Here are two ways to help further better your tank's building process: 1. Use powered gears instead of powered wheels, this helps with any friction issue with the tank being slow and the tank's treads cannot slip. I have found the gear grabs on to the inside of the treads and pulls it along rather than using friction. 2. Tension the treads with winches and a wood block. Doing this can be a little finicky and may require some adjustment but once you have the block in the right spot and set the rope winches to automatic and on the fastest setting, you treads will automatically tension without being too tight or loose. Love your video!
12:30 the reason why it turns so slow is actually because the armor plates on the tracks have a lot of friction on the floor(removing that armor actually removes that friction). also, the pistons are not strong enough to give this kind of tank too much tension because the treads are too strong to break. if anything, the pistons putting tension on the treads of this tank makes this tank work to it's best ability. i really liked the video though, i wish this video was uploaded years ago when i was making my first tank.
I connected the pistons with a bracer on each side of the pistons, fixing the slow turning problem. Yes, it has to do with tension but it's also because of how the tank thread does not align with the other one. If You're confused what I'm trying to say, build the tank the same way I did and look from the top. Then add bracers to them and you'll see it does make a difference. You're also right about the chain putting the pistons under pressure, that was my fault. I should have made the chain a bit more longer
Mine didn't work at first, but with a little tinkering it worked, and they are awesome!! Thank you so much, this was such a great help. Underrated channel. I'm on Xbox btw and advanced building is on Xbox, just press Y. 😁

Great tutorial. for tank 1 I found it's more convenient to have toggle mode disabled on the pistons, and a not gate with your piston extension key (h) for input and output, and then set the logic gate to toggle mode. if the logic gate gets destroyed then the pistons will automatically contract, but that is a fair price for the convenience of automatically extending pistons
Since I'm not pressing H when I start the simulation, the not gate will instantly activate and extend the pistons for me. Pistons can be toggled but they don't have an option to start extended unless you build them extended which obviously would defeat the purpose of tensioning the treads.
@@matthewgoodman434 why not just add a timer with 0 waiting time and 0.1 seconds where it presses the H button once. All you need to do is set it on automatic and make sure it's not on loop. Turn the toggle mode of the piston on as well and there we go, finished
@@GeReapeters oh good idea! So far I've only played with logic gates so that was the first thing I thought of. I had programmed a tank control car with only one forward input on each wheel, but the control setup you showed in this video blew me away with how much simpler it can be done xD Thanks for your help!
Idk which button it was, but if you just select one block, you can de-select it by clicking anywhere else besides other blocks But if it's a grouped select, you just click on the ones that you don't want again
You need advanced building turned on, otherwise you can't. If you do you gotta click the button where you can move your machine, right underneath it will be 4 other buttons you can click. One of them is duplication
@@AshWilliams1234 it's as setting that you can turn on. I don't if Xbox has that but if it does, do turn it on so you can do the tank threads like I did in this video

Tension with winches?
@@albertogiavani75 Yes, the winches set to max strength work like an active tension system and does not pull to hard or soft on the treads.
Thanks lots man, not only did you teach me how to make tracks, but some other things as well. Like how to turn the vehicle without hinges and whatnot.

Whats the not gate for? Pistons already have a toggle mode so I don't quite follow why you need one

How to rotate the hinges
You can either press on f or r while you place them or you can use the rotation tool up in the UI
This is probably a dumb question, but when u select blocks to duplicate, how do u unselect blocks u dont wanna duplicate?

@GeReapeters i figured it out. I had to hold shift and left click but thanks
probably yes
What is this software, and what is it used for ? Very interesting stuff
It's Besiege, and it's mostly used to simulate vehicles
How did u duplicate the objects u have selected when building things?!

what mods shuold i use for building?
Use the no limit mod so you can make wheels faster or canons much stronger. And get the enhanced block thingy aswell
