I have a friend who inherited his grandfathers browning . He showed it to me in college back in the seventies and I couldnt believe what I was holding . This was one of the first brownings ever made . It and had a 4 digit serial # in the low 2000' s . I told him how rare it was and to wipe it down good and take it home , and put it up . He had a original 1903 first year of production , solid ribbed barrel, full choke 28"or 30"length.minimal wear . The dream ownership much less its a legacy gun now !
My favorite A-5 is a 2nd year production 1904 manufactured with a 28" vent rib modified choke and serial number in the 4,2xx range. I still take it out Bird and Squirrel hunting.
Great story behind these A5’s……love all the history, especially your great grandmother’s side hustle. She had everyone fooled…they we’re paying her to hunt..lololol Dream job!
Hey man just wanting to let you know, the Remington and Winchester 1 ounce 16 gauge game loads are actually 2 9/16” instead of 2 3/4” even the boxes say 2 3/4”. If you compare a fired hull of either to a federal, fiocchi, or either Winchester or Remington 1 1/8 ounce loads you’ll notice the game loads I mentioned are much shorter. They are meant for older guns with shorter chambers.
I've got a 16 gauge A5 and it's in the 2 & 9/16 shell length. I can see they'd be rare, so expensive, but I didn't know those could still be found at all. Thanks.
Very nice info and a great story about your Great-grandmother's 16 ga.! The Sweet Sixteen was the ''bird-hunting'' shotgun here in the South for literally decades! I love the Auto-5's and the 16 ga. is my favorite to shoot by far! I have some ranging from 1938 - 2016 ( Belgium and Japanese). I also have a Rem. model 11 Sportsman (3-shot) and 2 Savages ( 720: 5-shot and a 726 Upland Sporter 3-shot) both in 16 ga. Great presentation! From N.C.
Thanks - it's great to see your family heirlooms being treasured. I have four Belgian made Auto-5 12 gauges. They are accurate and work well with the correct shells. The only downside I have found is that when using them in heavy rain the wooden forend swells slightly and jams the barrel so I had to shave away a small amount of wood to get them to cycle reliably in heavy rain.
Had a 20 g A5 here in Australia, after the Port Arthur event all auto shotguns were to be handed in ,called a buy back, fortunately I sold it to a guy returning to Ohio and it survived ! Cheers Mal in au.
@@HuskerHunting Yes in the buy back many A5 we’re chopped up,I had to hand in a 2 shot Browning skeet gun ,silly really only a 2 mag capacity could not be extended, but it was a semiauto and had to go!! Cheers Mal in au.
Jefe donde entran los cartuchos en la parte de abajo lleva 7 números, los 2 primeros son mas pequeños, me puedes confirmar si es el año de fabricación?
The A5 is NOT an Auto-5! Though it has the hump backed receiver, it's not related. The barrel is NOT reciprocating. The internals are totally different.
Bought a Sweet 16 back when they came out. The lightning edition is the only one they should've produced. Correct stock geometry. When the lightning edition came out, I called the Browning parts department and purchased a lightning stock set. Liked the video, but thumbs down for Nebraska and the huskers.

Wow, what a gun to own!

The best auto shot gun ever built, in my opinion,
Agreed!
It's not an opinion, it's a fact.
The definition of perfection on the first try

Thanks for watching and keep enjoying those 16’s!
Awesome collection. I have an old A5 from Belgium and a new wicked wing edition. I love them both.
Thank you! Those wicked wings are sweet. I would love to get one in the vintage tan camo pattern.
@@HuskerHunting I like those also. I want the throwback round butt stock in a 12 ga. I guess I’m gonna have to break down and buy one.

@@maureenmillard4241 That's heartbreaking to see such beautiful shotguns get chopped up! Even an over/under, that's crazy!

Im from nebraska. I collect a -5s. Also do some prairie chicken hunting with them!

If you’re looking for shells for the 16 gauge check out boss shot shells
Thank you! I managed to find a couple of boxes at a gun show this weekend but boy they aren’t cheap!
My dad’s sweet 16 was stolen along with a few others, it was the only one never recovered.
That’s terrible! Those family guns are truly irreplaceable heirlooms.
😎👍

Yep. And they are both great shooting inertia driven autos. Thanks for watching!
Bad info in your introduction
Make sure to call guns unlimited and get on the list for the new A5 20ga coming out supposedly in February.
I wondered when they would eventually come out in retail stores, so that's good to know. Thanks for watching!
