It's so weird this conflict has been raging for 13 years and then all of a sudden in the space of a week they went from nothing to conquering the entire country. It's amazing how slow and how fast these kind of wars unfold. Same with Afghanistan, a long drawn out war and then in a very short period of time, total victory.
Taliban controlled most of Afghanistan the entire war. Once USA left it was easy to take the cities. Same thing once Russia left it was easy to take Syria.

Yes , Aleppo is the economic capital of Syria. When I say Aleppo I mean the main city and the rural areas too. Before the war Aleppo city held about 4 million people but almost half of them were expelled once the rebels lost Aleppo city in 2018. Since then, Aleppo city has turned into a military base.😢
He didn't fight, he pretended to fight in Hama and that's it, the rest of the country his army just kept withdrawing without a fight, not even running away from fights, just following orders of continuous withdrawals
When I first heard of the offensive and saw it on the map, not gonna lie I did not think much because I was used to slow movements Syria and Ukraine, turns out this really was a major offensive.
Not just major offensive but also the house or cards collapsing from the inside. Assad's regime was utterly weakened by years of war and non existant economy + both its allies (Iran and Russia) being incrediby weakened by their own conflicts with Ukraine and Israel. History has shown us time and again that these total collapses can be very sudden and happen very quickly. Lets not forget that it happened rather quickly with USSR and Warsaw Pact as well, although ofc there we are talking about different kind of collapse, but either way few back in late 80s or early 90s expected Soviet Union to face total collapse.
1:12 As soon as Homs falls to the rebels from the north, the resulting 3-way scramble for Damascus is crazy (Forces consisting of: northern rebel group, USA backed rebels from the east, southern rebel group)
I can tell you as someone who followed this war almost religiously it also isnt quite accurate to how it went down. Rebel groups such as Free Houran gathering in the south were already forming in late November, and taking villages on November 30th. This time lapse shows nothing happening till December 7th when by that time almost the whole of bottom half of southern Syria was rebel controlled. By December 5th they were already pushing up the M5 towards Damascus after having controlled everything below the main city. Its kind of annoying how so many videos like these fail at the main thing they are supposed to be doing, which is being accurate.
Assad created ISIS. In fact, ISIS what attacking the rebels and recently Syrian intruded some Russian bases and found ISIS band and clothes. It’s notable to mention that ISIS used Russian weapons.
The SAA, government forces, just evaporated once all factions started dogpiling them. Aleppo's loss meant a loss of major tax revenue for an already financially struggling regime and an army that just wasn't getting the support it needed, and with Iran + Russia having been distracted elsewhere, Assad was doomed. We just didn't know until the Rebels from all quarters got to Damascus Hama being taken, Homs loss meaning the coastal cities were cut off and the capital was basically free real estate to whoever got to it first.

Reasons why the Syrian government lost: 1. They didn’t finish off the rebels in 2020. 2. Total corruption. 3. Low support for the Assad regime. 4. Lack of modernization of the army, instead of experienced fighters there are young conscripts. 5. In case of war, the government relied entirely on Russia and Iran, now they had other problems. In turn, the rebels after the truce of 2020 slowly and quietly gained strength, united around their goal, carefully planned the attack and attacked in a moment of weakness, in an organized and swift manner. All that can be done is to hope that peace will finally begin in Syria after so many years of war. However, given that the rebels had only one common goal (and now there is none), I unfortunately very much doubt it.

Because the Syrian army was not that powerful, instead it was heavily reliant on support from Russia and Iran. Since both countries now have their own issues to deal with (Russia with Ukraine, Iran with Israel), they minimized or cut off the support, thus making Assad isolated and vulnerable to rebels that already had support from the USA and Türkiye. The country's economy was already in shambles and Aleppo was the biggest city outside Damascus that generated some revenue, and its fall in the hands of rebels meant the beginning of the end for Assad. Coastal cities were cut off from support after Hama and Homs were captured, so it was only a matter of time before Damascus fell as well. The prime minister and half of the ministers were already fed up with Assad, thus the only choice he had was to surrender and leave the country. God knows what will happen next. There are 4 or 5 major rebel groups and each of them have different and contradictory visions in terms of ruling the country. I'm afraid a Libyan style civil war will begin because of this..

i still dont understand how a military can fold so easily
The military heavily relied on foreign powers, and either way the moral was basically non existant since everyone was fed up by assad
These maps are great but there should be another map for the factions.

We are free Syria army not rebel

But why 😢 why civil war?? It's very useless thing to do, why let other country helping the rebellious. Youre damning your own country.
