When Johnny Rivers arrived he was up against The Beatles and the British invasion, while he was performing pure American blues, rockabilly, and R and B, he stuck to his guns, albeit going a bit psychedelic in the late 60's ,he survived swimmingly, everything he recorded still sounds great. I'm a guitarist performer and have six of his songs in my set.

One of the most under rated singers and he actually could play his guitar.
Johnny Rivers is the greatest American cover artist of all time. Hell of a good songwriter as well. Belongs in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.
