Such a very cute apron and I love the story about your mom making one for each holiday. My daughter just got her own apartment and I might do something like that for her this year. Also homeschooled my kids, best years of my life!
The explanations were so very useful. For instance, about the neck strap adjustment, depending upon bust size, preference. Another adjustment I realized I need to think about ahead of time is the cut of the curve from top to side - because the ties go where the waist is and the waist is going to be in a different place for me than my husband.
Thank you for this video. I love making aprons and have been buying tea towels and making aprons from them. I have an embroidery machine and I embroider names, cute cooking quotes and holidays on the aprons. Now I can make them directly from my huge stash of fabric. Love your tutorials. I have found many great ideas from them.
Thank you for this! I bought simplicity's learn to sew apron pattern and was completely flabbergasted at how needlessly complicated it was. That'll teach me to buy before searching RUclips.
What a great pattern. So simple and yet so cute. I love the idea of an apron for my sewing room. Using sewing themed fabric would be so adorable. I am thinking aprons would be a great family Christmas gift. Either make them all the same or personalize each person's fabric based on their own likes or interests.
I am now ready to cut my fabric I’ve savings for a couple of years. I really needed an easy pattern and your pattern will be perfect! Thank you for making the video with excellent instructions to follow. 💃🏻
Cute!!! I'm going to try to make my first apron today using my favorite as a pattern. I made a little curtain for my van yesterday and I'm going to use the rest of the fabric to make a van apron to match. Thank you!
As you were doing the neck strap, it looks like you could also put a button and button hole and make it adjustable OR easier to get on over your hair. Just an idea. Cute apron and I need one fast, need it for tomorrow in fact, so going to give this a try. I hope. If not, I will give it a try soon because I need to get a few made ahead of time. Thank you for the easy instructions.💕
Very cute! I have made aprons out of thrifted mens shirts. So fun and cute! Cuffs become pockets, collars already done.... I will be making one of these, too.
Im so excited to make this !! Thank you so much! I really wannq get into sewing but i started too complicated too quick and was very discouraged. Im jumping back in, and hopefully in the end i will have something im proud of
I make a lot of my own patterns and I've found the easiest way is to buy a roll of medical exam table paper to put my measurements on to have a forever pattern piece. I find that is so much easier than tracing from an existing article of clothing.
Thank you! I’ve made so many of the projects you have done a tutorial for. I want to make aprons for my DIL and granddaughter! I’m going to try and figure out measurements for a five year old. 🤔
Thank you so much for this. I have been looking for an easy way to make aprons. And thank for the tip on using the same apron for measuring for your next one. Can't wait to get started 😊
I usually put a little strap un the side of the apron to hang a small hand towell. So I have it literally on me all the time while I´m moving around in the kitchen! and Also put the straps before you do the edges of the apron. That way you hide the borders..
This is an excellent video. I pretty much have made my aprons the same way. And funny thing, I do the same thing. Once I have made an apron I will use it as a pattern and trace it to another fabric. You did an excellent job I describing on sewing an apron. Thanks 😊😊😊😊
You could add ruffles pretty easily to this too, to the hem and neck edge if you want to make a fancy 'hostess' apron. Also, since this is only one layer does it feel flimsy? I would want to do two of the body parts, with the straps sewn in between. This would also make it reversible.
I can't wait to try! If i were to use Cotton fabric, does the thread also have to be cotton? I have polyester thread on hand already. I'm not sure how that works. Thank you! ❤
Cool idea. The apron is just what I need to teach my granddaughter to sew! Thanks! Just one question..I don't see the link for the "fast turn in" item. But the safety pin works great 😃
You could put your rotary cutter in the pocket - oh, probably not YOU, you since you never close yours - LOL! It would be fun to cut up some jeans and make your own "fabric". Thanks for the tutorial!
What a great tutorial and video! I went to your Etsy and got the printed version also. About to make some aprons for gifting. Thank you for making this 😊
Because you are using an apron that you already have, as a pattern, there is another way that you could cut out a new one. Fold your apron in half, lengthwise and measure how wide the skirt area is. Let just say that it is 12 inches. Instead of using the fold that was created on your fabric from beginning on a bolt, unfold the fabric. Create a fold based on the measurement of your existing apron, that was folded, for instance, 12”. Now the long folded edge is 12”, or whatever, from the fold to the finished edge of your material. The left over amount of fabric, for the pocket and straps, will be a larger piece. You can fold that remaining piece in half, lengthwise, according to the width of the waist straps.
❤❤❤ Love this tutorial!! Thank you so much 😁 In most of your tutorials, you use the same size quilting ruler and I love it but I can't tell what size it is. Did you get it on Amazon? Do you have an affiliate link for it? I try to use all of your links so I can help support your channel! ❤❤❤
I like the idea and I like that you used an old apron to trace. But what I don't like is you drew your first straight line on a crooked piece of fabric, especially a fabric that's patterned like that. If it's not plain, you can't do that. You have to draw a straight lines on a straight piece of fabric
You put the safety pin on the closed end and then sort of invert that end into the tube. Once you get it started, the safety pin will move right along. I hope that makes sense!
I wonder why you folded your material exactly in half leaving 2 narrow strips after cutting your patrern out? I was taught to fold the fabric to accommodate the pattern piece width and leave one large scrap instead of 2 narrow ones. I see this in a lot on videos on RUclips. Does it really matter if you are trying to be frugal?
I think it is assumed that everyone wanting to make something as simple as an apron has a basic knowledge of sewing a hen, adding straps and a front pocket.
@@daisy8297 Hmmmm? Sewing a 'hen'? I never sewed a living chicken before. Did you? I've been sewing for 56 years. Based on MY experience, this was NOT a decent, good, explanatory video.
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I homeschooled all my 6 children ❤
Such a very cute apron and I love the story about your mom making one for each holiday. My daughter just got her own apartment and I might do something like that for her this year. Also homeschooled my kids, best years of my life!
I love the fact that the neckline can be adjusted to suit every user. Thank you for this. God bless you
Thank you!! You just enabled my first sewing project ever! I feel so proud of myself. You did such a good job explaining every step.
Yay good job! 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻
Simple enough for a my 9 year old grand-daughter's 1st sewing project. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice tutorial, thank you! My gramma made hundreds of them years ago. I plan to make one for myself and my granddaughter soon.

