they went too safe with the Force Awakens, but that was because this was the first Disney/Lucasfilm Star Wars movie, and with Rogue One and the Anthology films in general, I think it's a step in the Right Direction
Williams is a master. This whole track tells the story. Even without the movie it communicates fighting the empire and escaping into the dangerous asteroid field ending with temporary safety

Pretty sure we don't need 4 STAR WARS EPISODES WHERE EVERYONE GIRL IS OP to let us know every future woman will be a Mary Sue. Enough of Kathleen Kennedy please. I want something where it's dofficult, and people have to actually do something for once and not have to look to a Mary Sue. And don't get me started on L-3. A droids rights activist is not wanted in Star Wars. Earthly politics are supposed to stay out of the franchise. We don't need any feminism, more than two genders (even though there are only 2), making MEN WHO WERE STRAIGHT IN THE OT PANSEXUAL, and I also don't like how we have another Rose character. "The enemy who wore that mask trying to steal the coaxium for a better cause" cliche. It's an ok movie, but the movie decisions made me want to scream in anger sometimes.

I love the Imperial March with all my heart, but I have to say that this piece is more emotional and inspiring than any. The crescendo starting at 2:57 gives me the tingles everytime.
With these classic soundtracks, you could close your eyes and know what was happening in the movie. Nowdays, music isn't as memorable and is too hidden in the background for my taste.
The traditional approach to film scoring is / was to fit the music to the scene, changing mood, tempo, rhythm, key, etc. to match the imagery. Whereas the modern approach (Hans Zimmer et al) is to write through the scene, as though the soundtrack is made up of songs with each cue maintaining the same rhythm mood, etc. throughout. This latter approach seems to suit modern filmmaking better, unfortunately. Danny Elfman's score for Justice League is old-school (listen the track 'Final Battle' for example) but is lost in the final film, buried beneath the sound effects.
I respectfully disagree, while old Star Wars had phenomenal music and a lot of new scores are iffy, we still have songs like Wonder Woman's theme or the Avengers theme

Charles Bargone Disney didn't catch it like in the V (well, with a hole episode dedicated to it, I'm happy Lucas did a good job). If I remember well, in The Empire S-B, the Falcon did slow maneuvers with a far away camera. Disney chose a fast moving camera, they couldn't give it the grace it had in the trilogy.
TESB is my favorite. And I love this scene! The chase. The dialogue. The music. Omg. I can’t help but to hear that “whurrrr whurrr whurrr” when the TIE Fighter gets clipped 🤘

The Original trilogy is the best trilogy no questions asked. The Prequels had the best Memes but the OT has the better music. What with this, Binary sunset and Imperial March among others, I love this trilogy.

One time, in college, I broke my cellphone and (not yet having a drivers' license) had to ride for miles on my bike on crowded Long Island roads, at night, dealing with car traffic, in order to get to the mall to have it fixed. I had nothing to listen to music with, but this song played loud and clear in my brain every second, and to this day, it comes to mind every time I'm driving in a downpour or snowstorm or similarly dangerous situation. It also plays when I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown at work. Which is often.
This is the single greatest piece from all Star Wars soundtracks and nothing will change my mind. The sense of adventure, the increasing bombast finished with the softness of the Hand & Leia motif... I love how menacing the Imperial March is through this track. It really conveys just how large and dominant the Imperial Fleet is and how relentlessly it’s hunting our heroes
I agree with everyone that 2:15 is the best part but 2:41 - 2:58 is such a memorable peice of the song for me. It’s the theme that played on the OT Bonus DVD menu and as a kid I watched that a lot for some reason but it was magical hearing that song as you hanged out in the falcon’s cockpit. 😃

Disney didn't catch it like in the V (well, with a hole episode dedicated to it, I'm happy Lucas did a good job). If I remember well, in The Empire S-B, the Falcon did slow maneuvers with a far away camera.
Disney chose a fast moving camera, they couldn't give it the grace it had in the trilogy.
TESB is my favorite. And I love this scene! The chase. The dialogue. The music. Omg. I can’t help but to hear that “whurrrr whurrr whurrr” when the TIE Fighter gets clipped 🤘
the part in 0:56 with the trombones is magnificent, I need to hear more of this in the new star wars soundtracks.

The fact that this piece stands out in a series filled with iconic music tells you how amazing it is.
The Original trilogy is the best trilogy no questions asked. The Prequels had the best Memes but the OT has the better music. What with this, Binary sunset and Imperial March among others, I love this trilogy.

3:30 very lyrical, the harp and then the gliss on the woodwinds gets me every time. The orchestration of Empire is every one bit as good as the composition.

One time, in college, I broke my cellphone and (not yet having a drivers' license) had to ride for miles on my bike on crowded Long Island roads, at night, dealing with car traffic, in order to get to the mall to have it fixed.
I had nothing to listen to music with, but this song played loud and clear in my brain every second, and to this day, it comes to mind every time I'm driving in a downpour or snowstorm or similarly dangerous situation.
It also plays when I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown at work. Which is often.
This is the single greatest piece from all Star Wars soundtracks and nothing will change my mind. The sense of adventure, the increasing bombast finished with the softness of the Hand & Leia motif... It is sheer perfection... Aside from that very subtle skip at 1:36 that always gets me. hat happened there?
I love how menacing the Imperial March is through this track. It really conveys just how large and dominant the Imperial Fleet is and how relentlessly it’s hunting our heroes

I agree with everyone that 2:15 is the best part but 2:41 - 2:58 is such a memorable peice of the song for me. It’s the theme that played on the OT Bonus DVD menu and as a kid I watched that a lot for some reason but it was magical hearing that song as you hanged out in the falcon’s cockpit. 😃
Gripping music! Saw this masterpiece 19 times in the theater when I was a kid. The part at 2:17 always gives me goose bumps.
