VERY IMPORTANT: I was incorrect, the guys at r/Monero let me know that this is actually a more secure Hot Wallet, not a "dedicated air-gapped device" like what I said in the video. Check out the thread for the most up to date information here: www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/177thwm/i_built_my_own_monero_hardware_wallet_with/ Also, a more secure way to do this is to generate a wallet seed with the networking disconnected. That would be optimal.

2:26 I am worried about "500 level dark wizard supply chain hardware backdoors" 5:53 proceeds to use windows for flashing the iso because "Linux too hard" (I know that this is a VM, but that doesn't change anything + it's your personal machine judging from the files)
it isn’t just a vm… It’s a windows vm running inside of a debian vm running inside of a qubesOS instance hosted on a 1984 server (payed for with mined monero), which I ssh into remotely from a burner laptop I bought on craigslist with counterfeit money (only ever handled with fingerprintless gloves) which was purchased off the dark web with silent-crypto-miner botnet ravencoin. Also, those “personal files” are fakes autogenerated with an LLM I wrote myself, in a programming language written by me personally (based on javascript), to mitigate deobfuscation of my operation selling kidnapped / stray dog feet pics to furries on deviant art.
@@NickTheHuman crazy that you actually wrote all that 🤣 p.s. basing your custom programming language on JS is a rookie mistake. Only use Rust cause it's memory safe

I missed the point where you installed your feather wallet on your large SSD. It appeared to me that you installed the wallet on your 16Gb tails flash drive. What was the point of the 1Tb SSD?
good catch, I used a vid from something else for that part. you can put tails on the external ssd just as well. The point is: having enough storage space and speed to host the monero blockchain locally, which is THE way to do it if you actually value the project and it’s philosophy. Also, it’s the safest option for interacting with the network. it’s 100+ gb and increasing every day.
@@umalivealeatoria5474 Not better, not worse. I like feather wallet, but also like the GUI. Reason I don't go with GUI sometimes is because it's "heavier" (lol) and on lower end computers can be annoying imo. Either is ok tho
idk what part of the vid ur referencing specifically; but generally in regard to zero-sum adversarial conflicts, defense-in-depth (layered stacking of defensive measures) is correlated with desirable outcomes historically from the perspective of the defender. This truth can also be applied with great success to systems / operations you wish to protect from adversaries within the digital battlescape.
@@NickTheHuman Understood, the emphasis on defense-in-depth highlights the importance of multi-layered security. However, if the Monero wallet 11:43 itself is a vulnerability within Tailwind OS, it makes me question the overall efficacy of surrounding it with extensive security measures. Essentially, doesn’t a vulnerable core compromise the integrity of the entire system, despite the layered defenses?
@@aijokker What you say is true, however: There's a good graph that displays an exponential curve, where as you increase security of a system, usability goes down, until you have the most secure, least usable security protocol. Every system is going to be vulnerable in some way, shape or form; you just have to calculate the amount of risk you are willing to incur. In the pinned comment, I linked the reddit post for this video: Go there if you wish to see the hyper-secure airgapped methodology. Definitely worth it for large sums of crypto, but way less usable
Only stuff in persistent storage stays on your flash drive, all else goes away. I also think you can do the same with password manager just get one that won't get hacked like lastpass