The tea towels are a great idea!

Well done, and well explained. Love the turning thingy. Thanks for showing us how you do it.

I will be making one of these, too.
Cute idea!
Thank you so much. I've just made oen - by hand over two days - from some chintz curtians my mother made for me 65 years ago:) MAM
Wonderful!
Thank you so very much! I actually made a butterfly apron as I watched this video!! I just did wider straps for neck and ties. Turned out amazing!!
I almost cried about those turning tubes 😂 it's my first time EVER seeing that

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I want to make some aprons for my daughters for Christmas, and this came out just in time! Plus, it looks so easy!
I make a lot of my own patterns and I've found the easiest way is to buy a roll of medical exam table paper to put my measurements on to have a forever pattern piece. I find that is so much easier than tracing from an existing article of clothing.
It came out beautiful. I'd like to make a Japanese apron . Thank you for sharing. 👍👵
If you line your apron, you can avoid all the turned-in edges. Just another way to simplify your apron. 🌻
Lining would make it reversible too.
I love aprons! This is a cute one! Thanks.
I just found the tool on Amazon! No worries...thanks again!!

Such a cute apron and great instructions.
What a fun and quick design❤ thanks for sharing! Looking forward to making my own❤
I just finished my first apron using your video - thank you :)
Thanks for the tutorial. I can sew but its nice to follow along sometimes. I made the apron with some IKEA fabric I had hanging around!
Really love your instructional video. Thanks for sharing. Definitely gonna give it a try. :)

Very cute. I know very few that are as small a size as you. The aprons I will make must be larger.

Okay this was perfect!! I’m completely new to sewing in general do you have a video for beginners on how to use a sewing machine? Ty!

That’s true, good idea! The one layer does the job, but I do like the thicker fabrics best.
It’s beautiful
thank you for sharing 😊
I was just gifted a sewing machine and need to learn how to use it. I was taught to sew by hand and have no idea how to use a machine. ❤
I can't wait to try! If i were to use Cotton fabric, does the thread also have to be cotton? I have polyester thread on hand already. I'm not sure how that works. Thank you! ❤
No, poly thread is considered all purpose 👍🏻

I used the serger on edges and then just turned under I use pvc pipes different sizes with a dowel to turn to right side.
You are so good at explaining the steps! I’m very excited to try this out 🥰

Aw thanks, I think you mean this one: amzn.to/496O7ir It really is the best, I finally replaced mine with the same after 15 years!

Great video! Thank you! 🦋
So if you sew one end of the apron strings, how are you supposed to get the safety pin to go through the other end? I’m sure I’m missing something.
You put the safety pin on the closed end and then sort of invert that end into the tube. Once you get it started, the safety pin will move right along. I hope that makes sense!
Wonderful!
Another way to easily turn tubes right-side-out is to use a pencil with an unused eraser. Put it in eraser first. Tada! ✏️
I am on the plus size, should I get more fabric.
Yes, I’d get an extra yard. Then you can widen the apron and still have the extra yard to cut the straps 👍🏻
So cute
Quick question, when you say 1.5 yards does that mean long or squared ❤
It means length, along the selvedge edge of the fabric.
I like where that apron comes on you, can you tell me how tall you are? I'm 5' 3"
Yikes. Over $60 for that super cool fast turn tool. I'll be using a safety pin.
I purchased a much cheaper on 10ish I think from Madam sew..... it is however not as nice, does the trick however
Thank you
Ive got 2 yards material and brand new sewing machine a janome 740dc

I usually cut the straps out of those strips, so it gets used either way 😊
what kind of a fabric board is that? like the brand
Do you mean the cutting mat? It’s Sewology from Hobby Lobby
Thanks
I will create a master pattern on Pellon grid to have durable reusable pattern pieces to make many aprons quickly & easily!
That is a great idea 👍🏻
Nice idea
Unable to find link to the tape.

I need a kids pattern
Ive got 4 quilting rulers
Fast turn-47 dollars?! no way.
They’re over $60 now. 😢
But you didn’t show us how to sew
I had a hard time keeping up with you. You seem to speed through your instructions
There’s this great tool on youtube called “pause” also you can slow the video speed down as well 😊
As a complete beginner, this was hard to follow. 😢
I’m so sorry! You can do it, I can help if you get stuck 👍🏻
Hairdo size 😂😂😂
😆
Hey now, I'm from Texas and that really makes a difference, we are behind the times and wear BIG HAIR Hahaha
i notice americans have a long intro😂 just saying. almost everyone and i ended up skipping the video
Everyone is different, I guess. I enjoyed the intro 😊
you really needed to show how you sewed the pieces. so not fair. not a good training video. sorry.
