I’ve seen this happen in California. It’s terrible that these business owners are about to completely lose the livelihood and ability to care for their families. The businesses need to ban together and meet collectively.

I've lived here 24 years and this is way over due. This is the second longest interstate highway in the US and to have 6 lanes for miles, is completely outdated and inefficient for a city this size and for all the commerce and goods that flow from Mexico all the way up to Canada.

@@Jay-mb5vr have you been to Houston lately? Highway expansion doesn't help anyone besides the contractor building the highway.

@@lfeb Drive thru it often, and it's WAY better than 10 years ago...they actually have City Planners at City Hall, not Woke, Social Justice Warriors.

@@lfeb so what are you going to do ride a bike to work? If that's what YOU would like today that's fine, but I drive for a living from Georgetown to San Marcos every day and 35 needs to be fixed, as it was a bad design through Austin to begin with. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Had the City Council(s) spent their money to buy the right-of-ways that they KNEW were eventually need to expand (I-35 thru central Austin) for 25 years, instead of useless Taj Mahals like City Hall, Library, throwing away money on trains that nobody rides, the traffic would be much better (expand I-35 over time), and these businesses would have been long gone, payed fair market value of the time (probably much cheaper 15 years ago) when the right of way is "eminent domain-ed". Now the bill is due, and they throw up their arms and say, poor me.
