There is SO much un-recognized engineering and science involved in building a road like this. It's incredibly amazing how people come together to accomplish such a feat. The common person will never know the miracle.
Took a road trip to Texas for the first time from New England about a month ago, amazed on how their highway infrastructure is so different compared to I-95 on the east coast. When I drove through Austin, I was caught in the middle of rush hour, the flow of traffic was so mesmerizing I tolerated it alot more than NYC/Boston traffic.
Only Texas interstates have service roads. The frontage road from Hillsboro south to Elm Mott, South Waco to North Austin were 1950s US 81 until the interstate in the 1970s.
This trip use to be a highly stressful drive when 35E was a two lane road. I still loved the drive, but now the trip is so much more fun. Except, at times, I'll break off onto 77 and enjoy the Texas countryside. Great video, I'm going to leave it running as I go about my other deskwork.
MM 430 from Hampton, MM 400 outside Waxahachie, MM 370 at the 35E/35W road fork.. 35E the priority interstate keeps I-35 mileage up from Laredo. 35W has its own mileage.
You did it in pretty good time. Now that all of the widening work from Hillsboro all the way through Waco and Temple is done, it's a pretty smooth journey at around 80mph.
Thanks for letting us ride along with you, by the way what kind of vehicle are we riding in? Plus I enjoy the natural sounds, I am grateful you don't add music to the video ride. 😊
Bro I can't be laughing at how big our state is. It took you almost 3 hours to drive almost all of Texas LMAO. I remember going to San Antonio in 2019 and on the map, it may not look so bad, but in an objective life perspective, it's a considerable distance.
3 hours is nothing in Texas. He definitely did not drive almost all of it. For instance, if you wanted to drive from Houston to El Paso on the Trans-Pecos's border with New Mexico, it's over a 10 hour drive without stopping and even though Houston is on the Gulf, there are cities that go further that that. For instance, Texarkana, on the far northeast corner bordering Arkansas, to El Paso is over a 12 hour drive without stopping and over 800 miles.
@2:27:48 this is the exit to the home I grew up in Round Rock. There is always a traffic jam at this area even though they tried to reconfigure the lanes and ramps ahead.
I love Texas so much. Greetings from Fort Worth, Texas to my entire beautiful state of Texas. Driving videos are so relaxing.....

This looks like a nice 2 hour trip from downtown Dallas TX to downtown Austin TX along interstate 35 South

I'm a fan of those Texas frontage roads

Abbott: Willie Nelson's hometown. West the perfect road trip stop!
In the 1970s, US 77/81 shields were mounted alongside the I-35 shield. 81 now gone.
Belton: I-14. New interstate planned to extend west along US 190 to Midland, east along US 190 to Bryan, Huntsville and Louisiana.
Pretty fast drive from you, Mike! Glad to see all of this construction done...

77 from Sterrett through Waxahachie and Hillsboro more scenic than 35E!
Originally 4 lanes from Loop 12 to Waxahachie. Now 8 lanes....

In the 1970s, outside Dallas, the road and route signs were posted off the shoulder.
45 south from Dallas to Streetman (Navarro/Freestone Co line) re-engineered to 6 lanes
You did it in pretty good time. Now that all of the widening work from Hillsboro all the way through Waco and Temple is done, it's a pretty smooth journey at around 80mph.
Yep it's at least 6 lanes from Dallas to San Antonio
I’ll say it felt longer to drive than it actually was.
Nice ride on I 35 South from Downtown Dallas to Downtown Austin
35E from 30 through Oak Cliff to 67 wide, beautifully re-engineered!
Freeway used to be two lanes per way until the grassy median was mostly removed to add the third lane, besides removing cable barriers.

Kia forte
Austin has really grown man

Considering how bad Austin traffic can be, you got through the city pretty darn quick
I always felt like Texas had the most impressive freeway infrastructure.
Definitely
35E through Oak Cliff finally surpassed 35W through South Ft. Worth!
You should do Chisholm Trail Parkway Toll road From Burleson Texas to fort worth Texas
😂😂😂 the Austin gf highway 35 bridge is funny
Im in htown and it take 2hr & 30mins to make it to Austin going 290 west and I-45 north 3hr$30 mins from houston to dallas i love my state ❤️
It took 2 hours to get from Dallas to Austin

TBH, where do you keep such massive video files after recording and before uploading (must be >200GB of data)?
I usually delete the edited videos after uploading them and keep the original recordings on hard drives and cloud backups.
How TF did they manage to get most of a 100+ mile stretch of I-35 out of Dallas to Waco in the same prestine condition at the same time. How sway
Is a steel😂😂😂😂
Nice!! I’m from Texas but fuck Waco that whole county. Indeed my ex fiance lives there still bad place
To be lol but that’s just me
