Anyhoo, thanks for the review GT, sucks you have to deal with the sludge so we don't have to, but we appreciate it.
On a brighter note, your Dungeons of Eternity video with Matt convinced me I might as well get it now, and I had so much fun the first day, my axe arm got sore and now I can't play for a few days lol. Can't wait to try it in multiplayer, it's a blast even doing runs solo as a low level scrub.

I have to agree unfortunately...was really looking forward to this game but it was very flat and lifeless. It looked like something I'd have played on my Oculus Go. Wanted to like it but ended up refunding
FUN FACT. Years ago you would have sold your child to play a game like that in VR, and on a standalone headset.
Whatever you think of the game, it is a one of a kind experience, and isn't that what VR is all about? and whether it's something people want to play or not, only time will tell.
I feel so bad for the Devs who puts MONTHS worth of hard work into a game just for it to be called the Worst Of The Year 😂

Unfortunately a lot of VR games and especially on Meta's store are overpriced.

25% for basically EVERY game with a code and sometimes 30% If the code Meta 30 is active is pretty decent IMO.
But lately games cost 30 bucks instead of 20 which is a shame...
It could be better but Its not the worst. If its not your thing just move to another game.

This is one that I really hoped would be good. I didn't expect it to be like Green Hell or Smoke in the Shadows, but it sounds like a lazy port of the flat version.
I'd much rather have ports of the full games rather than these wierd one offs in VR
Yikes this has not ported well! Loses any intuitive controls you get on the pancake version even with all these tactile opportunities that vr has to offer, what a shame. Sounds like you got chucked into a passive world too, standard game let’s you choose aggressive enemies and losing your gear on death etc. that sword waggle though 😂 oh man. Damn shame. Great and honest review man thank you 🙏

Sad to say it but sometimes you need to call a turd a turd. Regardless of how people want to hear it, you probably just saved some kid their pocket money, or some old dude who doesn't get much VR time. I was looking at it also and I'm glad you called it out, because at least I dodged the Bullet.

Was that this year? If so this is worse yes. The developers made conscious choices in Stranger things and it had minor redeeming qualities. Fans of the show may of enjoyed it.

I think they need to make a specific catergory for this type of game so people who wouldnt touch it (like with visual novels) dont and studios avoid the hate. I wouldnt call these walking simulators either. cause these seem to be made for the role players which even tho exists in flat, would make much more sense in vr. (im not one of those)
So a category for crappily made games? I think most people understand genre by now and know if a type of game isn't for them. What people want to know is if a game is a good example of that genre.
While I can agree the combat system needs some serious work, and the UI and graphics could use some touching up. You mentioned nothing about the basebuilding and crafting system which is a major part of the game. Having to open the inventory every time to place an item was incorrect, there is a ring at your belt line you drop the items in...did you sleep through the tutorial? Once agian you've proven that anything more complex than pulling a trigger on a virtual gun is over your head..

I think that's what people hoped it might feel like - that said, Grounded itself is very CPU heavy and not well optimised, so I think they'd struggle to make a VR version without seriously stripping it back for the sake of the framerate.

Just from a glance, this has got to (hopefully) be some poor kid's first attempt at VR game dev. If so, great job! Now, go do it all over again, but better... much, much better. Lather, rinse & repeat until you've got a proper game. [It may be dreadful, but at least they tried to make *something*, eh?]

I thought he summed it up pretty good. There is not much to the game, can't elaborate on something that doesn't exist. It doesn't look good the game mechanics are not good for VR. They half assed the port.
Appreciate your viewpoint. You could be right and it would also help the video grow due to watch time, however, when I script my thoughts anything else I need to say would simply be filler, and that’s not my goal. My goal is deliver my point of view and my thoughts. Theres not many game reviews I post that are under 5 minutes.
Told me everything I needed to know. If a game has nothing much to it and the mechanics are shallow as a puddle there's not much else to say.
There's not even one single skibidi toilet in the game either!
