Here I am officially requesting builds featuring each of the upcoming subclasses. They don't have to all be superpowered but I bet you can make them all viable and interesting (Don't forget the True Strike)
14:30 Pocket a bunch of corpses as a path of giants barbarian, throw them at enemies, then have the death domain cleric explode them. Pocket artillery, as long as the damage is decent enough.
"I'm sure we will all use it responsably and only in the most family friendly ways". that had me cracking up big time. Cheers mate! Thanks for everything you do for us BG3 lovers and happy Thanksgiving!
i wonder if the dark urge being featured in the gif showing off the shadow sorcerer is hinting that they're gonna change his default subclass from storm sorcery to that? seems a little bit more appropriate for his whole schtick.
You're REALLY underselling Shadow Magic sorcerer. Its main power is Hound of Ill Omen and NOT Strength of the Grave. Shadow Magic is a control sorcerer first and foremost because your Hound of Ill Omen forces nearby enemies to take saving throws at a constant disadvantage. Combine this with multi-roll save or suck spells, like BG3's Phantasmal Killer or Hold Person / Hold Monster and you have an absolutely ridiculous beast of a controller at the cost of a reduced spell list.
Bladesinger Wizard is one of the classes I've been wanting to play from the start. I hope they package in add'l cantrips to support that (Booming Blade, Greenflame Blade). And I know that they said they were done, but I'd pay money for an Artifcier class DLC.
Bit of a shame swarm keeper doesnt have a bat version; would have been cool for Astarion. Also Path of the Giant for Karlach is just amazing; infusing your weapon with fire damage just fits so much. Not to mention the throwing. Death Domain and Hexblade are also dope alternatives to DJ SH; other than just Trickery and Shadow Monk
I did a playthrough with Lae'zel as a Monk . . . I roleplayed her as having a breakdown after the Creche and had her use Punch Drunk Bastard for Act 2. It was fun, but she sobered up by the time I got to the Act 3 gear. Fun times!
I think a valid use case for imbuing arrows is maybe making ALL of the damage from the arrow the element which would be a pretty cool boon for multiclassing with rogues
About Warlocks, the 2024 rules from DnD have adapted the pact of the blade from BG3 but Hexblade is not updated so, what Larian does may in some capacity be used in tabletop.
I think I’m looking forward to Cephalopocalyse’s builds for these new subclasses as much as I’m looking forward to the new subclasses themselves. Just as I was getting worried he was going to have to move on from BG3 having covered it ALL already.
Larian must really like Ceph's tier list because right after he finally tier listed everything in BG3, they add more subclasses. 😂 I imagine that Ceph is going to have to make one or tier lists ranking these new subclasses as mono-class and multi-class characters.
Half of these sub classes are pure fire and most of the rest are dark horses either because they're basically home brew or they're going to be changed enough to potentially be great. Larian basically giving a way a free DLC.
Glad you’re covering this news- when I first saw it I thought it must be a joke. And just as you finished the weapons tier lists, we get more subclasses! Looking forward to more videos from you in the future!
Hexblade warlocks might get a bigger variety of weapons to choose from, or bonuses to their damage (including ranged, hopefully) and maybe they won't need pact weapon to use their charisma for attacks, making the other two pact options more attractive.
Lowkey, Im hoping they make it so Hexblade Warlock makes Pact of the Blade just add a bonus Charisma modifier. The numbers would be stupidly broken, especially that early in the game, but a guy can dream.
Something homebrew that I would love to see Path of Giants Barbarian get would be the ability to throw allies and summons (with a bonus or reaction or something) without causing any damage or prone effect to them. Maybe even give some kind of Hamarhraft-like shockwave effect (but force instead of thunder) for wherever your thrown allies land that can synergize with other types of equipment.
So glad to see Crown Paladin in the game. Is's apparently the paladin that the Oathbreaker knight used to be, and probably fits my old Noble paladin best compared to the ones already in the game.
Barbarian Path of Giants also should get the thaumaturgy cantrip . . . which is amazing for passing dialogue checks. It will be perfect for making your Barbarian the party face. I did a whole playthrough with a Zariel Tiefling just so I could get thaumaturgy its that good. And throwing characters is already a ton of fun . . . so more fun! 🙂
I'm pretty sure that modders have already data mined the new subclasses because I've already seen mods for most (if not all) of these options. I'm currently playing a hexblade mod and it's been very fun. The hexblade curse in the mod I'm using is Cha modifier bludgeoning damage added to (all, not just weapon!) attacks against the cursed target, crits on a 19 or 20, and bonus temp hp when the cursed dies. I've played a little bit with a stars druid playthrough too, but there's some bugs with the dragon starry form (but the archer works which is all that really matters lol). Unrelated note: I've only played a few dnd campaigns, but so far I've played a spore druid, an arcane archer, a swarmkeeper, a stars druid (RIP to that character!), and I just started playing a hexblade. When I saw the list I laughed so hard (as did most of my dnd group)!
I wonder if the added subclasses update will come with a rebalance of some existing abilities or mechanics. From an optimization standpoint, the new Bard subclass and a throwing-focused Barbarian subclass seem kind of.... superfluous?
This is a huge thing. I was just turning to mods to make the game more interesting and now we’re getting official mod support and new subclasses?! Larian’s timing couldn’t have been better
Between the existing overpowered builds, and these new ones that maybe have not been fully balanced, they may need to add a new difficulty level. Call it super honor mode turbo. Maybe reduce XP and add some more optional enemy encounters.
Amzing patch! The one thing the game needs the absolute most tho is an Arena where you can setup encounters and fights of your choice. By the time you get to have all the abilitites it just doesnt feel like there's enough left to do except finish the game, but an Arena would let people play for days just having fun playing with builds and interesting waysbto approach fights that you otherwise dont get unless you save scum encounters

Are we getting booming/green flame blade? It's a huge bummer we don't have them already, arcane tricksters and E knights really want them. But blade singer and hexblade quite literally need them
This might be a little too broken maybe but I wonder if the arcane Archer will be able to stack another effect on top of the special arrows that are already in the game.
Pretty sure that is not how copyright works. Plenty of DnD channels show the rules while explaining them. Especially in this case when you are making a video talking about a video game based on the table top rules and giving your opinions and speculation on how they will work in the game. It is easily fair use. That doesn't mean Wizards won't try to claim your video though and fair use is only an affirmative defense in court so it doesn't matter anyways.
I wanted them to bring Druid: circle of the spores to BG3, that is my favorite Drew sub class and I was disappointed that I couldn’t play it in the base game.
