- I get to be around and drive some of the greatest custom builds on the planet, most of which are completely over the top in design, execution and cost. This is a different beast. The owner wanted to build a car that looked stock and original but had some obvious performance mods to make it a more enjoyable drive.
Galpin Auto Sports took this Chevelle and made it an incredible driving car. Looking at it you would swear it's stock but when you drive it you know it's better. By a long shot. Hotchkiss suspension. 4 wheel disc brakes. 396 swapped to a 454. 3 speed auto changed to a 4 speed auto with overdrive. Bench seat swapped for OEM buckets.
Come take a ride with me and check out the details of this beautiful 1969 Chevelle restored and upgraded by the guys at Galpin Auto Sports.

Cool feature, legit is daily driver, brings me back to when I owned a 1967 SS350 Camaro!! 👊💯👊
Galpin did a great job with this car. The color combo alone makes it cool and then you drive it. Very cool simple build.
the smooth idle is the best definition of a sleeper
Love the 69 Chevelle. I’ve always wanted one my dad had one. The only thing I would change is put the chrome strip across the middle of the grille.
69 Chevelles were nice smooth riding cars straight from the factory.
Bro I love your attitude towards the old cars. They are meant to be driven I think some people forget that a car doesn't have to be perfect. In my opinion half of the adventure and emotion is in the build. I'm a new subscriber and I just want to say man youre doing a great job keep up the good work
The console with the D circled is a nice touch.
Beautiful car... And its a highway cruiser.. And not a trailer queen.
Nice ride. I work down the street from G.A.S. and we also happen to work on Galpin's bay doors/gate access systems. I'm always glancing at what's in the parking lot when I drive by. Hoping to see one of the new Ford GT's being delivered or serviced.
They’re cool guys and I think they do great work.
Nice...just how I like them, American Muscle but nicely refined and you don't have to re mortgage the house, only thing I'd change is the white wheels for silver or polished but keeping with the rally style, it's only a personal thing. Thanks for sharing Shaun another great video 👍😎
Man I love white/black cars with red guts
Such a great color combo!
Example of a perfect old skool
As Beck says”that was a pretty good drum brake”..
Chevelle’s were body over frame cars though... not unibody.
Thanks for the correction. Didn't remember referring to it as a unibody. My mistake.
AutotopiaLA Driving too many Camaros lol
I noticed that to.
Nice
My first was a 70.... Loved it
Great car love the look and colour combo. Always liked these and that will sell quickly. Shawn you will flip it easy
I think it should be fairly easy to sell. It's a great car and priced really right. And I agree with you on the color combo. Love the white on red and it's on the original build sheet as such.
That's really a great DRIVER. 😎👍🇺🇸
White with red guts looks nice.
Tim Friar Killer color combo. This is such a cool, simple car that drives incredibly well.
I watched a video of yours yesterday and you had 9.7k subscribers, today you have 10k. On the come up!
Love to see the torsion bars keeps talking about
I'm waitin' too...
This definitely isn't a Mopar.
I honestly watch these videos just to listen to these guys have verbal diarrhea about the cars. I love to hear the owners talk up there cars they bought. They absolutely have no idea what there talking about.
That big red light next to the gas gauge is your first clue. Being old skool , see how I blended school and cool for you? Back to being old school and, the giant 1960's gm gas gauge. That huge e stands for empty. The added red light next to the e means something....
Beautiful car
Love the wheels
Woow nice wheel white color so sweet
i really enjoy your channel. cool and laid back. much success
Thank you so much. Truly appreciate the support and compliments.
If this Chevelle was black with a set of American racing wheels, would sell very fast! I like the car, but I don't' like the paint job! Good Video
Hey Nik...I still think it should sell pretty quickly. The white on red is such a traditional color combo for this car. I love the idea of black on red too but I really think this looks incredible. And I love that he went with the "steely" 17" wheels.
@@AutotopiaLA curoius, did chevelles ever come with body color steelie's? I think that was more of a mopar thing - could be wrong? maybe the copo's?
NICE CAR!! Really like wheel & tire set-up!!! Are they 16" inch made?. Look like it. The only thing I might of changed ?,would be that vinyl roof. Paint it white or black. It's COOL!!!
the main reason drums went to disc is wet weather. drums work great in dry weather but water they dont. however drums will last forever.
You made my siri make a call during this video! LoL
That’s awesome!!
You keep the stronger TH400 and install a Gear Vendors over/under drive.
This car is very nice
i so prefer something like this over the big 1000 hp caged out racing seat cars.
Put custom 12 inch wide rally wheels and lower it down, make it look mean! You went that far , complete the job!
Agreed!!
Drums flex ,flare and brake.
Y love it the sleeper
Beauty car, not really what I would classify as a sleeper though.
Compared to a lot of what we shoot it’s very sleeper to me. Still completely old school and not massive power. Beautiful car
Beautiful Car ! 👍👍👍
Simply fuckin rad!
Yes! It’s just found a new home too. Stoked for the new owner!
yay! you kept your word!
ford f1 next? 🤗
Glad you liked it! I'm editing the Tuesday video now. It's a C63 wide body making 680 hp at the rear wheels! Total beast of a car.
nice can’t wait! my buddy has a twin turbo c63 those car are amazing!
