As a bicyclist, they also make them for bikes, even completely white ones, or white walls with black parts being blue, or yellow!
But my favourite ones are blacks with reflective sides.
@@markellii3093 You can also apparently get them for skate tires! I've not bought any myself but others who use tires and don't use thane at all have told me that white wall tires are being made by a select few companies.
(tires are popular for esk8 use in case you are confused since no one uses them for manual boards)
probably won't find them at typical local tire shops. I'm sure you could find them online all day long but maybe specially requested at those local stores. I've never asked/checked but yeah they're still certainly a thing.
I think the white walls work even on the clean side because sometimes, we're all just a different shade of dingus.
Somedays you stand out amongst the chaos (colorful side) and somedays you blend in with the monotony in your own little way where you stick out just a little.

Damn that 3 cylinder takes me back. My first car was a 1998 Daihatsu Cuore with a 0.9L inline 3, that little engine was so much fun. It would slide around and aquaplane a lot but it was so much fun to drive. Pretty much a go kart. Had to retire it eventually due to rampant electrical problems and rust but I see them every now and again still and always feel a pang of nostalgia. Great work on the free car!
This would be me if there were any underpowered 80's hatchbacks you could even find in america.
Now the only option is to bung up the other side so the white walls work on both sides, it's like a business man who got absolutely ravaged by a paint parade but his shoes were completely untouched

Protip for the first time you use those air vents, use some masking tape and put dryer sheets over the vents. They'll both catch all the crap and make it smell nice. My current shitbox (2006 Toyota Matrix) was parked for 4 years before I got it 🤣🤣 Now been driving it 3 years

if you really wanna get rid of smells, buy a small ozone machine, turn the car on and ac on high and let the machine run for like an hour or so, and pull the plug so you can safely get back in the car to shut it off, trust

Daihatsu parts would be absolutely impossible to get in Canada. The minitrucks are far more common than anything else Daihatsu has ever made here.
On the CV joint issue, is there anything made now that could swap in? There's been part interchange manuals for a while, but a car of that age might have some info in the oldest of them.

For parts, you might want to check out some parts importers from Japan. Might be worth looking into.
I love the white walls, goes really well with the masses of rattle can spray doused on half the car 👍
Only issue is, now it looks like an old clunker on somebody else's stolen wheels.
They'll probably turn more yellow over time as well and at some point match the other side of the car (better) as well.

Fun fact about white walls: They are usually only white on one side. The other side will be plain black rubber. So you can take them to a tire shop and have the rights and lefts switched around and boom, 'regular tires'.

I would love to see a cost breakdown at some point, to see how "free" the car actually was
Just stay off the loud pedal in sharp turns, and that CV shaft will probably be fine for decades. I have an '80s hatchback with a bad shaft, but since the tiny motor makes maybe 50 - 60 horsepower, it doesn't really matter. Gotta love these little lunchboxes.

I simply cherished my Daihatsu Cuore L501 Lemon Edition; my first car. Took it from Germany to Greece and back for 3 weeks vacation with 2 buddies. Some of the best memories of my life driving through the Peloponnesian mountains with a 31 kW pack horse that just did not want to give up. Most reliable car I ever owned.
