I know I’m late but I have a b8 with an aftermarket head unit. The problem now is my OEM display won’t turn on so I thought about hiding it with an iPad but now I have hope since seen this! Do you think I can connect my iPad as my OEM interface and still keep my aftermarket unit? Hope you can get back to me 🙏🏽🤦🏽♂️
If you can connect the iPad to the aftermarket unit AUX input and get the audio to work you can use the iPad like CarPlay I recommend buying old iPad 3 iOS firmware 9.3.5 with the 30 pin connector on they go for $30-$50 on eBay and can be jailbroken
@@hponce100 well I’ve got the new M1 iPad Pro and just bought two magnetic mounts and placed them where you’ve put your top iPad, it covers where the radio is and I just use Bluetooth, and use apple maps, totally transformed the look of the car almost like a Tesla.
@@joegarven5591 that’s awesome now you will notice that you still have to slide to unlock and scroll pages with small icons not user friendly when driving that’s why I made them to look and function better than the OEM radio and when I start the car iPads unlock auto connect to my iPhone hotspot and Spotify play track Siri announce the song playing plus display the song name and album cover and the other iPad opens Waze for navigation and when I turn off the car the iPads stop playing and screen locks

For the radio I had to customize the firmware with a couple of tweak from Cydia if you iPad it’s jailbroken you will need to install and know how to use iWidgetTapper, Springtomize, Activator. And the odometer with Nav it’s a app DashSketch. Let me know if you need help

hi harry i am trying to fit a samsung 2016 tab 10.1 inch into my audi a4 b8 2011 i plan to fit it in front of the mmi display but that covers the radio stations so i checked out the app obd fusion but it didnt show what you have, which is what i want, is that the app you are using to show the audi radio ,what obd would you recommend and would i be better off buying an old ipad for this, any help would be great thanks
I had to jailbreak the iPads and customized the SpringBoard to have the Audi oem radio it’s not a app it’s a custom iOS with a lot of tweaks that make the iPads look and function better than the outdated audi oem radio like if I click Music it will open Spotify and Nav will open Maps app Tel opens FaceTime and a lot more cool features. I did all the work and programming my self u can ask me anything