Beautiful car man and for that I've now subscribed to you're channel.
Thanks for the sub and you’ll find some amazing cars on our channel. Pretty lucky to get the access I do.
That's like the Ford Capri sold in the UK.
Needs wider rear meats...
My 69 has similar suspension mods, when done right they do drive real nice.
This one doesn’t make enough power to require bigger tires. Great driver
My 66 impala handles great in stock suspension form it has a 454 out of who knows what. This big boat hauls ass and hugs the road great. Not sure why it rides so nice. But it does. Interior sucks though. But the driving mechanics go tight and right.
Fantástico, carro espetacular
Maybe I’m wrong but I thought chevelles had frames and four wheel coil suspension under them. Novas were unibody with leaf spring rears correct?
your correct
yeah all gm a bodys are full frame coil spring cars. no unibody no leafs or torsion bars. i appreciate the cars but the host sometimes doesnt know his stuff on this channel.
I have a question for all. Why hasnt GM\CHEVY havnt remade the classics like dodge? I dont get it
Good question...GM??
What about the Camaro?
Yes, full frame car, not a unibody. Also no torsion bars!
Correction taken. Constantly learning. No end to it.
This car is🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Shawn, sorry but a 69 Chevelle IS NOT A UNIBODY.! It has a full frame. I should know, I have a 69 Chevelle Malibu. Owned it for 38 years. I'm the 3rd owner. Had a 307, 2brl carb, 2spd power glide transmission, 4 wheel drum brakes, manual steering. Changed to front disc brakes, 350 4 bolt main mild built engine and 350 trans, 3.08 rear stock gear. Time to change to a 327 engine, higher reving more power build in near future, and upgrade the rear end. The 4 coil , all stock suspension isn't bouncy as you say, but the bench seat needs to be upgraded to a more comfortable buckets. Driving it 14 hrs from Michigan to the Smokey Mtns. On a vacation was brutal on the back.! Lol. Mine is a driver, it has 156,000 miles on the car itself, about 37,000 miles on the motor and trans. It has parking lot dents and the Bodywork I did 36 years ago is coming through. But, I still get a 👍 up whenever I drive it., I'd love to do a complete makeover on it , but don't have the $100,000 figures most of your owners have . I know a guy who has a 69 Charger, spent $65k on restoration and now is afraid to drive it.! For fear he might get a stone chip in his $25000 paint job.!" That's not me.!
I wish you would hook me up with my 73 Nova hatchback..... Love your Channel...
To put on our channel? Send me some pics and details. And thanks for the comment. I appreciate the support as we're trying to grow this into one of the bigger and better car channels out there.
You should be , you should be
Chevelle’s don’t have torsion bars. they have sway bars. Its a full Chassis A-Body.
9-10 inch drum brakes suck. Get in my 67 Buick with 12 inchers all-around and I apologize in advance for the seatbelt marks.
So your friend had the car built and is just gonna sell it right away without taking possession of it or driving it himself?
Crazy right?!?! It’s such a cool car.
@@AutotopiaLA - Yes it is. At least take it for a nice cruise up the California coast first. LOL
👊
Is the verie cool the cheveĺle is one motors 454 ls one superchager hummm y love it
Will Hayden on work release
Why would they make '69 look like a '68... Would have been a lot easier to start with a '68...
Beautiful build tho.
Owners preference. Nice build though.
Nothing on this is 68.
I own my 69 since 1983. I know it inside out, upside down and every other wsy you can imagine.
nice car, but the rims should not be white ;-)
How is a Chevelle SS with obviously much larger than stock steel wheels a sleeper?
An LS powered Chevette ...that would be a sleeper.
I just meant for the most part the car looks and is original. Not one of the big power vehicles we profile usually.
this isn't a sleeper at all! its just a 454 with upgraded suspension and a 700r4 transmission lol. a real sleeper would be rear mounted turbos or an ls made to look like a carbed small block with a hidden nitrous kit.
Brian Lutzak I suppose. I just meant in the sense that it looks all original but the upgrades are great driver mods. I get what you mean.
He should know that is not a unibody
That’s more of a nice cruiser not a sleeper.
69 chevelle is a full frame car. Not a uni-body
Yeee is the slippeur look stok in france is thé big big motors exemple one e30 BMW one motors M3 e90 is the look stok ho is the big bomb
A SS 396 Chevelle is not a sleeper.
I hear you but one that looks stock is to me. Love the car but total sleeper to me vs the loud, flared, big hp Chevelle out there
Pretty but kinda screwed up IMO
I don't dig the automatic chevelle.....
Rims make it look like shit
Eehhh... I know I’m a dick but that just looks like bolt ons and a paint job
Far from it. Mostly a restoration with some interesting upgrades for driveablility. Wasn’t meant to be a custom.
You have my absolute dream job! How could I ever achieve your level? I can pick out any car and year, knowing the motor/trans options. I can pick out cars at night by the headlights... I don't want to paint them anymore- how do I get to play daily with my dream cars???
