as the "next Taylor Swift" by media and even fans. She was also a huge Swiftie and cited Taylor as a major musical inspiration and Taylor even wrote / co wrote a song for her on her debut album. I think she legit tweaked Nothing New to fit that situation. She met the girl she's been waiting for. The one the industry would try to use as deem as the next her when she is still an active and mega popular artist. I'm just glad she embraced Olivia instead of being angry at her the same way Madonna was when Lady Gaga premiered and was dubbed the new Madonna. Taylor clearly saw that and was like "nope! I'm gonna embrace this new girl and help guide her in any little way I can". I love that
Like some people are suggesting, reacting to the whole RED TV album is not realistic... but you could listen to more tracks from there. I feel like there are quite a few that you would really enjoy. State of Grace, Treacherous, The Lucky One, Holy Ground or Sad Beautiful Tragic are some of my personal faves

you need to listen to the albummmmm, it's so good
This song is clearly about Olivia Rodrigo. I love that
can we please get a 'dear john' reaction?

PLEASE react to stranger in the alps by phoebe bridgers!!!
4:38 he's really laughing at my pain 🥲 "i'll say i'm happy for her then i'll cry myself to sleep"
I forgot The Moment I Knew or Come Back... Be Here. What an album and I didn't even mention songs from the Vault 😂
